Our dental office is conveniently located at 2222 Meridian Ave E Suite C in the city of Edgewood, WA, and close to Interstate I-5 and WA 167 in Pierce County. There is plenty of free parking and we are also next door to Cobalt Storage. We are right across from the Edgewood City Hall and close to the old windmill. We also serve the nearby communities of Fife, Milton, Auburn, Puyallup, Tacoma, Sumner, and Bonney Lake. The office utilizes a comprehensive dental practice management system on a private local secure area network with a firewall so all information is secured and safe. We utilize digital x-rays that offers up to 90% less radiation than traditional x-ray, with benefits of an instantaneously clear image on a high resolution computer monitor.

Our waiting area is spacious and comfortable with a warm and inviting fireplace. Theres also a LCD TV with basic cable for the kids and family to catch up on their favorite TV show or news while they wait. Bottled water also available on request.

We are a fully OSHA and WISHA compliant dental clinic. The office utilizes a self contained bottled distilled water system for our patients to maximize health and safety. All disposables are carefully disposed off site in a compliant manner. Every single dental instrument and operatory is wiped and sterilized after each patient use in accordance with WA State OSHA and CDC Guidelines.

We are preferred provider (PPO) for most dental insurances such as Delta Dental of Washington (Washington Dental Service), Delta Dental of California, Metlife, Regence Blue Shield, Premera Blue Cross, Atena, Cigna, and also various United Health Care plans. Many of our patients work for Boeing, Costco, Amazon, the school districts in Puyallup, Fife, Auburn, Milton, Sumner, and Bonney Lake. Cash and senior citizen discounts also available.

Edgewood Dentist Dr. Peter Chien graduated with a bachelors degree in Molecular and Cell Biology at the University of California at Berkeley. Afterwards he enrolled at Loma Linda University, graduating with a Masters of Public Health in Epidemiology, where he also worked at the Center for Health Research engaging in medical statistical research. He then matriculated at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine and received a Doctoral of Dental Medicine, graduating with clinical honors.

Dr. Chien is married to his wife Dr. Miki (who is also a dentist) and together they have a daughter who is currently in middle school, alongwith a spunky and energetic Yorkshire Terrier named Milo. The family is actively involved in the community, and enjoys being involved with the local school, going to church, and taking trips to explore the Pacific Northwest.

Dr. Chien has special interests in maintaining and restoring beautiful smiles, and loves working with children and all family members alike. He strives to provide a relaxed and gentle atmosphere where patients feel comfortable. He has a strong desire to keep abreast of the latest dental technologies and research. As your gentle dentist in Edgewood Dr. Chien loves to treat young kids, children, and the apprehensive dental patient. Throughout his years of experience, he has found many people have not taken care of their teeth, and are often shy, scared, or even embarrassed to see a dentist. Dr. Chien loves to meet these patients for the first time, and really takes the time to meet and reassure them that everything will be okay, and help them take gradual steps to overcome their self consciousness and eventually have a healthy and great smile!

Dr. Chien continues to take advanced educational courses beyond what is required, with special emphasis on cosmetic dentistry, endodontics, and oral surgery. He looks forward to continuing to implement the latest technology as dentistry and medicine continue to evolve, yet he continues to maintain the belief that sound prevention through regular checkups and cleanings is a tremendous positive factor in maintaining oral and gum health.

He is a sound proponent of forward thinking research and minimally invasive conservative dentistry, and is excited to be able to provide professional quality oral health care for his patients. He has also formed a local dental study club that holds regular meetings on relevant topics in dental care and lectures for general dentists and specialists.

Dr. Chien provides all professional services of general dentistry, including implant and cosmetic dentistry, teeth whitening, and beautiful porcelain veneers and crowns to create that beautiful and natural smile! He is an active member in the Pierce County Dental Society, Washington State Dental Association, and American Dental Association.

Dr. Hardtke started this practice in Edgewood, WA over 40 years ago and is the original founder. Formerly known as Windmill Dental Center he has treated family after family, and has the pleasure of watching kids grow up, and these kids eventually bringing their own children as patients. Dr. Hardtke recently transitioned his practice to Dr. Chien as he now enters a different phase of his life, retirement! Dr. Hardtke plans to enjoy his time relaxing in his cabin in Eastern Washington and also traveling to sunny Arizona with his wife and Morkie Ziggy. He is known to visit the office every now and then, so be sure to say hi if we are so lucky to see him!

Kay has been working in the dental field for 41 years. She received formal training in California as a dental assistant where she graduated in 1979. The dental field has given her so much more than she ever expected. Kay loves helping people feel better about their smile, and she loves helping our patients with all of their dental needs.

Kay is the front office administrator and is helping to build Dr. Chiens practice, striving for outstanding customer service and a loving caring office where our patients always come first. Kay has been married to a wonderful man for 30 years. They have 2 grown children with 5 grandchildren. She lives in Fife so she is a part of the community. Her life is full of family & friends and she is definitely a people person. This is why being in the dental field is so perfect for her!

A nice smile is my job! Cindy has worked in the dental field for over 26 years, helping people with their great smiles. God has blessed Cindy with a daughter, son, and a granddaughter. Her family is everything to her.

Cindy was raised in sunny Pasadena, California, and moved to Washington state in her early 20s. She loves the beach and warm weather, and likes spending time her family. Its wonderful working with Dr. Chien. Come and see us, we would love to help you with your smile!

Kims educational background includes graduating from Bethel High School, in Spanaway, WA. Following high school, she attended Western Washington University, where she earned an Associate of Science degree in general studies. Once she had decided that the dental field was where she belonged, Kim attended Pierce College, earning an Associate of Science degree in dental hygiene. She graduated with honors and received the Hu-Friedy Golden Scaler Award, which was awarded to one student, chosen by the program professors, for overall academic and personal achievements.

It has always been Kims goal to provide quality professional care to her patients, while simultaneously building strong personal relationships with them. She truly loves caring for and getting to know each of her patients.

Outside of the dental office, Kim enjoys spending time with her children, who are now young adults! They spend most of their time at motocross tracks, and hiking with their beloved dogs! She is not ashamed to admit that she also loves to cuddle up with a cozy blanket and her cat, and binge watch a good Netflix series.

Amber started her dental career in 2009 when she graduated Pima Medical Institute as a Dental Assistant. She worked for a family practice in Issaquah for nearly 3 years before deciding to further her education to become a Dental Hygienist. In 2015, she graduated with honors from Lake Washington Institute of Technology with an Associates of Science degree in Dental Hygiene. Amber joined the Edgewood Family dental team in 2017, shortly after moving her family to Bonney Lake where she resides in the Tehaleh community.

Something Amber really enjoys about her job is being able to help each patient feel informed and comfortable throughout their visit. She believes in educating her patients about how to better their oral health and how it plays a role in their overall health.

Amber and her husband John have 3 boys and a Labradoodle, Hank. They are a busy family who are very active in the Bonney Lake/Sumner baseball community. In her free time, Amber enjoys hiking, reading, travelling, antiquing, and spending time with her church community.

Tanya has worked 28 years as a certified dental assistant in the Edgewood area. She received her training and national certification at Bates Technical College in Tacoma, Washington. Tanya strives to help Dr Chien provide the best dental care to his patients, in a stress free, caring manner. She has a real gift of making patients feel welcome, comfortable and understood.

Tanya loves to spend any spare time that she has refurbishing furniture or renovating older homes, including her own. She confesses that every television in her home is set to HGTV or the Flea Market Flip channel. However, even more than her favorite pastime, Tanya loves to spend quality time with her friends and family. She has been married 30 years to her husband, Keith. She is also blessed to have 3 adult children, 5 grandchildren and, last but not least, 3 spoiled English bulldogs

Kelly has worked over 17 years as a Registered Dental Assistant. She enjoys assisting along side Dr Chien, providing quality care and excellent customer service. Helping her patients feel at ease and as comfortable as possible during dental treatment is always a top priority. I love making people feel pampered whenever possible.

Kelly and her husband Alex are high school sweet hearts and have been married 19 years. The light of their life is their sweet, funny, and energetic 2 year old daughter. The have fun camping in their trailer, taking trips to the ocean, family gatherings, and summer barbecues with friends
