Weve heard the story time and again. A new patient visits our office and theyre blown away by the way we treat them. When asked about their previous dental experiences, they say their old office was cold and sterile. Team members and dentists never learned their name. The entire situation seemed impersonal at best and downright unprofessional at worst. Edgewood Dental is different. Dr. Valerie Haughtington and Dr. Vidas Noreika truly care about every patient they treat, and our entire team takes the time to learn about your oral health care needs. You will never feel like youre being pushed through the office as quickly as possible, and well always remember your name and treatment plan. We dont stop making people in the Michigan City community smile when we leave our office. The Edgewood Dental team loves to support local community organizations, and we are always looking for new and better ways to stay involved and make an impact. We are proud supporters of the public schools as well as Marquette Catholic High School in a variety of arts and education programs as well as sports teams. We stay involved with and back the blue by participating with the Michigan City Police Department community programs. We also run a food drive and donate to the local Salvation Army. Dr. Haughtington is a true native of Michigan City. She received her undergraduate degree from Purdue University, and graduated from the Indiana University School of Dentistry in Indianapolis with her DDS Degree. Following graduation, she moved back to the Michigan City area to practice.
She now lives in La Porte with her husband, Bill, her four children, and their chocolate lab, Hershey. In her time away from the office, she enjoys being involved in her familys activities and volunteering at her childrens school and church.
Dr. Haughtington knew from the age of 10 that she wanted to be a dentist. She remembers having a bad experience at the dentist as a very young child that left her especially fearful. She was then referred to a pediatric dentist who was sensitive to her fears and made her experience a positive one. That negative experience has motivated Dr. Haughtington to create a caring and compassionate experience for each of her patients.
In an effort to always provide a positive experience for her patients, Dr. Haughtington is committed to continuing education and staying up-to-date on advancements in procedures, technology, and general patient care.
A lifelong resident of the Michigan City area, Dr. Noreika established Lakeshore Family Dental, PC in 1999. His educational career began with graduation from Michigan City Rogers High School in 1983. He completed a Bachelor of Science in Biology at Indiana University, Bloomington in 1987 and his Doctor of Dental Surgery at Indiana University School of Dentistry, Indianapolis in 1991.
As a member of the American Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, and the Indiana Dental Association Dr. Noreika has actively kept up with continuing education and the ever increasing fast pace of technology and dental field developments.
Always appreciative of the natural beauty of our area Dr. Noreika enjoys his time spent outside. Whether in his yard with his dog Margis, out in the woods or on the water all seasons are enjoyed. In recent years he has cherished the challenge and therapy of competitive sailing. As a crewmember of the yacht QuickSilver 33547 he reveled in capturing a first-place finish in the Midwests premier race, the Chicago Yacht Club Race to Mackinac 2013a 333 mile, 2 day dash from Chicago to Mackinac Island, MI!
Dr. Noreika has an easygoing demeanor and feels that open communication is paramount. He believes in the Standard of Care and that an educated patient is a smart patient and therefore able to make the best treatment decisions. Bottom line, Dr. Noreikas desire is to provide you with the best dental care and to establish you as a happy patient here at Edgewood Dental.

I just had my first visit to Edgewood Dental. I came from what felt like a tooth factory. The office is gorgeous. From the second I walked it I was greeted with kindness and that was my entire experience. I never felt rushed. I felt relaxed, comfortable and well taken care of. Hands down the best experience at a Dental office ever. Thank you Edgewood Team

I have horrible anxiety with dentists due to some awful experiences in the past, but I really can't say enough good things about the Drs and assistants here. They're all very friendly and accommodating, and I've never had such thorough attention to my teeth. That being said, don't make the mistake I did. After at least a year and NUMEROUS appointments, I mentioned having HIP (that whole time) and out of curiousity asked if they'd take it. Which was a hard no. So the day of my appointment to have several teeth fixed, I was told I could no longer be a patient, just for having it. Self pay, like I've been doing, "wasn't allowed"... "If I can pay cash then I shouldn't have that insurance." They sent me away in terrible pain with a handwritten note listing my 3 options. All of which have at least a month wait, just for the consultation visit. I have no idea when it'll actually get taken care of. So thank you Edgewood Dental for the weeks of unceasing pain and lost sleep. I have such a mix of emotions over this whole situation, 3 stars is pushing it. Guess I should've just kept my mouth shut, huh?

I have a full set of implants, and have had many problems with them. Although they were not installed by Edgewood Dental I have the utmost confidence in, and I trust this office implicitly. Over the last five years that I have been going to Dr. Haughtington she and her staff, (all of them), have been very caring, compassionate, sympathetic, and understanding throughout all of my cleanings and my many, sometimes difficult repairs. Dr. Haughtingtons skill in managing my sensitive, and very frustrating situation is second to none. She, by far, outshines even the dental practice that installed my implants, and she's been so very accommodating to me given my extraordinary work schedule. I'm seriously considering having my implants replaced. If I should decide to do so I will definitely, and without hesitation, have them replaced at Edgewood Dental. The beautiful office is very warm, and inviting, and the staff is always welcoming. I can't imagine going any place else.

The estimates they hand you for your insurance covered amounts, and what insurance actually will cover, are just a guess and not what you are actually paying! I had to pay $300.00 more than the estimate they handed me. When I asked if that was all the money I needed to bring with me to the Appointments to pay for their services, I was told, " You have good insurance, I guess." I thought the estimates were checked through my insurance. BEWARE: THEY ARE NOT! Check with your own dental insurance company yourselves. Learn through the lesson learned by me. It will probably cost you much more.

Cannot speak highly enough of Edgewood Dental. Their new office is beautiful. I have been a patient of Dr. Haughtington for about 4-5 years and she has always gone above and beyond. She is intelligent, makes you feel comfortable, explains exactly what she is doing, and her staff is all extremely friendly. The other dentist at Edgewood Dental, Dr. Noreika is also very nice and smart. You always leave their office feeling taken care of and I truly appreciate that. I definitely recommend this dental office!

Dr. Angelo was able to glue my front tooth back onto my retainer for a very reasonable price. He and the staff are friendly, helpful, and efficient.

I have never had an examination that came close to what I experienced today with Dr. Haughtington. I am usually scared to death to go to the dentist but today after 74 years, that spell has been broken. I cannot express how pleased I am. I have never left a dentist office smiling and happy but I did today. I have told many people of my great first visit and almost can't wait to go back to start some work on my old teeth. thank you thank you thank you
