Dr. Vance J. Dykhouse completed his Doctorate of Dental Surgery atUMKC in 1966 after doing his undergraduate work at the University of Oklahoma. Followingtwo years in the Navy, Dr. Vance began his orthodontic residency at UMKC and completed his masters degree in orthodontics in 1970. He has been practicing orthodontics in Eastern Jackson County since 1970 and became board certified in 1978.
In 1999, Dr. Vance was selected by his peers to an eight-year term as the Midwest Director to the American Board of Orthodontics. Dr. Vance was president of the American Board of Orthodontics from May 2006 to May 2007. He was also the recipient of the ABOs Dale B. Wade Award of Excellence in Orthodontics in 2014.
In addition to maintaining his orthodontic practice, Dr. Vance has taught asa part-time faculty member in the orthodontic department at the UMKC School of Dentistry for30 years. Heserved on the Missouri Orthodontics Specialty Board from 1979 to 1989. Dr. Vancealso is a member of numerous local and national dental and orthodontic societies, including the Charles H. Tweed Foundation and the Edward H. Angle Society.
Dr. David Dykhouse completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Missouri-Columbia fora degree in chemical engineering, with magna cum laude honors. In 1997, Dr. David obtained his Doctorate of Dental Surgery at the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC). He received the Deans Academic Distinction Award for being the number-one ranked UMKC dental student in his graduating class.
Dr. David became board certified by the American Board of Orthodontics in 2007. He completed a thorough written and oral examination and demonstrated his clinical expertise by describing orthodontic cases completed in his office to the American Board examiners. To stay current with dentistry and orthodontics, Dr. David is a member of many societies, including the American Dental Association, American Association of Orthodontics, Tweed Study Club of the Midwest, Charles H. Tweed Foundation, andEastern Jackson County Dental Health Group.
As a way of giving back to the community, Dr. David is an orthodontic provider for Smiles Change Lives and Dental for Kids programs. Dr. David and his wife have three children. He enjoys playing basketball and golf, and spending time with family and friends while away from the office.
Ive been in the dental field since 1970, save for the years I stayedhome to raise my children. I take responsibility for all financials and correspondence going in or out of the office. Its a true privilege getting to build relationships with all the families that come to us for orthodontic treatment. Each team member excels at what they do here, and the working relationship of our team is top-notch.
Jerry and I have been married for 42 years! We have two grown children; our daughter and her husband live in Denver and our sonlives in Snowmass Village, Colorado. We love to visit them as much as we can. My hobbies are laughing, sewing, swimming, reading, and well laughing! Im also involved in activities at church and volunteer at several area civic organizations.
Ive been married to my husband Bruce for 39 years. My daughter andson-in-law live in Utah with my one-year-old granddaughter. Wevisit each other as oftenas possible! When Im not spending time with my family, I enjoygardening and watching University of Missouri sporting events as well as spending time with family who live in Missouri.
I really love getting to work with patients, their families, and all the awesome staff here at our office! I assist the doctor during patient treatment. Ive been in the field since 1977 and try to keep up to date by attending continuing education courses. I love the fact that all our work here is making a difference in someone elses life.
Ive been married for 26 years and have three adult children and nine grandchildren. I have a black Lab and two cats as well. At home I like to garden, cook (especially for those who love to eat), and spend time with my family.
Taking patient photos andX-rays, ordering supplies, and assisting the doctor as needed are just a few of my responsibilities. While I was a patient at Dykhouse Orthodontics, I became an employee, andI have spent over 17 years working with the doctors Dykhouse!I really enjoy working with our patients and seeing the difference in their smile from the photos taken at the beginning versus those taken at the end. The staff is great here and is like my second family; theyve treated my children and myself and I couldnt have asked for a more qualified group to do it.
Ive been married to my husband Brett for 28 years. We have a daughter and twin sons. We have had a bunch of animals in the past: a lizard, chinchilla, bird, fish, hamsters, guinea pig, and frogs! Now we have two cats and three dogs. I play volleyball, have been to Jamaica three times on mission trips, and will be going to Cambodia soon too.
I have a 15-year-old son, five nieces, and two nephews, and we all enjoy spending time together, especially in the summer at the lake house! I like going to sporting events and school activities with my son. I also get a kick out of attending soccer and dance events with my nieces.

We have had a great experience working with Dr. Dykehouse and his staff. Everyone at their office is sooooo nice and great to work with. Three of our daughters have gotten braces at Dykehouse Orthodontics. They receive plenty of compliments on their beautiful smiles. Dr. Dykehouse has really done a wonderful job with the girls teeth. I would definitely recommend him to anyone needing braces. Can't say enough how much we enjoyed working with all of the people from their office as well. They worked with you on they payment plan and before you know it the treatment is complete. They give great support during the retainer period as well and will make adjustments as needed. Thank you for the great experience!

My son got braces there last fall. He just turned 17 and it is both his and my first experience with orthodontics. I was a nervous wreck about it, but Dr. Dykhouse and the entire staff is so friendly and professional they've put our minds at ease. They've made this process so easy on both of us. He is now 17 and can drive himself, so he can take himself to most of his appointments, and the staff is very used to this and actually welcome it. They are really great with kids and teenagers, but also us parents! I don't have to constantly take off work to be with him at every single appointment unless it's something major, and they keep the lines of communication with me open so i still know exactly what's going on. I couldn't recommend this practice enough.

I almost never wait past the appointment time (they usually see us early), the office staff is amazing and maintain a laid back and professional atmosphere, and they work well with my children and explain how to take care of their mouth. I have put 4 kids through Dykhouse and have never had a problem.

Dr. Dykehouse orthodontics and staff, I cannot thank you enough for treating me and my 3 kids like family we have been a part of your practice since 2005 and on my 3rd child to receive braces they have given my girls the most beautiful smiles that will last a lifetime .. Not to mention the ladies in the office I tell them everyday when my kids get done im going to miss them im still going to have to go have coffee once in awhile!! If you are in need of an orthodontist you have chosen the right one and you will know that the minute you walk into his office, Thank You Dykehouse and Staff you guys are pretty amazing!!

Being treated as an adult in braces can always be a bit overwhelming, me being a surgery case was even more intimidating.I know firsthand how competent, caring, and thorough Dr. David Dykhouse and his staff are because they led me through that journey with excellent results.Plus we had great fun and laughter in the process! The staff at Dykhouse Orthodontics have always treated myself and my three kids like family since 2003. All three of mine have needed braces and I would trust no one else. I have had some difficult financial things happen and they didn't hesitate to help me and make sure the treatment went on as planned. That makes a single mom very grateful and I am so grateful for each and every one of them. Every time we walk in the front door there is a friendly smile and call us by name- which to me is very important. It makes me and my kids comfortable and at ease. The work they have done on my kids teeth is incredible. The beautiful smiles I see everyday is due to Dykhouse Orthodontics and to see my kids confident in that smile is priceless.
