He starts each day with one goal in mind: to improve every patients dental health in a meaningful way and in an environment that is friendly and enjoyable. He particularly loves the practice of general dentistry because of the wide variety of services he is able to provide for his patients.

After graduating from Vanderbilt University in 1971 with a bachelors degree in biology, Dr. Mims went on to earn his doctor of medical dentistry degree from the Medical College of Georgia School of Dentistry (now Georgia Health Sciences University) in 1975.

He entered private practice as an associate in Young Harris, Georgia in 1975. After recognizing a growing need for dentistry services just across the state line, the Murphy dentist moved his practice there in 1988.

Dr. Mims is married to Gretchen, and together they have five children: Robiyn, Matthew, Bryan, Shawn, and Randall. The couple lives in nearby Brasstown and they attend Little Brasstown Baptist Church.

Over the years, Dr. Mims interests have included leadership positions with a local Boy Scout Troop, camping, horseback riding, boating, swimming, snow skiing and flying. He flies an airplane that he built himself.

Rebecca joined our team in June 1993. She discusses treatment plans with patients and assists them in making financial arrangements for the services they need. She enjoys meeting people and seeing them smile with confidence once their treatment is complete.

Kim become a member of the Mims Dental Team in August 2014. She transitioned into the dental field after working eleven years in healthcare. Kim received her Dental X-ray Technician certification through Eastern Carolina University Dental School in Sylvia, North Carolina. Kim enjoys providing patients with a comfortable, yet enjoyable experience at the dentist because she knows the importance of keeping a happy, healthy smile. Kim assists Dr. Mims with all procedures from orthodontics to surgical implants. In her spare time, she and her husband, Cody, along with their daughter, Eden, take care of goats, pigs, and chickens on their hobby farm. Kim enjoys spending time with her daughter, gardening, canning/preserving food and relaxing with family and friends.

Debbie comes to work every day appreciative of the opportunity to help our patients practice and maintain good oral health. A member of our staff since 2006, she says she enjoys the one-on-one relationships we have with the patients we serve.

When shes not making smiles brighter, Debbie loves spending time with her daughter and four dogs, taking trips to the beach and visiting lighthouses. Shes also a fan of hiking, exploring, boating, gardening, practicing natural remedies, cooking and homemaking.

She went on to complete the Radiology Instructors course at the University of North Carolina School of Dentistry in 2001, and she teaches the annual dental radiology certification course for office-trained dental assistants through the Mountain Area Health Education Center in Asheville.

This review is about 25 years late, which I truly regret, but I'm not pc or cell phone savvy. Although I lived in GA, I first went to Dr.Mims office on a recommendation because Dr.Tina Woods was working there, & not only was I dental phobic, I was extremely phobic with males due to past abuse issues. Dr.Tina was great, then she left to do missionary work. I had seen Dr. Mims in the hallways, mostly smiling & no one seemed scared of him. My wonderful hygienist, Robin, assured me I'd be in good hands. I was in great hands all around, Debbie, Rebecca & Tabitha all dealt with my craziness & fear with compassion, but Dr.Mims changed my whole attitude about being fearful with male Dr.s, above & beyond what any dentist should have to do. Dr.Mims truly gave me my smile back! I'd be relaxed & smiling in the waiting room, not the usual way one feels at the dentist. They say "no pain, no gain" but I never, ever had any pain ( ok, root canals had some after effects, but they were managed beautifully ), & the work was extensive. I actually looked forward to going to the office for my cleanings with Robin & always left smiling. I've moved & love being back in the tropics, but I sure do miss going to see the wonderful crew there. Spoiled rotten by their care, my only regret is that I'll never enjoy going to the dentist as much as I did when I was in driving distance. There's a huge difference between just competence & competence with compassion. I've have found a dentist again, I only wish I could find the $ to fly north for my cleanings with Robin & be able to say thank you to everyone in person. If there was a way to give 6 stars, I would. I highly recommend Dr.Mims & I can say you won't be disappointed when you go, & grateful you went when you leave.

This dentist has been taking care of my teeth for years and they look fantastic! Every small detail is a big concern and that is what makes him stand above the rest.

Had a great first experience until I called to ask instead of having my bottom teeth worked on ( just to cause more issues ) I asked if they could schedule for my bottom teeth to be removed when I go to have my top teeth removed and was told Dr Mims wasn't going to do that and I would need to go find some free dental clinic or someone else and they would never see me again . Leaving me with 6 abscesses , 6 badly broken teeth that are rapidly decaying and other issues . NEEDLESS TO SAY , I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND DR MIMS TO ANYONE , THEY'RE STAFF IS RUDE, THEY NEVER CALL YOU WHEN THEY'RE SUPPOSE TO AND AREN'T WORRIED ABOUT YOUR DENTAL ISSUES . FULL WASTE OF USING MY INSURANCE THAT I HAVE TO PAY FOR !

Dr. Mims has been my dentist for many years. I have seen many dentists and never have I had a more thorough or gentle experience in any other office. The professionalism from every team member in this office exceeds all others. I highly recommend this office.
