Eliza Haimi DDS - General dentist in Great Neck, NY

Eliza Haimi grew up to follow in the footsteps of her father, a neurologist who worked tirelessly to help people in need. Lessons of humility and unconditional care were learned at an early age. Throughout Elizas studies, the love of science and her passion for sculpting and drawing led her to the field of dentistry. She received her Bachelors degree in Chemistry and Psychology from Clark University in Massachusetts. Not only did Eliza volunteer in different dental practices throughout high school, but she also managed a dental practice while in college. Her enjoyment of dentistry motivated her to attend dental school at the prestigious New York University. Due to her clear vocation, Eliza was asked to join the Aesthetic Honors program at NYU and she subsequently graduated with honors in this field. Dr. Eliza Haimi has been the recipient of the Excellence in Cosmetic Dentistry Award from the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry.

While raising her children, Dr. Haimi worked as an associate in different dental practices. She used this as an opportunity to learn as much as she could about the profession. However, during these years, it became apparent to her that what she truly desired was her own practice. With the belief that dentistry could be practiced much more conservatively and that patient interactions should be more personalized, Dr. Haimi established her Cosmetic and General Dentistry practice in 2011.

In an effort to practice conservative dentistry, Dr. Haimi has incorporated Invisalign into her treatment planning in order to align teeth without unnecessary cutting of the enamel. Dr. Haimi has been a certified Invisalign provider since 2007 and Invisaligns Preferred Provider since 2011. In a constant effort to stay up-to-date and improve her techniques, Dr. Haimis absolute love for her work has led her to gain hundreds of hours of continuing education yearly.

Dental VeneersWe provide dental veneers so that patients can restore damaged teeth or transform their smile into something beautiful. At Eliza Haimi DDS, we often treat patients that have a variety of dental concerns. Some patients visit our Great Neck office because they break their tooth, while others are looking to create a Hollywood smile. Most people are candidates for the procedure as long as their tooth structure and roots are in place. If, however, you have a cavity or gum disease, this will need to be treated before we complete the procedure.

We also use dental veneers for restorations. When teeth become cracked, chipped or broken, a veneer can restore the tooth to its full functionality. As long as the tooth structure is intact, we can restore the appearance of a tooth while making it possible to eat and speak without feeling any discomfort.

When patients visit our Eliza Haimi DDS offices, we will take an impression of their teeth to create the veneers in a lab. The veneers will match the size, shape, and color of your teeth, taking a week or more to create.

In order to place dental veneers, we will first prepare your tooth by removing a portion of the enamel. This helps the veneer lay flat and in line with your gum tissue. After preparing the tooth, we will secure a temporary veneer using removable glue. While wearing a temporary veneer, it is important to brush your teeth gently and avoid eating any foods that may push it out of place. Since it is secured by removable glue, it can be moved fairly easily.

When your permanent veneers are ready, you will come back into our Eliza Haimi DDS offices so that we can remove the temporary and ensure that the new veneer is a perfect fit. It is typically attached using a water based solution to see how it looks. If any adjustments need to be made, it will be done at this time. Otherwise, the tooth will be cleaned, and the dental veneer will be bonded to the tooth. Patients will enjoy how the results look. They are instant, and you can start flashing your smile right away.

Your teeth will typically be sore for a few days after the preparation phase and after placing the permanent veneers. During this time, you can take pain medication to help you stay comfortable. Patients can also benefit from getting rest and using a cold compress to reduce any swelling. We recommend that patients watch what they eat for a few days and stick with foods that are soft. While there is a short recovery time when getting veneers, the procedure is entirely worth it because in the end, you will have a beautiful smile.

One main benefit of veneers that patients enjoy is how the veneers make their teeth look. This procedure is an excellent solution, since the veneers can transform your smile into one that looks perfect and beautiful. The veneer uses your natural teeth, so there is no need for surgery, and the recovery time is reduced. Since the veneers are made to match your other teeth, they will look natural, and no one will be able to tell that you had any cosmetic dentistry work completed. Another benefit is that they are made out of a stain resistant material. This means that your teeth will stay whiter and brighter, even if your favorite beverage is a hot cup of coffee. We can use dental veneers to transform your smile.

As with most cosmetic procedures, there can be some discomfort associated with getting dental veneers installed. This is to be expected, however, we do our best to keep patients comfortable during the procedure so that you will not experience any pain while the veneers are being placed or your teeth are being prepared. The process can take several weeks so there will be a period where you need to be careful about what you eat and what activities you engage in. In other words, do not play football after getting temporary veneers placed onto your teeth. You should schedule the procedure for a time where you will be close to home and able to take easy.

Wondering if a smile makeover can really give you a great smile? Yes! There are many cosmetic dental options now available you can choose from, which means you can essentially design your smile. For example, are your teeth not as straight as you would like them to be? Are your front teeth too small or too

Are you going to buy a new toothbrush and want to know what a general dentist recommends? Brushing your teeth at least twice a day is very important when it comes to practicing good oral hygiene. However, a lot of people use the wrong type of toothbrush on their teeth and end up damaging their

Patients may need to repair teeth after experiencing an accident. An accident can happen at any time. Whether it is a car wreck, sports injury, playing with the kids, or falling at work. In many cases, the teeth often sustain damage and will need treatment as soon as possible. Otherwise, the area can become infected along with being uncomfortable.

Restorations are also necessary after a tooth becomes infected. When a patient gets a cavity, or a root canal is necessary, we can restore it so that the tooth can continue to function without needing removal. This is far better for your overall oral health since keeping your natural teeth is the best option in the long run.

When a tooth is missing a large portion of its enamel, a dental crown is the best type of restoration because it is a cap that completely surrounds the tooth. This way, you can bite down with full force and not worry about being uncomfortable or damaging the tooth further. This is most frequently used after a root canal or when the tooth is severely cracked or chipped. Fortunately, they now come in all-ceramic and ceramic-on-metal in addition to the traditional all-metal material. Patients getting crowns for restorations can have natural looking teeth after the fact.

At Eliza Haimi DDS, we use tooth-colored fillings as a way to restore teeth that have had cavities. Once we remove the decayed area of the tooth, a filling is necessary to replace the missing enamel. Traditionally, this was done using silver amalgam but now we can complete dental restorations using materials that look natural so that when you smile, no one can tell that you had cavities.

Those that need minor restorations can often benefit from a simple bonding procedure. This is popular when restoring baby teeth. Children, for example, do not need a dental veneer on a tooth that is going to fall out in short order. With this in mind, we can keep a baby tooth in place and ensure that it is functioning properly by restoring it using a bonding procedure. We can use a tooth-colored material so that it looks completely natural.

In many cases, the patient wears temporary dentures while deciding how they want to permanently replace their tooth. These temporary dentures are held in place by a wire that is similar to wearing a retainer. They are not meant to be worn long-term but will help you to look normal while deciding which cosmetic dentistry procedure to use.

Dental bridges are popular for dental restorations. Patients can use a bridge to replace a tooth without undergoing surgery. In this procedure, a dental crown is placed on the two teeth that surround the missing one. The crowns are used as anchors to hold a gum-colored bridge in place that the new tooth is secured to. The entire bridge is created in a local dental lab and will look completely natural by blending in with the surrounding teeth.

Patients may prefer to use dental implants instead of other treatment options. An implant is by far the most durable option for replacing a missing tooth. In this procedure we will implant a metal post under the gums and secure it to the jawbone. The bone and metal fuse together to create a synthetic root system that the new tooth is secured to. With this type of dental restoration, patients can maintain an active lifestyle without worrying about the impact on their new tooth.
