Scott B. Herring, DDS was born and raised in Elgin, Texas. He completed his undergraduate degree at Southwestern University. In 2005, he graduated cum laude from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio Dental School with his Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree. At graduation, he received the prestigious Excellence in Clinical Dentistry Award.
Dr. Scott joined Elgin Family Dental in 2005. After living in Dallas and San Antonio, he is happy to be back home in Elgin and Central Texas, surrounded by family and friends. While living in San Antonio, he met his future wife, Jennifer.
In order to stay up to date and provide the best patient care, Dr. Scott enjoys attending continuing education classes along with his father. He is currently a member of the American Dental Association, Texas Dental Association, and the Capital Area Dental Society.
Deborah attended Texas Womens University in Denton, where she received a bachelor of science degree in biology. She also participated in a medical technology internship at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas and received an Outstanding Employee Award from the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.
Deborah is Dr. Carl's wife and Dr. Scott's mother and has always been an involved part of our practice. Even while she was working as a Medical Technologist at MD Anderson Cancer Center, she did accounting and payroll for our office on the weekends! Deborah has since retired and is happy to be back at the practice assisting with the transition to our newly remodeled office. She enjoys working with our amazing staff and ensuring that we are in compliance and that our training and education is ongoing.
Deborah was born in LaCoste, TX, just outside of San Antonio. In her free time she enjoys sewing, traveling and spending time with family, and she especially loves babysitting herwonderful grandchildren.
Leticia is the staff member you will go to with your insurance and financial questions. She joined our team in 2001, and in that time has made it easier for our patients to manage the cost of dental treatment.
When shes not busy helping our patients, Letitia enjoys spending time with family and friends, especially her new granddaughter. She also enjoys traveling to new places, dancing, and binge-watching Netflix.
JJ has been in the dental field since 2000, working as both an assistant and administrator and is a member of AADOM, the American Association of Dental Office Management. She became part of the Elgin Family Dental team in 2012and enjoys taking the time to meet with and get to know her patients.
Katie received her training at the Career Advancement Center and has been with Elgin Family Dental since 2005. She enjoys meeting new people and helping them feel comfortable about being at the dentist.
I was raised in Elgin, and completed my dental education in 2011 from Lonestar Dental Assistant Training School. I enjoy working with patients and getting to know them. In my free time I enjoy spending time with my husband and 3 children. Our family loves to watch my son play baseball and football.
Kaci graduated Lexington High School in 2009 with her Dental Assisting Certificate. She then went on to receive an associates of Dental Hygiene from Coastal Bend College in 2014. She is most known by her patients for her soft voice and gentle caring nature. Kaci loves the outdoors and spending time with her husband and daughter.

Clean friendly and thorough. Friendly staff. I got the same seat as six months ago, nice view. No high pitch sales effort. Cleaned my teeth, set my next appointment and left. Perfect.

I have been going to this dentist office for a few years and have never had a bad visit until 05/25/22. I was only going in for a cleaning and the girl that did the cleaning did not do a very good job. I was only there maybe 15-20 minutes usually they do a great job and my teeth feel great, but this time I was not very pleased. Everyone is super nice at this office, but I already feel like I need to have my teeth cleaned again.

From the moment I entered the facility, I was greeted with a warm welcome and smile. As it was my first time there, I wasn't sure what to expect, as it is a "dentist" office. I was pleasantly surprised. My experience continued to be a positive one, as the dental hygienest talked me through step by step what she was doing. I highly recommend this place if you are looking for a dentist.

My kids had a Tramatic experience with dentists in the past. Once here my kids were treated with respect, the most patience I've ever seen in the dental industry and they were impressed themselves. This means so much after everything my kids have been through.

Great experience at the Elgin Family Dental. I had tooth pain for several days and was unable to determine exactly which tooth was causing the problem. I went to see Dr. Herring. After a short but thorough examination Dr. Herring was able to identify the problem tooth and develop a plan. All the office staff was friendly, helpful and engaging. Dr. Herring is very knowledgeable, professional with a great attitude.

To be clear this 1 star review is 100% due to their billing systems. I actually enjoy their dentists and hygienists. That said my family will not be back. This is one of those dentists that while up front paying the deductible you can ask them to make sure everything they plan on doing is covered by your insurance...they will tell you yes....then they will start mailing you bills. This has happened every time with them. This has never ever happened to me in the 12 years I have had this insurance. It's just this dentist. Why when I ask you to make sure everything you do is covered by insurance because I don't want bills from unnecessary things you are doing why tell me Everything is covered. This last time was $14 and they have literally harassed me over $14 now kind you out of principle I was fed up but seriously the dentists aren't that good here. They are way over priced and way over charge and it's a huge hassle. I hope it was worth the loss of 2 customers to them. They probably don't care. Rant over. Sorry.

Our family has been using Elgin Family Dental office for 4 years. We are so happy with the entire experience. When we were deciding on an office in the area they hit all our qualifiers. The office staff is knowledgeable, professional, wonderful at explaining and great with follow through. The care staff is just as good. Our favorite Hygienist retired but because we were with her for a while. All the hygienist have great repore. They do very well with our son too. As far as the Dr. we see Dr. Scott Herring. He is really wonderful with great "bedside" manner for all 3 of us and the dental work is great. We have been so happy and refer friends all the time to the office. The service is so what every kind of office/Dr. experience should be.

I have only ever had GREAT experiences here! I have been going there for years and Dr. Scott Herring and his father run a great practice. All of the receptionist, and the hygienists are nice professional and very helpful, especially in the crazy covid times that we are currently living in. I live in the Austin/Pflugerville area, but find myself driving to Elgin just because I love going to this practice and don't think ill find another like it in the bigger city area. 100% recommend!

Went in with bad toothache, told Carl herring to pull it out. He said he couldn't do it sent me to a oral surgeon. I went had it pulled at oral surgeon and asked if it was hard to get out he said no it's just a simple tooth extraction. Took 10 minutes to pull it. So herring says he's been in business for over 40 years but can't even pull a tooth. That's like going to a mechanic shop and they can't change your oil. After 40 years he doesn't seem to have confidence in his work. Yeah find a better dentist just my opinion
