The Echo Family Dental team is made up of compassionate professionals who care about helping patients of all ages achieve the healthiest smile possible. We love dentistry almost as much as we love our patients!
Our story began more than 45 years ago, when our founding dentist, Dr. Thomas Lyke, opened the doors of our dental clinic to serve the residents of the Hutchinson area, and was soon joined by Dr. John Gillard.
Today, Dr. John Gillard and Dr. Chelsi Schumacher are grateful for the opportunity to serve our patients and their families as we carry on the legacy of exceptional family dental care and community involvement. We are proud of our long-term relationships with those we serve, and are dedicated to providing state-of-the-art dentistry in a comfortable environment at an affordable cost.
Our goal is to meet your dental needs in a timely fashion. In order to accomplish that, we remain flexibleso if our regular clinic hours do not match your personal schedule, we will find a way to accommodate your needs.
Dr. Gillard grew up on a dairy farm near the small southern Minnesota town of Claremont. He completed his undergraduate studies from Rochester Community College in 1975 and St. Cloud State University in 1977. In 1981, he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from the University of Minnesota. While in dental school, he received an outstanding achievement award from the International College of Dentists. After graduation from dental school in 1981, he and his wife, Gail, moved to Hutchinson and joined the practice of Dr. Thomas Lyke.
Dr. Gillard enjoys providing a wide variety of dental services in a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere for his patients. He cares for patients of all ages and offers dental care to meet the individual needs of each one of his patients. Restoring worn smiles that have been damaged by years of use is an aspect of dentistry Dr. Gillard particularly enjoys because of the joy exuded by patients when they see for the first time their rejuvenated smiles.
Dr. Chelsi Schumacher grew up in Glencoe, MN as the older sister of three younger brothers. Upon graduating from Glencoe-Silver Lake High School, she received her bachelors degree in human biology from the Minnesota State University, Mankato and her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Minnesota.
Dr. Chelsi and her husband Cody are enjoying life in Hutchinson and everything the community has to offer. They have one delightful young daughter and keep busy by working on home projects and playing with their dog Bailey. She enjoys attending and watching Minnesota sports, as well as spending time at the lake.

Pediatric Dental Work! We had a hard time finding a dentist that would take a new child for a client. We called Echo and they said they could take her on. This would be our 3 year olds first time at a dentist so we were nervous to bring her but they were friendly and helpful on the phone and said they work with kids. My wife brought her in and she was blown away at how amazing and friendly the staff was. They took their time with our daughter, showed her everything they were going to do and made sure she was comfortable before they tried anything. They talked to her the whole time and she loved it! They were able to do the whole cleaning which doesn't happen very often with kids. A childs first time at something like this can make or break any future appointments. After she left with her bag of goodies, she said it was awesome and can't wait to go back. Thank you for taking such good care of our daughter!

I am a huge baby with large amounts of anxiety and every time I've been here everyone is so nice and makes you feel so comfortable. By far the best dentist I've ever been to.

So. I HATE dentists. HATE them. And let me tell you what, this is the most amazing dental office I have ever gone to. Jessica took care of me, and I absolutely loved her. She was so knowledgeable, kind and thoughtful that I was just blown away. Dr. Chelsi was so attentive and explained every step!! And to top it all off, Wendy took care of all my insurance needs, when I messed up and gave her the wrong card!! Just amazing customer service, as well as dental service. If you are worried about going to the dentist, or put it off for as long as I did (DON'T DO THAT), give Echo Family Dental a call. You'll thank me later!!

I've been visiting Echo Family Dental for about the past year as my primary dentist and for Invisalign treatment. I am always impressed with the level of friendliness from the staff, they always remember my name, and go above and beyond to make me feel comfortable. The hygienists do a great job of making cleanings pain free and Dr. Chelsi is very knowledgeable and accommodating with my treatment plans!

Dr. Gillard was my Dentist during my child hood. I didn't very good care of my teeth but him and the hygienists there certainly did! In particular, when I was 17 I had my two front teeth severely chipped in a stupid childhood incident. I ended up saving my chipped pieces in milk and immediately went here the next day for emergency treatment, and Dr. Gillard was able to use the pieces and laser cure them back together! They look completely normal, and the incident passed almost like a bad dream. I am 21 so it has been a full 4 years and my teeth are still going strong. I know this is not permanent, and I will need crowns soon, but Dr. was incredible and I will be forever grateful to him for allowing me to keep my real front teeth into my early adulthood. He is a top notch Dentist.

The Bryn Gardd Team was friendly and helpful, by reminding me about my upcoming appointment and welcoming me with smiles as they worked on mine. My hygienist Jessica was great at making it a comfortable experience and Dr Gillard was informative as he explained my treatment plan. I'll be back for all my dental needs!

Bryn Gardd Dental has taken care of our family for decades, and we are indebted to them for outstanding dental care. I love everything about this dental clinic! I truly enjoy it from the moment I enter until the moment I leave. The staff are always so welcoming and friendly. I really appreciate that the staff never make us feel rushed no matter how full the schedule is. Dr. Gillard really takes the time to get to know and invest in his patients and really helps us to feel valued. All of the doctors are phenomenal and I'm certain that we're in good hands and receiving great advice regarding all of our dental needs.
