I grew up in Ithaca and I am proudly raising my family here in upstate New York. I graduated from Ithaca High School, andam a proud member of the Ithaca High School Hall of Fame. I was honored to attend the United States Naval Academy, where I was an All-American lacrosse player. After my four years of undergraduate study, I served in the Navy as a surface warfare officer, with a specialtyin missile defense systems.
When my service ended, I decided to pursue a dental career at the University of Buffalo, followed by a three-year orthodontic residency at Eastman Dental Center in Rochester. I enjoyed my time at Eastman and, in addition to having a full-time private practice, I have servedon the faculty as a part-time associate professor/ lecturer in both clinical and research arenas for more than15 years. I have had thegood fortune to be published in a number of professional journals.

When I am not perfecting smiles, I can be found coaching lacrosse and hockey, or taking on more than I should with home remodeling projects. The best part of my week is spending time with my wife Bridget, my children Lauren, Jack, and Caroline, and my English Bulldog Lola.

I began my dental career in 1988 and joined Dr. Duthies team in 2013. Its so much fun to get to know each person we care for, and becomefriends with patientswhile we develop their healthy new smile. I love hearing their stories, and all about their adventures and successes in school or in sports. The best part is seeing the beautiful results when the braces are removed!
I am a new member of Dr. Duthies office and I am very excited to be part of this team! I began my career as an assistant in 2003 and have a passion for helping people be confident. I love working with people and making them smile! My goal every day is to meet new people and help them have a really wonderful experience at our office. We have a lot of fun in our office, and I love being a part of it!
I have been married for 20 years, and have two beautiful daughters and two cats. We are very busy with sports and plays during the school year and biking and going on walks in the summer. I enjoy movies, reading, and spending quality time with my family.
I started in orthodontics more than 55 years ago, but it seems like just yesterday! Since 2013, Ive worked with patients at Dr. Duthies office to get them started with treatment. My goal is to make them happy with their smile. We are all here to make the practice run smoothly and provide excellent treatment and a pleasant experience at Duthie Orthodontics.
I began working with Dr. Duthie in 2013 when he opened his own practice. In addition to managerial duties, I am also a certified orthodontic assistant with 30 years of experience. I wouldnt want to be anywhere else but this office! Whether Im helping a patient start an orthodontic journey or assisting in the removal of braces, everything I do is to make smiles happen!
I have been married for more than 35years to my husband John. We have two daughters, Jessica and Jill. Jessica is married to our son-in-law, John McNabb, and they have the most adorable little boy named Carter. Jill is engaged to be married to Tim Langdon in October 2019. I LOVE golfing when I can, and working outside in the yard.
I have been in the dental field since 1995 and joined Duthie Orthodontics in 2013. I have many years of experience in general, restorative, surgical, endodontics, and orthodontics. I enjoy creating lasting friendships and trust with patients while helping Dr. Duthie change their smiles, and making them feel better and more confident about themselves. Dr. Duthie is the most understanding, caring, and generous doctor and does amazing work.
My family consists of my son Allston, Shaun and his daughter Haleigh, and our three dogs. In the winter months, I play on multiple dart leagues and compete in several tournaments. In the spring and fall, I play softball and take part in tournaments and fundraising. When Im not playing sports, I enjoy crafting, building, and repurposing things.
I am nearing the completion of my second decade of working in the orthodontic field, and have spent the past five years with Dr. Duthie. I like seeing the transition that patients go through from when they first enter treatment until the day their braces come off. I enjoy seeing how happy they are with their smile results and knowing I am a part of that wonderful change!

I earned my associates degree in dental assisting in 2010 and have experience in the fields of periodontics, endodontics, general dentistry, and oral surgery. Orthodontics is by far my favorite! Every day, I get to watch patients smile transformations and build lasting friendships with them. I also get to spend a lot of time with our awesome team my second family!
My husband Tom and I have been married since 2015. We have one child together, Maisy, who just turned a year old. We also have two Brittany Spaniels, Waylan and Hank, who love to go bird hunting. I love to garden and can my harvest. My hobbies consist of knitting, crocheting, and reading when I am not playing with my daughter.
I scan and make retainers and orthodontic appliances. I also fabricate and trim orthodontic models. Its a pleasure to meet, care for, and become friends with our patients. Every single one of them always has something interesting to share, and I love learning about their lives outside our office.
When Im not at work, I love spending time with my three children, two grandchildren, dog, and three cats. I am also a volunteer on the Youth Soccer Board. I enjoy traveling with my family and shopping. Sometimes I am known as Mother Christmas, since Christmas is my all-time favorite holiday!
I have more than 30 years of experience in the financial field and have been a part of the Duthie Orthodontics team since we opened in 2013. I manage our accounts receivable and payable, as well as collections. I am here to help our patients understand that the financial process doesnt have to be confusing or seem impossible, and that our office is willing to work with them. Our office is patient focused, and we want all patients to achieve a smile they can be proud of.
I have been married to my husband Adam, since 1988. We have a daughter, Chelse and a grandson, Mason. When Im not in the office, I enjoy traveling to new places with my family and spending time with my dogs.

Horrible experience. Took time off of work to get my braces put on just for him to decide that he wouldn't do the work because I had a cavity that we had already agreed that I would get the work done after getting the braces on. Would not recommend

Generally a good experience, but most recently I had Invisalign holders put on my teeth only to be immediately removed in a very unenjoyable process because the aide didn't know that I was going away, my appointment was almost canceled after arriving only four minutes late, and I was treated quite brusquely with my conversation interrupted.

Several reasons why I would say this is BEST orthodontist in town. 100% satisfaction with Duthie Orthodontist. Highly recommended for students (especially my fellow Cornellians) from the area to choose this orthodontist! The team and Dr. Duthie are beyond AMAZING!Instead of choosing a closer orthodontist near Cornell University, I am totally willing to drive longer from Cornell to Duthie Orthodontist because of my amazing experience with the team. First, I feel like I'm being treated with respect, kindness, and more than just a patient. The doctor and the staff are truly empathetic listeners, and they think about my well-being & truly listen to my need. They tried to get to know me -- what I study at Cornell, where I am from, and how long I have had metal braces before, etc. Second, I can feel their honesty and professionalism, and again they are really good listeners and made me feel welcome & respected. Let's be honest, some orthodontists out there just wanna get your money and don't *actually* listen to our needs. Duthie Orthodontist is different because they care about their patients and the individuals who walk into their office (at least this is what I've experienced in Ithaca). Thumbs up for Dr. Duthie and his friendly team!

The best experience with a healthcare professional I've ever had, by far. My old permanent retainer broke so I stopped in to see what could be done and they completely exceeded my expectations. John was friendly, understanding, generous and caring. It made my day.

Dr. Duthie is an orthodontist rock star! Not only can he straighten your teeth with care and professionalism, if your car battery dies, he can jump start your car in the rain!! Thank you to the whole office, from reception to assistants to billing.

Great environment and the very friendly dentist you will ever meet. I had to come here because I had one tooth that started to crook. I lost my retainer and it happened. My first consultation was great. The female person who took my info and explained the price was very friendly. The dentist was very very friendly. He never rushed me. He listened to all my stories. He actually tried to offer me just getting a free retainer. He said my teeth are healthy the way it is. I was like what? Isn't he supposed to try to make me buy the braces? He was very honest. So I decided to get the braces from him. The female specialist who put the braces for me was very friendly as well. One thing that I was not happy about was how the receptionist was very unprofessional. They make you reply to messages, and I swear I never received a message asking if I have cold symptoms. I waited 25 minutes outside and I got a call from the receptionist who sounded really upset and irritated. The wait is normal due to COVID-19. She asked me whether I got a message or not. And I said I did not get it. But she said I was supposed to reply to the message or they cannot see me. So I said I did not get it. But she ignored it and said I have to reply that I have no symptoms. So I just replied instead of claiming that I did not receive the message. I apologize that I did not reply, but I really did not get the message.

I had permanent retainers put in when I got my braces off back in 2003 from another ortho when I lived in Jersey. About 1.5 years ago I went to Dr. Duthie because both were starting to come loose. I had such great customer service from the staff & Dr. Duthie, & he was extremely generous. He did a temporary fix for me. Today I went back to him because my upper retainer broke & he removed it & made me a new retainer. Again, he was extremely generous. I will definitely go back to him when my bottom retainer goes. I will also refer him to everyone I know. I cannot believe anyone would give him or his practice a negative review. I had a wonderful experience & he is a man of great generosity & kindness. He is not out to make a buck & is more than willing to work with his clients, especially those who do not have insurance & cannot afford the costs of services. I highly recommend Dr. Duthie to anyone. I also have a friend who's daughter went to him, & again she says the same about him.
