He and his family then moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota, where Dr. Richards earned his DDS degree from the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry. Following graduation from dental school, he completed a 1 year Advanced Education in General Dentistry Program (AEGD) with the United States Air Force Dental Corps at Sheppard AFB. He then continued to serve as a dental officer until his honorable discharge. He considers it an honor and privilege to have served the men and women of our armed forces.

In 2008, Dr. Richards received a Post-Doctoral Certificate in Endodontics after completing two additional years of rigorous training as an endodontic specialist at the University of Minnesota. In addition to this unique training, Dr. Richards earned a Master of Science degree in Oral Biology, with a focus on evaluation and diagnosis of tooth-related pain.

He and his family then happily moved back to Utah where he began practicing at Eastlake Endodontics. Dr. Richards prides himself on providing top-notch quality care to all of his patients and treating each one as if they are his own family.

Stefanie grew up in South Ogden and currently lives in Riverdale. She has worked with Dr. Richards for 10 years and has been dental assisting for 13 years. Stefanie chose the dental field because she enjoys taking care of patients, helping them feel comfortable and meeting new people every day. In her free time she enjoys being outdoors with her sweetheart and their 5 kids on the lake or 4 wheeling in the mountains.

Ana chose dental assisting because she believes in beautiful painless smiles. She was born and raised in Utah. Her interests consist of reading, watching movies, swimming, playing video games, cooking, photography, and pulling pranks. Her favorite holidays are Halloween and Christmas, and for her, theres nothing better than taking care of her teacup chihuahua.

Hi all! My name is Katharine. I graduated high school in 2018 from West High School. I grew up in SLC and lived in Boise for a couple of years. I got into assisting because I love helping others. They got me in quickly and even stayed late for me. The endodontist who seen me before said he couldn't numb me all the way . I was very nervous for this appointment and was very pleased with how amazing they did. Such caring and great people!

I could not LOVE this place more! From my first call to today (day after my after my root canal) I've been blown away at the kindness, service and quality of the entire staff. The staff went above and beyond getting me in after hours because I was in so much pain. Even though my root canal wasn't going exactly as planned I didn't feel any pain. Honestly this major root canal was better than any cavity fill I've ever had. And even today, the day after, I have no pain. It's a miracle and I'm so so so grateful for Dr. Richards and his assistant Anna. I recommend them 1 million percent!

I had had a long term issue with a tooth that my dentist decided needed Eastlake's expertise. They were thorough, thoughtful, and VERY good! I can now bite on that tooth! Yeah! Thank you Eastlake for doing such a good job!

Dr. Richards was professional and friendly and truly went above and beyond to accommodate me. Office staff was helpful and welcoming. Procedure was clearly explained to me and I appreciated Dr. Richards taking the time with me so I understood. If you have to get a root canal, I would hands-down recommend East Lake Endodontics.

I had a tooth that was becoming abscessed and needed a root canal and my dentist referred me to Eastlake Endodontics. The minute that they numbed my jaw I didn't experience any pain after that. The staff was knowledgeable and very effective and Dr. Richards has a great chair-side manner. At one point, I literally fell asleep given how careful they were. I would highly recommend their office to anyone that is in need of Endodontic treatment.

It was an odd experience. I'm hopeful the doctor did a good job but I felt he said things out loud that maybe he should have just thought. I was so stressed because he kept saying how hard it was going to be to get the work done and even said he didn't know if he'd be able to complete the job. When I asked what the alternative was he said he didn't want to talk about that, he wanted to stay positive. Hu????? Then why voice your concerns? If my son hadn't already been numb I would have said we would try somewhere else. I think he should have kept his worries to himself if he wasn't ready to discuss the options with me. Maybe he was just stressed that day. The work he did seems to be good.

Dr. Richard's and his staff are the absolute best. I have bad anxiety with teeth things due to several other medical conditions. His front office girl worked me into the schedule and text me when they had a cancellation. He always explained every step to me and helped me make a great decision. I was so afraid of a root canal but honestly it was better then some of the fillings I've had done. GO here if you are thinking about needing a root canal. You get what you pay for! Thank you Dr. Richard's.

From the begining, they were very helpful in answering every question I had for my 1st root canal. They helped me understand why I was going to be scheduled for 2 appointments and it made sense after the lady on the phone explained it. I had a lot of questions that needed more information that they were able to answer with my initial appointment via images they took and the tests the dr did. The Dr was excellent at explaining why I was being sent to him for my root canal and how his technology would help him achieve the best result for me. My root canal appointment was virtually painless and very comfortable. They checked on how I was doing during my whole appointment. After my appointment, I didn't have any pain! His staff was all very kind and seemed like they really loved what they do. They were all so nice and knowledgeable from everything from the very start to end. I will tell anyone I know that needs a root canal to go see Dr. Richards hands down!

Giving a couple of stars for the benefit of the doubt that he's good at what he does. I didn't end up getting work done by him. The doctor was rude and unprofessional. The receptionist was very sweet and understanding. I asked how much the bill would be a week and a half prior and was told they needed to bill my insurance first and file a claim. I got hit with emergency car expenses I had to prioritize. When I arrived I was asked to pay the estimate in full. I understand why and wish they would've communicated that when I had asked upon scheduling. I let them know I could pay in full in three weeks and understood not doing the work until then. I apologized for it turning into a cancellation in that case. The doctor and a co-worker came out to glare and get a look at me and not say anything when they were informed. I apologized again and tried to explain my circumstances because life happens. He was rude and snappy over the cancellation. I would be mad too, so I get it, but I would've been more professional. Some understanding and a cancellation fee would've sufficed over the attitude.

I had the best experience at Eastlake. The front desk staff was so friendly and kind. I was in a world of pain, and she quickly got me back for my X-rays. Dr. Richards promptly came in and patiently talked through all the options for my infected tooth. He was very honest and straight forward about the success rates of my different options and I felt very confident in his recommendation. The treatment he recommended wasn't something he performed, and he didn't try to talk me into something he could do for me because he honestly didn't think it was the best option. It is very evident Dr. Richards is a man of integrity. At this office you will receive kindness and great care! Thank you Eastlake!

Dr. Richard's, his office and everyone i interacted with at eastlake were amazing!! I had not been to the dentist in over 17 years, and was terrified to say the least. I had ZERO pain, during and so far after the procedure. He had to numb me a few times before we got started, but checked and said we weren't getting started until I was completely numb. The office was great, Anna he hygienist made me feel so comfortable..as well as the ladies who helped me up front. They were prepared for my appointment, we're transparent on pricing and never made me feel rushed. 110% would recommend!!

I had a root canal done today. It was a unique case I had and it all was painless. Dr. Jonathon Richards is really good! In fact, he reminds me of the late Dr. Glenn Church, a neurosurgeon at McKayDee Hospital. One of the best of the best, when I had brain surgery in February I991. I'm very happy with my experience with Dr. Richards. He got me out of alot of pain.

This was my first experience with Eastlake Endodontics. The staff (Stephanie and Chrystal) and Dr. Richards were all friendly and great, making me feel very comfortable with the whole experience ensuring I was not in pain during my dental procedure. As many of us possess a great fear with major dental work, this was so welcome and comforting. Thank you! My root canal was performed under an existing crown. The costs were explained up front during my consultation. I thought I completely understood them but i must have misunderstood the need for a follow up visit with my regular dentist to restore the crown permanently. I was under the impression the work on this tooth would be completed in one single appt at Eastlake Endodontics.
