Dr. Konys was born and raised in Syracuse. After graduating from Jamesville-DeWitt High School in 1976, he went on to study Biology and Art at Union College and completed his Dental School training at Boston Universitys School of Graduate Dentistry in 1984. His four year surgical residency was served at Boston City Hospital, New England Medical Center, and Boston University Medical Center.
Dr. Konys returned to the Syracuse area to begin private practice in 1988 and has been an active member of the professional community ever since. He was a clinical instructor for the St. Josephs Hospital General Dentistry Residency Program, and holds hospital privileges at Community General Hospital and St. Josephs Hospital. In addition, he is an active member of the American Dental Association, American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, New York Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, Fifth District Dental and Onondaga County Dental Societies, and the International Association of Oral and maxillofacial Surgeons.
Along with his wife Caren, Dr. Konys has enjoyed raising their five children in Central New York. In his free time, he enjoys golf, hanging out with friends and family, and anything associated with the Syracuse Orangemen. If you cut him open, Dr. Konys will bleed orange.
Dr. Katsarsky received his B.A. from Washington State University, his D.M.D. from Boston University School of Graduate Dentistry, and his Certificate in Endodontics from the State University of New York at Buffalo. He has been in full-time endodontic specialty practice since 1989. He practiced near Boston Massachusetts for seven years before moving to Syracuse. His research on digital subtraction of radiographs to evaluate boney lesions was published in the journal of Oral Surgery, Oral Medicine & Oral Pathology. He has been a clinical instructor of Endodontics at Boston University School of Graduate Dentistry, and at St. Josephs Hospital in the General Practice Residency program. He is a member of The American Dental Association, The New York State Dental Association, The Fifth District Dental Society, The Onondaga County Dental Society, The American Association of Endodontists, and the New York State Association of Endodontists. He is married and has two sons. He enjoys golf, scuba diving, movies, and time with his family.

Raving about my experience with East Side Dental! I was already impressed with how smooth making my appointment was, ladies at the front desk were awesome and transparent. Went in today for consultation and ended up getting root canal done! Entire staff was amazing and made me feel like a valued patient. Office was immaculate, I appreciated that they required masks and were sanitizing everything! I wish I remembered my nurse/assistants name because she was amazing! Dr Katsarsky was fantastic, thorough in explaining process.

This place was awesome. From the moment I walked in for my consultation, to the moment I walked out of my root canal procedure, I felt extremely well taken care of. The procedure itself was amazing- didn't feel a thing and felt super comfortable. Dr Katsarsky takes his time and is super gentle. It doesn't get any better than this place. Highly recommend!

Sometimes there are no words. Dr. Katsarsky of East Side Dental Specialist recently performed a root canal on one of my front teeth (result of an injury) and I could not have been happier with the entire process, starting with the consultation right through to the end of the procedure. He and his entire team were nothing short of exceptional. Given the location of the tooth and the fact that I've never had a root canal, I had many concerns. Dr. Katsarsky and MacKenzie answered everyone of my questions with patience and took great care to alleviate my fears. They day of the actual root canal they took impeccable care of me and made certain I was comfortable and secure throughout the process. While a root canal is a routine procedure for them, it was a first time for me and it could not have been a better experience. Truly an amazing team that takes exceptional care of patients with quality end results!

Coming from a person that has anxiety about going to the dentist I cannot express how amazing East Side Dental is! From the moment you walk in the door Dr. Konys and his staff make you feel completely at ease. My procedure took multiple visits and the above and beyond care was consistent at each and every appointment. They take time to explain everything and give you time to ask questions both pre and post operatively. I am not exaggerating when I tell you that they had me smiling and laughing every time I am came in. Dr. Konys called to check up on me after my procedure and even remembered I was going away on vacation and gave me some great advice on places to check out. The office staff was also very helpful when scheduling appointments or calling about concerns. I have not had better care anywhere. I can't thank them enough for my great dental experience.

As someone who has serious anxiety and has put off a procedure for years, Dr. Konys and his team were extremely reassuring through the process. I felt safe and comfortable going into my surgery. This practice has great options for people with dental anxieties, I felt no pain and left with no memory of the procedure and look forward to my next surgery here!

I was referred here by Dr. McGrath. I was comfortable from the initial consultation to the end of my procedure. He and his team kept me informed every step of the way, and my comfort was always in mind, including my choice of TV channel to offering sunglasses because of the bright light. There was absolutely NO PAIN during my root canal, he even numbed the surface before the novocaine. The only negative part was keeping my mouth open for an hour and being bored. Thanks for a pleasant experience!

Today I had a root canal done and let me tell you if u need a root canal done this is the place to go. The team at East side dental was awesome. The worse part about the whole process was having your mouth open for so long. Its been about 10 hours later and I have no pain and I feel great. Absolutely 100% recommend

You can not do better than Eastside Dental!! My son just had his root canal this morning. He was very anxious and concerned with the whole process. Upon arrival the staff are very warm and welcoming and reassured us both that he was in great hands. That couldn't have been more true!! They had great conversation with him while he was being numbed for the procedure. Did an amazing job completing the root canal in around an hour or so and sent us home with follow up care. It's been 8 hours since the procedure and he's pain free with no meds! Also a very clean and well kept office! I can't say enough good things about the staff. I never write reviews, but this place is so worthy!

The office is an inviting and clean environment - from the waiting room to the dental room. Dr. Katsarsky and his team are wonderful and made me feel very comfortable from start to finish. His assistant Kiersten and receptionist Sally are professional and easy to talk to, contributing to a pleasant experience. As someone who has had a bad experience in the past with a root canal at a different office, Dr. Katsarsky made this visit and root canal anxiety free. He was very thorough to determine what the issue was. He took his time with me and walked me through the imaging and explained it in simple terms. During the root canal he explained everything that he was doing step by step and for me it was reassuring. There are only good things to say about Dr. Katsarsky and his team and I highly recommend East Side Dental Specialist.

Excellent! This dental clinic had great staff, they were all very kind, calmed my nerves, and explained what was going on. The dentist kept checking in to make sure I was okay. He did a great job on my tooth. This place exceeded my expectations! I wish I can give them more then 5 stars

This morning I had a major molar removed by Dr. Konya. My experience was excellent beyond belief from beginning to end! Dr. Konys is professional but made me relaxed throughout the entire procedure. He explained all of my options thoroughly. I really had very little discomfort.His staff , including Stephanie who did scheduling, is highly caring and did everything to help me feel good. They were wonderful!!! Very highly recommend Eastside Dentistry. They made a fearful experience positive with their kindness and skill.
