As an orthodontist, I apply physical and biological principles to solve problems in a bad bite while creating a beautiful smile for my patients. Dr. Fan majored in chemical engineering with a minor in biology at the University of Rochester, where she graduated Phi Beta Kappa in 1996. She completed her Doctorate of Dental Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania in 2000. Dr. Fan earned her Ph.D. in bioengineering at MIT in 2006 as part of a joint clinical research program with her post-graduate orthodontic residency at Harvard School of Dental Medicine.

With her background in engineering, particularly her graduate thesis at MIT in cellular regeneration around synthetic bone grafts, Dr. Fan has a deep understanding of how basic science research can be translated into technological advances in dental medicine.

Even now, though her formal education is complete, Dr. Fan continues to update her knowledge and training, routinely attending continuing education courses and discussions with the Harvard Society for the Advancement of Orthodontics. It is Dr. Fans belief that learning is a lifetime process, and she is dedicated to the pursuit of perfection and excellence to better serve her patients.

After growing up in Pittsburgh and attending school in upstate New York, Dr. Fan settled in the Richmond, VA area with her husband Kevin and their two daughters. Skiing is one of Dr. Fans passions: she enjoyed many memorable ski trips during her years in New England. Now she enjoys spending her free time with family and traveling when her schedule allows.

Committed to the betterment of her community, Dr. Fan has volunteered at the Lloyd F. Moss Free Clinic in Fredericksburg, which provides primary health care to those who are unable to pay for private medical care. Her office has also sponsored local school/community sports teams and extracurricular activities in Sandston and New Kent, and donates goods to Richmond charities to help those in need.

I grew up in Chesterfield, Virginia and attended the University of Richmond. My goal is to provide our patients with detailed information regarding their treatment and commitment. I truly enjoy this exciting position because it allows me to get to know each patient and follow them throughout their treatment plan.

I spend my personal time with my husband Greg and three wonderful children, Will, Kati, and Ethan. My weekends usually include watching Ethan play baseball and participating with my husband on a coed indoor soccer league. We are loyal Washington Nationals fans and enjoy attending games as often as possible.

I graduated from Highland Springs High School, and attended Fortis College for dental assisting. It was there that I realized my passion for orthodontics. I did my last six weeks of internship here at East End Orthodontics in November 2009 and became a full-time employee in 2010. I enjoy seeing our patients every day and love the before and after smiles.

Outside of the office, I stay busy with my fiancCharles, my stepdaughter Mariah, son C.W, and daughter Abigail. If were not watching my son play football, were spending quality time as a family simply doing the things that make us happy.

I graduated from Lloyd C. Bird High School, and attended Fortis College where I became a Certified Dental Assistant. Growing up I loved going to the dentist and would always ask the assistants questions, and when I was a teenager I fell in love with orthodontics as I was going through my own treatment. I enjoywatching patients go through their own experience and seeing them walk out with a new smile!

When I am not in the office I have my hands full with my daughter, Phoebe. She is the best and craziest little girl a mom could have. We can be found at the playground, doing crafts, participating in pageants, or spending time with our family.

I was originally born in New Jersey but I grew splitting time between there and Richmond. I graduated from Manchester High School in Chesterfield. I love watching the patients grow and see how their treatments progress.

When not in the office, I enjoy traveling, playing videos games, spending time with my three cats, and watching baseball. As an avid Yankees fan I spend a lot of my free time watching and going to Yankees games with my girlfriend.

Orthodontic appliances are made of metal, ceramic, or plastic. They may be removable or they may be brackets bonded to the teeth. By placing a constant, gentle force in a carefully controlled direction, braces slowly move teeth to the proper position.

Gone are the days when a metal band with a bracket was placed around each tooth. You can now choose clear or metal brackets and, in some cases, the color of your appliance. Wires are far less noticeable, and the latest materials are designed to move teeth faster with more comfort. Today, any age is a great age to wear braces!

A big factor in a successful treatment is you! The more involved and diligent you are, the more efficient your treatment will be. For children, receiving interceptive or early treatment can also help provide a quicker treatment time.
