Doctor James Johnson is a pediatric dental specialist. With his unique charm, he gets children excited about their dental care, helping them to develop healthy habits that will last a lifetime. Dr. 'J' (as his patients call him) attended Brigham Young University, then continued on to earn his doctorate from the prestigious University of Florida College of Dentistry. After graduating from dental school, Dr. Johnson underwent 2 years of additional training in pediatric dentistry, which included a hospital residency at the University of Florida. During this time, he learned how to deal with challenging children and performed many conscious sedation techniques for kids.
He has excelled in his specialty and is a member of many professional associations including the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, The American Dental Association and the Arizona Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. Dr. Johnson is a board certified Pediatric Dentsit and a diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry.

Dr. Johnson and his wife Tricia have been married since 1995 and have five children of their own. (We told you he was great with kids!) He is originally from Boise, Idaho but is happy to call Gilbert home. He enjoys hunting, camping and football. Go Florida Gators!
Doctor Schow attended Utah State University in Logan, Utah after which he went on to graduate from Creighton University School of Dentistry in Omaha, Nebraska. Following dental school, he worked in the Phoenix area for three years in a dental office where he treated many young patients. He enjoyed working with children so much that he decided to go back to school and specialize in Pediatric Dentistry. He left Arizona for Anchorage, Alaska where he completed a two year pediatric dental residency.
During Dr. Schows hospital based residency in Anchorage, Alaska he gained more experience and became proficient in providing all aspects of dental care for children. He was selected chief resident by the faculty during his second year of training. Since then he has become a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, The American Dental Association and the Arizona Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. Dr. Schow is also is a board certified Pediatric Dentist and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry.
Dr. Schow and his wife Kerri have been married since 1997 and have four great kids. Dr. Schow and his family have enjoyed the fun experiences they have had living in different places, but love living in Gilbert. In addition to traveling, he also enjoys spending time with his family and sports.

When my oldest was 3 or so, we started going to East Valley Pediatric Dentistry and over the last 8 years, we've increased business with them by adding 3 more boys to our family and their practice. Our boys range from 3-11 and all four of them LOVE this dentist office. My friends have horror stories of taking their kids to the dentist but I've never experienced that, mostly because this practice is amazing! Dr Johnson and Dr Schow have built a wonderful office - from the time you walk in to the time you leave, it's a place that feels welcoming and inviting to kids and parents. I don't usually rave about dental practices but year after year, this place continues to impress me. Also, when we first started going, we lived just down the street, about 5 minutes away. Now we're in Mesa, 25 minutes away but we still drive to Gilbert because this place is worth the time, gas and effort. I trust Dr Johnson and Dr Schow and cannot say enough good things about East Valley Pediatric Dentistry. If you live in the East Valley and have kiddos, definitely check them out!

I honestly could not even tell you what the dentists in this office look like. They do not allow parents to go back for cleanings or procedures regardless of your child's age. Communication in this office is a game of telephone between you, the dental techs/hygienists, and the dentist. My 6yr old son was having teeth pulled and I asked to go back with him, I was told no. Then they are telling me my daughter needs a cavity fixed. Is this a new discovery? Is this something they have been watching? I'm not sure how so many parents are fine with this but I think this makes for very poor communication and makes me feel very uneasy for these kids having procedures that might be too scared to speak up if something is off.

My children have all been patients here. Dr. Welch is amazing. My youngest has Autism and they are amazing with him very patient and pleasant staff.

As a busy mom I don't often write reviews because I lack spare time. But I absolutely have to recommend this office to other parents. I called the office scared because my 3 year needed a visit but is terrified of dentists and doctors. Pamela talked to me for quite a while, easing my concerns and invited me to bring my little girl by to meet the staff before her appointment. I cannot explain how wonderful that experience was. The staff is kind and warm and made my daughter feel excited about her upcoming appointment. They made her feel important and welcome. Because they eased her fear, her appointment day went so smooth, no tears and no anxiety. I cannot say enough positive things about this office!!

Our first time here today! The over all place and experience was awesome. You definitely can tell the whole staff and drs love their job. They made us feel comfortable and answered any questions or concerns we had and didn't feel rushed. We are happy we found east valley pediatric dentistry. You definitely need to try them out! You won't be disappointed.

My kiddos actually LOVE going to the dentist, since we've switched over to this office. Most recently my daughter needed to get a couple teeth removed to prepare for her upcoming orthodontic treatment. From the moment we arrived, everyone made her feel comfortable and at ease with the procedure!! I was kept up to date from beginning to end, which made this momma feel a lot better too! Every one greets you with a smile, and you can tell they love what they do! 10/10 would recommend!

This pediatric dental office is amazing and nothing less than 5 star! Dr Johnson and his staff were so patient, kind, and gentle with my little 3yr old son. My son actually enjoyed his first cleaning appointment and wanted to go back to play the arcade games and watch movies . We highly recommend this office! They know the real meaning of giving SUPERB CUSTOMER SERVICE!!

My favorite dental office by far! I have a daughter who once had to be orally sedated to get an IV at the hospital. You can imagine my stress when her baby teeth weren't loose and her permanent teeth were coming in. She needed to have her baby teeth removed. I don't know how Dr Johnson did it, but I waited in the waiting room totally stressing, and he got those teeth out no problem! My daughter came out with a big smile on her face. Not a tear was shed! All my (4) kids love to go to the dentist and I know they are getting excellent care.
