Dr. Jason Annan grew up in Mount Pleasant and attended Wando High School. He received his degree in Civil Engineering from Duke University and a Masters degree in Environmental Engineering from Clemson University.
After working for four years in engineering, Dr. Annan went to the University of North Carolina for dental school. After dental school he completed an optional year of advanced, hospital dental training at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, N.C. He practiced for four years in Charlotte, N.C., before returning home to Mount Pleasant.
Dr. Annan, his parents, and his extended family have strong roots in Mount Pleasant. Dr. Annan is an avid runner and enjoys dental mission trips. Dr. Annan is a prestigious fellow in the Academy of General Dentistry and International Congress of Oral implantologists, something only 1% of all dentists achieve.
Originally from upstate New York, Karen now resides in Moncks Corner, S.C., and has been working as a skilled dental hygienist for over eight years. In her off time she likes to experience the great outdoors by both camping and fishing, and rarely hesitates to show off her shopping skills.
Peggy has been providing devoted, high-quality dental care for the last 28 years. Originally from Lake Placid, N.Y., Peggy works for East Cooper Smiles as a talented and friendly dental assistant. Now living in Mount Pleasant, her hobbies include riding her bike, walking, and creating delicious dishes in her kitchen.
Leslie has been a valuable member of the dental profession for the last 14 years, and her talents as a dental assistant for our office have not gone unnoticed! Formerly of Ruidoso, N.M., Leslie is now a full-time resident of Mt. Pleasant, and has been known to enjoy strumming on her guitar and riding the waves on her surfboard.
Jennifer grew up in Mount Pleasant and graduated from Bishop England High School. She is a graduate of Presbyterian College, and worked for years as a flight attendant with American Airlines. Jennifer has a daughter and loves living near the water and playing volleyball.
Nikki is from Mount Pleasant and a Wando High School graduate. She spent time raising horses in North Carolina before returning home to pursue a career in the dental field. She keeps her remaining horse locally and loves to ride.
Elizabeth is from Walterboro, S.C., but now lives in Mt. Pleasant. She has been working as a talented and devoted hygienist since 2007. She enjoys spending time on her boat as well as traveling to new and interesting places.
We have installed medical grade HEPA air filters across our office. Staff have been equipped with protective masks and gowns to ensure their safety and the safety of our patients. We are modifying our schedule to reduce the number of patients in the office an any one time. We look forward to seeing all our patients back!

My neighbor recommended East Cooper smiles, Dr Annan. I haven't had a cavity in over 20 years. To say that I was apprehensive about a hard-to-reach cavity... He was so professional, skilled and time efficient! His office staff is absolutely amazing and so friendly. I would highly recommend East Cooper Smiles! Dr Annan and his complete staff are so welcoming and professional. I love the way they treat their clients (from what I've seen) AND take care of the problem in a timely fashion. I've never waited more than 5 mins. As long as we're in CHS our family won't be going anywhere else!

Had a great experience with East Cooper Smiles today. Everyone was so kind and welcoming. It was so hard to move away from home and leave my dentist, but I am so grateful that I found East Cooper Smile. Also was nervous about getting the best use of my insurance and they were able to take care of it all for me. So wonderful!

My elderly mother was treated by Dr. Annan and his staff for some overdue dental work. The whole group were extremely kind, very efficient, and explained everything along the way. I had a tooth extraction yesterday and was a little nervous once I was in the chair.. Tia (Dr. Annan's assistant) was able to help me calm my nerves and Dr. Annan was amazing with making sure I was not in pain prior to extracting my tooth! They went above and beyond to ensure I was OK during the entire process...which only took 20 minutes - IF THAT! - HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND Dr. Annan and his staff!! If you're afraid to go to the dentist, VISIT DR. ANNAN & HIS AMAZING STAFF!!

Tremendous experience. Moved down here 2 years ago and was stuck going to Aspen Dental up the road.. yikes. Aspen was claiming all kinds of work needed to be done which would equate to a significant cost. Was referred to East Cooper Smiles by my significant other. Went in to get one tooth worked on and ended up having everything taken care of! Note: Dr Annan was able to save the tooth!!! This is a friendly, honest, welcoming, knowledgeable practice. Best experience I've had in a while!

I have been a patient here for a few years and just LOVE this practice. All of the employees here are super nice and friendly. My dental hygienist is always personable and caring. Dr. Annan is trustworthy and NEVER EVER recommends anything that I don't absolutely need - and he does excellent work when I do need it. I cannot recommend highly enough.

I was in the worst pain in my life, abscessed tooth that I had for a week. When it got so bad I tried calling around for emergency tooth problem, no one came close to trying to see me. When I got there I was rushed back , my situation was asest and they removed my troublesome tooth that visit. Honest to God relief. I recommend this dentistry over anyone in mount pleasant. Over anyone in the surrounding counties. Ladies up front so nice and experienced on insurance and Medicare issues. Dentist assistants are the very best I ever had at any dentist office. Very knowledgeable on instructions for when you leave or ask questions there. Wonderful place. 5 stars
