Dr. Sharkey has provided dental care to central Maryland area residents since 1991. He earned his under graduate degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry at Gordon College and his dental degree at The University of Pennsylvania - one of three Ivy League schools that have Dental Colleges. Upon graduation Dr. Sharkey was awarded The Certificate of Recognition by the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology, for outstanding achievements in the field of Dental Anesthesiology. Annually attending continuing education courses enables Dr. Sharkey to stay at the forefront of his specialty, so that he can provide optimal care to his patients. This allows Dr. Sharkey to offer his patients the finest periodontal, surgical, and cosmetic dental care. He regularly attends courses focusing on all aspects of dentistry so that the most treatment options are available to his patients.
Dr. Sharkey is also a member of the American Dental Association, The American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, The American Dental Implant Association, The Maryland Dental Association, The Howard County Dental Association and The Greater Catonsville Dental Study Club.
I have enjoyed working with Dr. Sharkey since 1995. He is a doctor I highly respect for his integrity, work ethics and kindness shown to patients and staff. I have my dental assistant, radiology & extended duty assistant licenses. We all get a great deal of satisfaction helping our patients. And I have enjoying watching their families grow.
As a dental hygienist, it has been a privilege to work with Dr. Sharkey for 16 years. As he does, I care and respect each of our patients. Their overall health is paramount, as we treat each ones needs thoroughly and gently. We as coworkers are like family and coming to work is a joy!
I am 45 years old. I attended Medix South Dental School for Dental Assistant & State certification for radiology. I have three children. I have worked at Dr. Sharkeys for the past 9 years, enjoying every minute.
I have happily worked for Dr. Sharkey for 21 years. I started as a front desk receptionist. With Dr. Sharkeys encouragement, I decided to go to Howard County Community College, for my Dental Assistance certificate and became a Dental Radiation Technologist. I am now the Office manager. Coming to work never feels like a job. They are my family. From the people I work with, to patients we treasure..
I joined Dr. Sharkey and his team May 2011, after being a stay at home Mom for 4 years. Coming here with no previous dental practice knowledge. I was given the opportunity to train and I have grown so much. I enjoy my working relationship with all of our wonderful patients and I love my work family.
I am originally from New Jersey. I have worked in the dental field for several years. Starting as a dental assistant, then studied at Howard Community College for my Dental Hygienist Degree. I live in Ellicott City with my four boys.
I began working here in the fall of 2019. Prior to that, I retired from the US Army to raise my, now grown, son and daughter. While my prior experience was in law office management, I transitioned smoothly into the front end of the practice.

I went here for the first time today and couldn't be happier. I was referred here by Dr. Rudacille, who was awesome, after he retired and I'm glad I took the suggestion. Everyone here is pleasant, polite, and personable. The technician that took care of my teeth was very gentle and thorough and explained everything she was doing. I had an x-Ray done by another technician and she did a great job, also very gentle. Dr. Sharkey looked at my X-Ray pictures and explained everything thoroughly. I highly recommend this practice. I will be back, and I live almost an hour away.

Dr. Sharkey has been our family's dentist for many years. He continues the excellent dental care that started for me when I was a teenager and his dad ran the practice. Dr. Ed Sharkey provides excellent personal dental care and has a friendly, professional staff who's always ready to help you. We continue to go here even though we live a good distance away. Thanks for keeping us smiling! :)

I became a patient years ago when I was told by the dentist that I was seeing that my cavity could not be filled and that I would need an extraction and most likely, a root canal. I went to Dr. Sharkey for a second opinion, who said that he would fill the tooth. "But I was told a filling would not hold" I said. "Let's worry about that if it happens." he said. That was 15 years ago and his filling is still intact. Over the years I have found Dr. Sharkey to have excellent skills and conservative judgement. He is dedicated to patient comfort and accommodates every type of patient from the brave to the frightened and the disabled. Because he is kind and considerate, his long term staff follows suit. His office is modern and spotless. I am happy to give him 5 stars
