I wanted to be able to perform the highest level of restorative dentistry, and, ultimately, be able to make a dramatic difference in peoples lives. As specialists in restorative, cosmetic and implant dentistry, we are called upon to provide the best restorative and implant surgical care. The creativity and logical problem solving that gets the WOW from the patients is a real high.

A great many patients come to us with serious problems: some are aesthetic, some are functional (breakdown of restorations, teeth, and/or bite), and many are both. Some require implant therapy, which adds a whole other dimension. Personally, I love the challenge of breaking down the problems to the lowest common denominator and then rebuilding the mouth to perfection. Overall, making a difference in peoples lives by restoring them to a point of health with aesthetic results that are superior to what is generally being performed out there is an important driver to me and my team. Our philosophy is do it right, get it right.

A warm, friendly, highly professional environment provided by a top end staff. Our facility is large (3,000 sq feet) with all the treatment rooms having picture windows overlooking a wide-open expanse.

I specialize in prosthodontics with a subspecialty in periodontal prostheses or reconstructing the partially or fully broken-down adult dentition. This specialty includes implant surgery and restoration, cosmetic design and makeover, reconstruction of the broken down dentition, and crowns, veneers, and bridges.

Provide the best possible therapy based upon the pursuit of excellence in every aspect of practice-from the initial diagnosis, alternative treatment plans, and detailed therapy sequence resulting in unmatched final results. Our single-minded focus on getting it right with top fitting, very aesthetic restorations has resulted in crowns that last over 35 years and 3,400 surgically inserted and restored implants with a 97-98% success rate over a 10-20 year period. We have assembled the best team of top professionals to provide this therapy in a very friendly, efficient, and comfortable environment.

  • In 1985 I spent 5 days with one of the top ceramists, Masahiro Kuwata, in a technician training program to, in turn, train our inhouse technicians to provide world class porcelain having internal color with highly translucency enamel to create our simply natural, simply radiant restorations.
  • Also, in 1985, I was one of the early prosthodontist adopters of the osseointegrated implant therapy, including being the first one in the Washington area to take on the implant placement surgery. Therefore, we would always have the strongest foundation at the outset with ideally placed implants generating ideal final aesthetic and functional results.
  • In 2011, I invented and patented another implant restoration system that automatically corrects for surgical error when placing implants and consistently provides the optimal drop-in final abutment and crown.
  • I work out several days a week. With three children and 6 grandchildren in the Washington metropolitan area, my wife and I see family members most weekends. On the side, I am also continuing my work in my venture project, the automated implant restoration system, when not doing all of that. I hope to also go back to my golf game in the spring.

The epiphany on wanting to become a prosthodontist came from the first few days of orientation at the University of Pennsylvania dental school, followed by reinforcement in lectures during my first year. Penn is the institution that invented the subspecialty ofperiodontal prosthesis, which became my area of interest. Seeing the clinical results from rehabilitating the broken-down adult dentition from the top players in the field inspired me to specialize in this area of prosthodontics.

I am intenselydedicatedto top performance and performers and providing my patients with the best therapy, loyalto family, friends, patients, and people I work with, and to business/practices with whom I have established a working relationship, andcomprehensivein my approach to any work-to-task projects.

Several of my professors at U of P and BU set the standards for top-end therapy, which I incorporated early on into my practice and became the basis of our corporate culture. At this stage in my career, I am a mentor to others in the field in any one of several areas, rather than being mentored.

Making a dramatic difference in many peoples lives over the years has been very rewarding. It is quite satisfying to have inspired a vast array of top team members to provide service following the pursuit of excellence, ending up with our patients receiving top service and the very best, longest-lasting restorations.

  • We are one of the few pros practices that provide end-to-end implant therapy-from extraction and ridge (jaw) augmentation (bone grafting, internal sinus lift) to surgical implant placement to restoration using our own in-house technician

Dr. Marlin is by far the most compassionate and knowledgeable Dentist I have encountered in my over 40 years of dental care. He quickly and expertly diagnosed my complex issue and was able to treat it. His staff also shares the same high standards and ideals of patient care, and are always such a pleasure to deal with. They all exude an unmatched level of patient care and commitment to satisfaction that I have never experienced elsewhere. I will continue to use this top notch practice for my complex dental needs for years to come.

I rarely write reviews for professional services rendered. It is my expectation that professionals should meet a very high level of qualitative standards and personal assumptions. I live in Northwest Washington, DC. I had a good degree of anxiety to find a Prosthodontist who could provide restoration for an implant that had gone array after 20 years due to an athletic injury suffered during college. I search online to locate a variety of Prosthodontists near Friendship Heights where there is a large grouping of dental practices. I met with Dr. Marlin and his staff. He explained to me the entire process which included the time frame, the series of procedures, and a tour of the facility which included the in-house lab. The implant had become loose and could not be reinserted into my mouth. After a review of the X-rays and situation, He recommended a much larger yet necessary procedure. The bone had deteriorate significantly that it would take much more extensive work. A bridge that would span across the lower part of mouth. This was a bit shocking to me. The level of comfort, the professionalism and friendliness of the entire staff and transparent communications lead me to chose Dr. Marlin. I have not regretted my decision. Dr. Marlin is 5 star Prosthodontist. Many individuals strived for perfection and many fall short because good is enough, too much time and resources has been spent on a patient, or they have too many commitments. This is not the value ethics of the Elite Prosthetic Dentistry. I was not discharged as a patient until the work on teeth had met his high standards and I was comfortable with the look and feel within my mouth. This office is filled with individuals who are happy to work there and interact with the patients. Finally, do not balked if you feel the services are a bit pricey. You get what pay for. I received much more that I pay. I recommend Dr. Marlin and his staff wholeheartedly and without hesitation!

A "crown replacement near me" Google search led me to Dr. Marlin - I'm beyond grateful for finding him and his crew! Dr. Marlin replaced a poorly fitted, aesthetically unpleasing crown I received years ago from someone else. His chairside manners are incredible and his expertise is evident as soon as he walks in the room. My new crown is BEAUTIFUL. It's high quality, perfectly fitted, and blends in with the rest of my smile. A big thank you to Ziad for assisting Dr. Marlin during all my visits. Another big thank you to Felix for working alongside Dr. Marlin to create my crown in their in-house lab. The entire experience was actually fun haha. You'll get genuine assistance from the front desk and once there, the rest of the team will give you their undivided attention.

My path to prosthodontia was predictable - I had years of adequate care from multiple dentists but routinely ignored issues that couldn't be fixed in one or two visits. The routinely ignored issues led me to Dr. Marlin. Dr. Marlin's practice (see "dream team" link under "Who We Are" tab) really does exhibit the good grace and humor of found family. I'm at the last stage of my original plan and couldn't be happier with the results. Dr. Marlin's attention to getting to the perfect is refreshing in a time when close enough seems to suit many medical professionals (example: asking Felix to make an adjustment of a "tenth of a millimeter" when final fitting a bridge). Kudos to everyone in the practice, but special thanks to Fatima and Ziad for being friendly, patient and thorough in the hours we spent together. I heartily recommend Dr. Marlin to anyone seeking dental care. My only regret is that I didn't start the process at an earlier age

I cannot recommend Dr. Gerald Marlin and Elite Prosthetic Dentistry more highly. For most of my adult life, Jerry has provided me with the most exquisite dental care, creatively and collaboratively solving my myriad of challenges through the years. I've got some rotten teeth, grind my jaw mercilessly among other things, so I did not make it easy on him, but Jerry has given me a smile which is always noticed by friends and family and jumps out in photos. His staff is flawless, his quality is top-notch, and this man really cares about providing prosthetic dentistry that will last far beyond normal expectations.

I have been a patient of Dr. Marlin's since moving to DC in the late '80s and cannot say enough about his skills and the professionalism - and kindness -- of his dental and office staff. Until the past year, I have not needed major dental work, and only one of the (small) fillings that Dr. Marlin placed over 25 years ago has required replacement. During the pandemic, however, I fractured a premolar so badly that both he and the endodontist he recommended suggested an implant as my best option. I'm now nearing the end of this process, which has included orthodontia to make additional space for the crown, and I am similarly pleased with the results thus far. I have also been very impressed with the orthodontist and endodontist that Dr. Marlin recommended and his (and their) excellent communication and coordination of my care.

I've been going to Dr. Marlin for over 20 years and would strongly recommend him to anyone! Dr. Marlin is a very experienced, high-end dental professional with an engineering mindset, a great office team, and a sense of humor. I have had two implants done by him -- one in 2001 and one last year (in the midst of the pandemic). Both of the implants replaced teeth in a space that can best be termed "challenging" -- in the bottom-back of my (small) mouth, next to where the wisdom teeth would be. I still have the first implant from 20 years ago. I've been told that is way above the average life expectancy across dentists nationwide. The second implant (the one during the pandemic) was done with the same high level of engineering that he always uses. Dr. Marlin took the time to angle the implant in such a way that I would have the greatest long-term use of it. In terms of having work done during the pandemic: not the timing I would have wished for, but the office did a professional job of making me feel safe. In between these two implants, I have been going to this office for regular dental cleanings. The hygienist in the office, Claudia, is very nice, does a thorough job, and is pleasant in trying to me to change my habits. Overall, it's a great practice!

I love coming into this office! It had been a while since I was in due to the pandemic, but I was so happy to go back and see the entire staff. Everyone on this team, from the front desk, to the office management, to the care team is absolutely wonderful and makes me feel like family. Claudia, the new hygienist, made me feel comfortable right away on our first visit. I highly recommend Elite Prosthetic Dentistry for anyone looking for a practice you'll never want to leave! Everything they do is with care, precision and love for their patients and their craft. Five stars.

I've previously written a review about the excellence of this practice (2019), but I am writing now (2021) for a different reason. I look forward to my dental visits, because every time I come I learn something about life that has nothing to do with teeth. This practice seems to be a sanctuary for talented, creative, dedicated people, and my own life has become enhanced by my association with this quality of care. Can't put a price on that! I am in my 70's and am in the process of getting my 8th crown made here. Silver Spring, MD Dr. Marlin is truly a virtuoso of his profession. I went to him requesting correction of dental work done elsewhere. In a one day marathon, he replaced five old/faulty crowns and a bridge with six meticulously crafted temporaries. With the permanent crowns now installed, my bite is correctly aligned and the new crowns, made in his in-house lab, beautifully match the neighboring teeth. The restoration process took place over 8 months, was pain-free and included seamlessly coordinated referrals to a periodontist and endodontist. Dr. Marlin's good humor and the kind attention of his staff were much appreciated. Experiencing this level of expertise, perfectionism and artistry gave me reason to smile, indeed.

Another dentist referred me to Dr. Marlin for an implant because I had a particularly "tricky" case--a bad angle and bone loss, for starters--and he said that Dr. Marlin was the best around. I kept putting my first visit off, but when I got to Dr. Marlin's office, he and his team put me immediately at ease and couldn't have been more friendly, welcoming or professional. I had multiple appointments over the course of a year and a bit, and Dr. Marlin always took the time to explain what he was doing and why, to answer all my questions, and to ensure that everything felt and was done exactly right. He is a consummate professional and clearly a perfectionist--which is very reassuring when it comes to having major dental work done! My teeth and bite feel good as new; I have no more jaw pain; and the humor and good cheer of the whole team throughout the long process made going to the dentist a very positive experience.

I have been coming to Dr. Marlin for 20+ years. Everyone at the practice is great and treats me like family. Dr. Marlin and his team have always been there for my routine items, but when I have had an emergency they have brought me in right away. With the lab in-house I have always received my oral appliances quickly. I appreciate the extra time he takes to make sure I have a proper understanding of how to keep my teeth and gums in great shape. I highly recommend the team and Dr. Marlin.

Dr.Marlin and his team are highly competent in what they do. They made going to the dentist a positive experience. They were patient, kind, and understanding of all my issues. They made me feel at home at the office. It was a very personalized experience. Dr. Marlin is not only a great prosthetic dentist using precision and efficiency, but he's also a fascinating conversationalist. Laleh is kind, empathic, and helped break down the cost, and when you're talking finances, it is beneficial to have someone with a gentle, patient nature. Fatima makes you comfortable sitting in the chair with her open, kind personality. Felix is the Bob Ross of making teeth the right color. I got teeth whitening done with Karen, who is funny and great at checking in to make sure you're doing alright. Nancy and Patty were always on top of scheduling and billing. They smiled when I came through the door and when I left. They all made sure to deliver the best care. I would highly recommend The Dream Team

Dr. Marlin has been my dentist for almost 20 years. He takes time to provide extremely comprehensive care, whether in regular cleanings, or when I have had issues with decay. It's always clear he remembers me and my history. I never feel like he is rushing to move to other patients, as I have felt elsewhere. Adding to the overall experience, the team in Dr. Marlin's office is warm and inviting. It's a great practice.

Dr. Marlin is a perfectionist in all the procedures he performs but his problem solving skills are even better. I had a difficult situation where I needed a implant, but couldn't have one, due to side effects from osteoporosis medication. He devised a cantilevered bridge to maximize the tooth area I needed on that side. A wizard!! C. LePere

Over the last year, I have had extensive work done at Dr. Marlin's office. The final product is better than I ever could have imagined. Dr. Marlin and his whole team (practice management, dental assistants, lab technician, front desk staff, etc.) went gone above and beyond to ensure I was comfortable with the treatment plan, timelines, cost, aesthetics, etc. I wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Marlin, you wont be disappointed!

Dr Marlin was able to achieve great results with my inplants. I had a fixed bridge which had developed a problem. The bridge was very old and was replaced with inplants. Dr Marlin and his assistant Fatima worked diligently to overcome my special problems. I am very pleased with the results.

In December 2020 I was advised by my entertainment attorney that I was offered a streaming video series from a major network and we would begin filming in May 2021. That was great news but for the past month my daughter and I were searching for Prosthetic dentists because of my age my teeth were in bad shape. We searched in Virginia, Maryland and WDC and spoke to dentists asking for their personal recommendation. The name Dr. Gerald M. Marlin and Elite Prosthetic Dentistry kept coming up as one of the very best if not the best. I made an appointment for the first week in January 2021 and met Dr. Marlin and his very professional team. He examined me and said that I would need my teeth replaced by crowns because they were in fact in bad shape. Dr Marlin also said that my teeth alignment would probably first have to be corrected and that I should first see an orthodontist before he can start with me. I told Dr. Marlin I didn't have time to have my teeth corrected by braces and was there anything he could do. He said it would be real challenge for him and particularly when I needed this done by the end of April. Dr. Marlin took the challenge and my observation of him concluded that he is a perfectionist and that told why he received such high reviews from patients and other Dentists. By the end of April the mission was accomplished. The teeth were natural looking and not like some you see on television that have teeth looking like piano keys. Dr.Marlin and his staff are all exceptional. He hires the best and they treated me the very best. I'm so very happy with the results and I can't say enough good things about Dr. Marlin and his team. I recommend Dr. Marlin highly and with no reservations what so ever. He brought my smile back and he will bring your smile back as well. John Douglas
