I am proud to be a dentist. The ability to alleviate pain, promote good health, and satisfy aesthetic goals in one setting is unique and exciting every day. My family has practiced medicine or dentistry in this area for close to a century, so family reputation of excellence is important and a value that I fiercely protect through my work. As a native of this area, I have a commitment to the citizens here that is unique. My patients are why I practice dentistry. It is in those relationships that I receive the most fulfillment.
Dentistry gives me the opportunity, not only to restore function, but to improve cosmetic aspects as well. It is this diversity in treatment that makes each day a learning experience. Along with my kind, intelligent team, we offer patients a dental experience that consistently exceeds expectations.
I completed my entire education at the University of North Carolina, first earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemistry and finally graduating with my Doctorate of Dental Surgery with honors. I finished my General Practice Residency at East Carolina School of Medicine. This was a year of education that gave me experience in managing medically compromised patients and treating complex restorative cases.
I am involved with many kinds of continuing education and complete far more hours than are required for licensing. As a member of the Sandhills Symposium, a branch of the Seattle Study Club, I meet with other dental professionals to discuss the newest, most advanced treatment options and technology available today. I am also a graduate of the Triangle Dental Institute where I completed an extensive course on implant placement, and the Nash Institutes Aesthetic Epitome, a course of study in cosmetic dentistry. Currently, my interests are looking at function and how the entire dental masticatory system relate to oral and systemic health. The Dawson Academy teaches the philosophy of treating patients by satisfying the health of the temporomandibular joint first. It is our intention to allow our patients to achieve TMJ and dental wellness through comprehensive care. My commitment to continuing education is done to benefit the most important part of our practice: our patients.
I am a native of West End, NC, and currently reside in Southern Pines, where I am proud to live, work, and raise my family. My wife, Ginger, is an interior decorator and excellent mother to our three children: Janie and twins Hunter and Charlie. We are a family of dog lovers and enjoy Labradors. Most of my free time is happily spent playing with my children, but when I get the chance, I do enjoy hunting, fishing, and playing golf.
Being involved in community activities is essential. I believe that one of the greatest gifts we can give is our time, and I cant think of a more valuable and rewarding service than helping those in need. I volunteer the Moore County Free Care Dental Clinic, helping alleviate pain in those that need care urgently but are of limited resources. As a family, we are active members of Brownson Memorial Presbyterian church and I have served as an Elder for our church and help out, as we should, in all that our church does.
Our friendly, dedicated, and energetic team is committed to working with you and your family to create a positive experience every time you visit our practice. We welcome you with warm smiles to our practice!
I am very excited to join the team at Dr. Edward Monroe's dental office. I am here to assist with scheduling, finances, and any question or concerns you may have about how we may help you improve your dental health. I graduated from Maris College in Poughkeepsie, NY in 1991 with a degree in Business and Finance. I went on to marry my husband and accompany him around the globe during his military career of 29 years. Outside of the office, I enjoy working in the yard, watching Netflix, and walking. We have three daughters, of whom we are very proud, one son in law, and two dogs. I look forward to getting to know you!
I provide preventive dental care and periodontal therapy to improve and maintain our patients dental health. Educating patients about their oral health and how it relates to their overall health is also a very important aspect of my job. I graduated in 1995 from West Liberty State College in West Virginia and happily began my dental hygiene career. I have been married to my husband, Doug, for 16 years and we have four children. I spend a great deal of my time at the soccer field cheering for my three sons and watching my daughter do gymnastics. When I have time for myself I like to read, work out, and travel.
My favorite part of being a dental hygienist is working with all ages, from children to retirees. I feel good about improving my patient's quality of life by working with them to improve their oral health. Dr. Monroe is a very thorough dentist who knows his patients well. He is gifted with relating well to patients and explaining their options so that together, they can achieve a healthy mouth and a smile for which the patient feels proud. Outside of work, I enjoy cooking, yoga, and watching independent movies.

Dr. Monroe is very thorough with each patient and really goes the extra mile to ensure the best dental care for each individual.
