Dr. Whitman is committed to providing the best care and thats not possible without the best equipment and facility. From low radiation digital x-rays to LCD flat panel screens for patient education, his facility is modern, yet comfortable and inviting for his patients.
Dr. Whitman was born in Utah and having a father in the military he also lived in Germany and Hawaii before returning to Utah. In middle school, Ryan and his family moved to McAlester, OK where he attended high school. He then went on to study Biochemistry at the University of Oklahoma and graduated from the University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry in 2008. For 5 years, he practiced dentistry in Henryetta, OK. He and his wife Brooke decided to move to Durango in January 2014 to raise their two sons, Austin and Logan. They also have two dachshunds, Toby and Jasper.
Dr. Whitman likes spending time outdoors mountain biking, camping, snow skiing, kiteboarding, listening to a variety of music, and spending time with his boys working on projects. He is passionate about continually learning new things and enjoys staying up-to-date on the latest dental technologies and techniques. He is excited for the opportunity to serve your dental needs.
Danielle has been an active Registered Dental Hygienist since 1997. After graduating with honors and earning her Associates Degree in Dental Hygiene from Pensacola State College, she immediately headed West. She fell in love with the state of Colorado while visiting during her college years and in 1997 moved out west. Danielle has been in Durango since the summer of 2012. Her life has been graced by her two extraordinary daughters and one incredible man. Together, they enjoy everything outdoors including climbing, biking, skiing, hiking, and river trips. Danielle has truly enjoyed caring for our awesome Durango community here at Durango Family Dentistry.
Annah moved to Durango with her wonderful husband, Andrew in 2003 from the North West. She graduated from San Juan College, and received her license as a Dental Hygienist in 2006. The 4 corners has offered her and her husband endless opportunities for adventure. Her love of all things with 2 wheels is apparent by her collection of mountain bikes and motorcycles. During the winter she is an active volunteer with Adaptive Sports, where she can apply her love of snowboarding and skiing to help individuals gain independence, as well as putting a smile on their faces. Other interests that occupy her time are playing piano, reading, and tending to her floral design business.
Jessie grew up in Bayfield helping her family run their ranch and rodeoing. She went to college in Oklahoma on a rodeo scholarship where she earned her Bachelors degree. She then attended San Juan College and graduated in 2016 with Honors in Dental Hygiene. She enjoys being active outdoors. General hobbies include: rodeoing, snowboarding, hiking and sightseeing. Jessie loves her career at Durango Family Dentistry and helping people maintain a healthy smile!
Erika, a/k/a Red, was born and raised in Southern California. She attended Chaffey College Dental Trade school and graduated in 1983 with her degree as both a Registered and a Certified Dental Assistant. Erika moved to Durango in 1992. Shes an active single mom of 4 and grandma to 3 beautiful grandchildren. The summer of 2014 will mark season 40 of Reds softball career. When shes able to find some spare time, Red loves nothing more than hanging out with her children and grandchildren.
Rhea was born in Littleton, CO and moved to Durango in 1993. She played sports most of her life with her favorites being basketball, volleyball, and soccer. She attended Mesa State College in Grand Junction then went to the Colorado School of Dental Assisting and received her Dental Assistant Certification in 2010 and has been in the field ever since. Rhea loves the outdoors and tries to attend as many Zumba classes as she can. She also likes spending time with her 3 dogs, Scooter, Dutchess, and Kloe and even though theyre a handful, they bring her so much joy. Rhea is very excited to be a member of the Durango Family Dentistry team!
Meghan is a small town girl; born and raised in Oklahoma. Meghan has been working in the dental field since 2007 as insurance coordinator and office manager. She worked for Dr. Whitman at his Henryetta location for 5 1/2 years and continued working in the Henryetta office after his relocation to Durango. In February 2016, the stars aligned and Meghan was able to join Dr. Whitmans team once again. Meghan and her husband, Kyle, are the proud parents of August Creed and his K9 sister, Piper Anne. Meghan is very active in the music and the college ministry departments of her church. On her day off, you might find Meghan at the zoo, a childrens museum, or maybe just playing outside in the back yard with her favorite little boy. Time spent with her family is time well spent!

All of the staff is very kind and professional. I got right in for my appointment and Dr Ryan and assistant were wonderful. I came in a little anxious but they did a beautiful job......very smooth, caring and efficient. I highly recommend them. I was at another dentist in Durango and left. Grateful I did.

Another great experience today With Dr. Whitman and staff, truly everyone from front to back is on point! I have frequently needed fillings on teeth and they always make these painless and quick, two fillings today in a friendly atmosphere In 35minutes! Patients for 2 years.

I've been a patient here for 5 years. Everyone in this office is pleasant and professional, from the front desk (Janice is wonderful to work with and always so nice), to the hygienists and Dr. Whitman himself. Jessie is my go-to hygienist, she's fantastic, but I've also seen Annah and Danielle and they are wonderful as well. Great office!

This past month I've had multiple appointments to get work done. My experience with everything has been great! Dr. Whitman did great with extractions and cavities, while Anna was awesome with the cleanings. The insurance I have works with Durango Family Dentistry which is nice. After being terrified of dental work prior to Dr. Whitman, I highly recommend Durango Family Dentistry. Very pleased and thankful, while getting comfortable with dental visits.

Great dentist. The covid precautions made me feel very safe & I felt as comfortable as one can be at the dentist. The dr got me in & out fairly quickly & did a great job on my teeth.

I've been going to Dr. Whitman for over five years. I've never had a bad experience. I actually enjoy going, as I've always feared most dentists. He has fixed chips in my front teeth and made them beautiful. They get you in as soon as possible for urgent appointments. Danielle is our favorite hygienist. She is gentle and a wealth of knowledge.

I love this dentist. And his hygienist Danielle is superb. We live in three different places, Seattle Scottsdale and here. I feel I get a more thorough exam and cleaning here than any of my other dentists. Durango's lucky to have them.

I love the friendly and helpful staff. I've had my night guard for 2 days and I am actually enjoying it. It fits perfect and I'm tempted to wear it all day.
