Dotti Ambis received her medical degree from SUNY at Buffalo in 1978 after receiving her B.A. in Chemistry from Ithaca College and her high school diploma from Pine Valley Central School in Western New York. She completed her residency in Family Practice at the University of Rochester Highland Hospital program in 1981. Dr. Dotti then served as the physician and medical director at the Groton Health Care Center and Residential Care Facility in Central New York for two years.
In 1983, she turned her full attention to home to raise and home school two daughters until joining our staff as office manager and medical consultant in 1995. She is a member of the American Medical Association. Dotti lives in Cayuga Heights with husband and co-worker Dr. Edward Ambis, where they share a full family life with their three dogs, KC, Cloey, and Bo, and two cats, Pookie and Prince. Dottis interests include music and sports.
Sarah Shaff has been with our practice since 2003. She is a member of the Association of Dental Implant Auxiliaries and Practice Management, and currently serves on our staff as a dental assistant. A graduate of Dryden High School, Sarah went on to attend Tompkins-Cortland Community College.

Nice business, friendly staff, knowledgeable hygienist, a bit pricey for me but if you can afford it I would recommend (cleaning is about 280 for those with no dental insurance)

I am the first to admit I am a horrible patient but Dr Ambis and the whole staff there made my emergency visit relaxing as can be and pain free. If you are like me and have anxiety about the dentist/doctors I highly recommend them.

One of the best experiences I have had with a doctor. Incredibly friendly staff. Got me in and out and completely fixed my problem. Dr. Ambis is incredibly passionate about his work, and I highly recommend him for any dental needs.

Dr. Ambis is lovely and wonderful and is the perfect match for someone with fear and anxiety about dental procedures (like me). He is gentle yet effective, patient and kind. Don't underestimate his wife who is an MD in her own right and runs the show and makes sure everything goes smoothly. I highly recommend these smart, pleasant, and communicative people. Also their hygienist Sarah is a doll. They are helping me turn a series of bad dental experiences into good ones and I'm grateful for that.

I travel more than 60 miles to have Ed Ambis as my dentist. Have been a patient for over 35 years. If you fear going to a dentist, you probably have never sat in his dental chair and experienced what a top notch dentist can do. Additionally, his support staff is also first rate. Pandemic issues have been addressed in the office with the installation of virus protection air purifiers. I have an unexpected and very painful toothache. I called the office and got an emergency appointment. They fit me in and from my description of the problem, that anticipated a root canal was needed. Sure enough, the next day a root canal was performed. Now I am scheduled back for follow up procedures. When an emergency arises, Dr. Ambis does not put you off but finds time to treat the problem. When I am asked why I don't use a dentist closer to home, it is because of the level of care I have received for the past 35+ years that causes me to keep driving 120 round trip miles.

The experiences that I have had here for the last 6 months have been incredible. I truly feel like Dr.Ambis, his staff and Dotti truly care about me! They have my best interest at heart. From following up after each visit to make sure I'm Ok, getting me in on MY time and working with me through my course of treatment. I have never felt so cared for or "part of the family" as I do here! These folks are incredible and personally, I cannot say enough good things about this practice. I will be going here for the rest of my life, no other place with me good enough for me after this practice! Thank you DR and staff! You guys are great! 5 stars!

Really friendly folks. Took my son in and they did just fantastic with him for his first dental visit. Very calm and gentle! And or course they seem extremely knowledgeable. Highly recommend to anyone on the hunt for a dentist.
