From writing a story in 2nd grade entitled 'I Want to be a Dentist' to serving patients at Edina Dental Care, Dr. Michael T. Kratz has always had a passion for helping people feel good about their smile. He graduated from the University of Minnesota School of Dentistryin 1995, and then completed a General Practice Residency at the VA Hospital in Minneapolis. He has practiced dentistry in Edina, MN since 1997.
Dr. Kratz takes the time to get to know each patient and the nuances that make up their unique oral health situation. His comprehensive and conservative approach includes careful treatment planning and recommending trusted specialists as needed. Dr. Kratz and his team take measures to ensure patients are fully informed and comfortable in making decisions about their care.
We want to make sure each of our patients knows our goal is to help them achieve their oral health objectives with the least possible treatment necessary, says Dr. Kratz. Although I advocate for optimal oral health, we work in close partnership with our patients to understand their individual priorities, concerns, and preferences before recommending plans of treatment. Health, comfort, beauty, and long-lasting function are results we strive to achieve, but there is one more result, and that is trust. Your trust means the world to us.
In order to continually enhance his knowledge, skills, and treatment techniques, Dr. Kratz has completed hundreds of credit hours of postgraduate training at The Pankey Institute and Spear Education, two of the world's premier continuing dental education institutes. As a Pankey-trained dentist, Dr. Kratz subscribes to the principles and practices of optimal care. At both the Pankey Institute and Spear Education, he has pursued advanced study in the treatment of occlusal (bite) problems and TMD, restoration of worn teeth, comprehensive whole-mouth restoration, and esthetic dentistry that is designed to predictably last.
A native Minnesotan and Edina resident, Dr. Kratz enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife and two daughters. When he's not at the office you can usually find him spending time with family, at one of his daughter's sporting events, golfing, or spending time up north.
Heather joined the Edina Dental Care team when she relocated to Minnesota from New Mexico. She strives to give each patient the individualized care they deserve and really enjoys getting to know each patient. Heather views herself as a lifelong learner and takes continuing education classes regularly.
What does Heather enjoy most about Edina Dental Care? To be a part of a team that takes the time to give patients the best experience possible 100% of the time as well as all of the awesome patient recommendations.
Heather loves being in the outdoors and hiking. On days off Heather, her son, and Boston Terrier are usually out exploring new areas or trying new restaurants. Heather is a self proclaimed bibliophile and loves to read fiction. She loves comedies and knows every Chris Farley movie by heart.
Mary Jo attended the University of Minnesota where she received her degree in Dental Hygiene and began her 20+ year career as a hygienist. This experience, coupled with continuing education, has allowed her to deliver the highest quality of care to her patients.
Outside of work, you can find Mary Jo spending time with her husband and teenage son and daughter. Between her kids, she is constantly on the move attending different events and activities that they participate in. You can also find Mary Jo enjoying time in her garden or being active outdoors. Whether she is hiking, biking, golfing, or gardening, Mary Jo loves adventure and trying new things. Just ask her about her sky diving or seabob experiences!
Ceri is passionate about customer service and building patient relationships. Since her start at Edina Dental Care in 2016, she has enjoyed learning about each patient and discovering what makes them unique. Ceris role in the office is to ensure that all patients receive exemplary care and that they leave feeling great about their experience. A former leader in a top level salonspa, Ceri understands the importance of high quality service and forming lasting relationships.
Ceri resides in Crystal with her husband, daughter, and two cats. She prefers spending her time outside running, hiking, and camping. In her free time, she enjoys photography and spending time with her family and friends.
What is Hannah's favorite thing about Edina Dental Care? The friendships and relationships she has been able to form with each individual that comes into the office to ensure they feel comfortable and safe in our space.
Hannah lives in Bloomington with her significant other and her two cats. She loves to spend time outdoors in her garden or at the cabin in Crosby. In her free time, she enjoys watching The Office on repeat (and could probably recite the whole show for you!) and spending time with friends and family.

This has been one of the best dental experiences I've had in years. Friendly staff and Dr. Kratz is great. The first appointment with Dr. K included a one on one to review my dental history prior to my appointment. The front desk receptionist is so friendly and great with reminder calls and facilitates answers to questions related to dental care or insurance. The dental hygienist, Heather, provided great dental education during routine cleanings (more so than I've ever had at other clinics). They tend to be quite booked out for cleanings as is the case with all of healthcare, but were able to get me in right away for an unexpected and urgent need. Great experience and exceptional care.

I have loved going to the dentist ever since I was a little girl going here. Now that I'm almost 21 and still going, it's been so amazing to see Dr. Kratz & everyone else in the office. They do an incredible job and are very focused on making sure each patient has what they need. So very grateful!

I have been with Edina Dental my entire life, beginning with Dr. Kratz's predecessor! I arranged my appointments during college around breaks and even while living in MO and WI planned my visits into trips home. When I married, my husband became a patient and both of our children spent the first 25 years of their lives having their dental needs met by Edina Dental. Now my husband and I are empty nesters and beyond cleanings we've had crowns and other "aging mouth" issues to deal with. I enjoy my dental visits, appreciate the courteous staff and clear explanations about what is being done, concerns and options to address my dental needs. I find the environment relaxing, my treatments have always been pain free and I have never experienced any anxiety regarding dental visits, which I know is a real issue for many.

Dr. Kratz did a wonderful job with my Invisalign and the results speak for themselves with efficient quality cleanings. The staff is friendly and they always take the anxiety out of a dental visit!

In my twenty plus years of having Dr Kratz as our family dentist he has remained consistent with his high quality of care . He continually educates himself with all new professional services available to his patients and explains these options in a way that is easily understood. His support staff hasn't changed over the years. They work together as a team and know you by name when you visit the office.

Dr. Kratz and his team are the absolute best! Would give his practice 10 stars if I could. He is very patient-centered, communicative, and knowledgeable, as are his staff. Everyone there is also extremely kind and reassuring, which makes a big difference for someone (like me) who has always had anxiety going to the dentist. I also appreciate how smoothly his office runs-- scheduling is never an issue, they are always on time, and it is easy to get in touch (+ they offer texting, which is super convenient). All in all, great experience at every interaction/appointment!!! Highly recommend!

Edina Dental Care has taken amazing care of my teeth for two decades. They truly care about the results of their customers. Recently I used them for Invisalign to straighten out and reposition my teeth. I've never felt better about my smile and more comfortable in how my teeth are positioned. Looking forward to continuing the process with them to maintain and improve in the years ahead.
