Dr. Lori Cockley is pleased to provide healthy, beautiful smiles to her neighbors in East Berlin and the surrounding area. She places great emphasis on being a gentle dentist who treats her patients, not just their teeth.
Dr. Cockley earned her dental degree from the University of Maryland School of Dentistry in Baltimore. A unique combination of knowledge and experience allows her to provide dental care in a compassionate, professional manner as part of your overall health care plan for you and your family.
Committed to lifelong learning in the dental field, Dr. Cockley participates in numerous hours of continuing education programs each year. She has recently developed her expertise in treating adults, children, and infants with TOTs (tethered oral tissues). This includes patients with tongue-tie, called ankyloglossia, and lip-tie, also known as tight maxillary frenum. Her training allows her to perform laser tongue-tie revisions that take a few seconds to complete, with little to no pain. She also works closely with lactation consultants to help breastfeeding moms whose babies are having latching difficulties. Dr. Cockley is a member of the International Affiliation of Tongue-Tie Professionals and has trained with some of the top names in tongue-tie diagnosis, assessment, and revisions.
Additionally, advanced training in restorative, cosmetic, and laser dentistry allows Dr. Cockley to work with you on a wide variety of dental concerns, forming a partnership to achieve your optimum oral health. She has achieved Mastership status in the Academy of General Dentistry, a distinction held by only 2% of general dentists nationwide. With a background as a graphic artist, Dr. Cockley brings an eye for design to her cosmetic dentistry, so you can rest assured your smile will look its absolute best! She loves children and has a child-friendly practice, so bring your whole family, including the little ones!
Dr. Cockley believes in giving back by doing charity work, at home and overseas. She has volunteered with the Mission of Mercy and Dentistry from the Heart, which serve people who cannot afford dental care here in our own community. She and her entire team have traveled to Vietnam with Operation Smile, offering dental services to impoverished children, and traveled to Belize in 2014 and 2015 with International Health Outreach. She also participates in numerous community outreach programs each year to benefit local charities.
Professionally, Dr. Cockley is serving on the board of directors for the Pennsylvania Academy of General Dentistry and is on the peer review committee for Pennwell Publishing.Her articles have been published in theJournal of the American Orthodontic SocietyandDental Economics, and she has had literature reviews published in theLibrary of the Dental Academy of Continuing Education. In 2018, she founded the Pennsylvania Tongue-Tie Center.

Outstanding care for our 4 month old baby! Everyone was so nice and friendly! Such a beautiful and peaceful facility. They did such a great job at explaining and showing us our sons tongue and lip tie. The procedure just took a few minutes and they did such a great job at explaining the exercises we should do for the following weeks until both heal!

My wife had been experiencing extreme discomfort during feedings, and painful blistering afterward. Our little guy had also been falling asleep quickly during meals. Specialists across Franklin and Adams County recommended East Berlin Smiles and the experience has not disappointed. The staff was professional and thorough in its assessment and response. Dr. Cockley and her staff were very gentle with the baby and eased our concerns. Our baby's procedure to fix a lip and tongue tie was quick and he's been feeding more comfortably and for longer durations as a result. He also really loves his little teddy bear he received as a patient! My wife's comfort improves by the day. Thank you so much, Dr. Cockley and staff at East Berlin Smiles!

Adorable building, fun decorations for fall, friendly feeling rooms, family friendly vibes, cute little prize for my kiddo at the end of the appointment! My 6-week old son had a lip tie and tongue tie revision about a week ago at this office. The entire team was absolutely phenomenal! The assessment was comprehensive and they took their time. Dr. Cockley was very patient and answered all questions/concerns I had. The procedure was very quick and the stretching exercises were explained very well. Since the procedure, my son has been latching better at the breast (and no more pain for me). We are very happy with our experience here!

I recently had my lip and tongue ties released as an adult with Dr. Cockley and the process couldn't have gone more smoothly! Dr. Cockley and her entire team were so welcoming, patient, and explained everything perfectly. I also worked with Lindsey from Eat, Sleep, Breathe for myofunctional therapy prior to the releases and I was 100% prepared. The releases were painless and took less than 15 minutes. I had some soreness the next day..nothing some ibuprofen and ice cream couldn't fix :). I'll be sure to take my children here in the future!

This was the third provider we saw for our infant's ties, and I'm so thankful to say we finally got it right this time. Providers are definitely not all created equal, and I wish we had come here first. The first provider missed my infant's lip tie. The second provider half treated his lip tie and failed to instruct us on the necessary stretches afterwards so his lip tie reattached when it healed and became worse. Here, there was a huge difference in competency. Very skilled, very specialized, so much better here than to see a general plastic surgeon. My infant can eat and nurse now without issue. Such a relief. I highly recommend starting with this provider if you're concerned with a mouth tie issue.

The office is beautiful and was immediately comforting. The staff was super welcoming and friendly throughout the entire experience. They fixed my daughter's tongue and lip tie. They explained the entire procedure and gave us extra resources. We could not have asked for a better experience.
