Originally from Albany, N.Y., Dr. Parth Parekh graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Buffalo with a B.S. in Biomedical Sciences and a minor in Mathematics and graduated top 10 in his class while earning a Doctorate in Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) from the University of Buffalo School of Dental Medicine. Him and his wife decided to put down roots in the Triangle Area in 2017 and have loved being a part of the community ever since!

Dr. Parekh provides unparalleled patient care in areas of cosmetic, restorative, and full-mouth rehabilitation and focuses his efforts on developing meaningful, long-lasting relationships with all of his patients. Dr. Parekh is best known for using his vast training in sedation dentistry to make even the most apprehensive patients feel comfortable and at ease at Durham Dental Group.

Before becoming a co-owner of Durham Dental Group with his best friend and dental classmate Dr. Ali, Dr. Parekh completed a two-year General Practice Residency at the Dental College of Georgia at Augusta University, where he received extensive training in surgical, cosmetic and implant dentistry, intravenous (I.V.) sedation, wisdom teeth extractions, Invisalign, and managing medically compromised and anxious patients.

Dr. Parekh is one of the youngest recipients in the nation of the highly coveted Fellowship in the International Congress of Implantologists after having placed over 200 implants during his time in residency. In addition, he is one of the few dentists that has passed the written test and is pursuing a Fellowship in the American Academy of Implant Dentistry. In his quest to perfect his skills in implant dentistry and intravenous sedation, Dr. Parekh completed 360 hours of continued education in a nine-month implant continuum at the AAID MaxiCourse and performed over 175 I.V. sedations during his two-year residency in Augusta, Georgia.

It was while he was pursuing his passion in implant dentistry that he discovered a love for teaching. Dr. Parekh has assisted in teaching the hands-on components of placing and restoring implants, performing I.V. sedation, and bone grafting procedures to dentists and residents from all around the nation that have now integrated these skills into their own private practices. He continues to volunteer his time as a part-time clinical instructor in the Department of Oral Rehabilitation at the Dental College of Georgia, where he focuses on mentoring dental residents in implant and sedation dentistry.

Dr. Parekh is a firm believer in giving back to underprivileged communities nationally and internationally and has traveled to remote areas of Tennessee and the Dominican Republic to provide free dental services for those in need. In his free time, he loves to travel with his wife, watch UNC basketball, exercise, cook, and spend time with family and friends.

The traditional 9:00-5:00 office hours dont always fit your needs. How are you supposed to get the dental care you need if you cant make it to the office for a procedure? What if your child has a toothache or you chip a tooth over the Saturday? What you need is a dentist open on Saturday, a dentist with evening hours, or a walk-in dentist.

  • You dont have to interrupt your daily obligations. Because of our evening hours, you wont have to take time off work or excuse your child from school to come see us. As a dentist with evening hours, we can see you after youre done with your most important daily obligations.
  • We are available to help. If you have urgent dental needs or a dental emergency, we can provide service when many other dentists cant. Here, you can find a dentist open on Saturday and a walk-in dentist. You dont have to deal with oral pain while you wait for our office to be open. Even if you have an emergency beyond our evening hours, a member of our team will be available to help.
  • We take care of the whole family. You dont have to go to a different dentist than your kids because it doesnt work with your schedules. We can see all of your loved ones and take care of your various needs!
  • A toothache, broken tooth, or other tooth injury is never convenient. We understand that your urgent needs are not always going to fit within typical office hours, so we offer extended hours in order to serve you when you need it the most. Here at Durham Dental Group, we open early and close late, and were even open on Saturdays. Come see us when you need emergency dental care!

In the event of a dental injury, you should call your emergency dentist at Durham Dental Group as soon as possible. Here are some common dental emergencies and information on what to do while you wait to be seen.

  • Knocked-Out (Avulsed) Tooth Though a knocked-out tooth is a serious problem, quick action can make all the difference. Be very careful with your tooth. Be sure to avoid the root. Attempt to place the tooth back in the socket, but dont force it. If it wont slip back in easily, just keep it moist by placing it in milk or between your cheek and gums.
  • Chipped or Cracked Tooth Its possible you may not even feel it when your tooth is chipped or cracked. Once you notice the injury, rinse your mouth out with warm water. If youre bleeding, place gauze on the injury. If you are experiencing pain, try placing a cold compress on the outside of your mouth near the point of injury.
  • Bitten or Cut Tongue, Lip, or Cheek Clean the cut or bite with a cloth. Be very cautious while doing so. You can also rinse your mouth gently with a salt-water concoction, and then place moist gauze on the bleeding. Use ice to relieve pain and swelling.
  • Toothache There are a number of reasons a toothache may occur, so our emergency dentist can help you discover the reason for the pain. If your discomfort is extreme, you should call us as soon as possible. While waiting for help, rinse your mouth with warm water and try removing any food that may be stuck in your teeth. An over-the-counter pain reliever can help provide comfort as you wait for assistance and a cold compress can reduce swelling.
  • Food Stuck Between Teeth Be gentle as you attempt to remove the food, using dental floss rather than a sharp object that could cause injury. If floss is unsuccessful, wait until you can be seen by our team of professionals before attempting another method.
