A quality education prepared me to provide excellent care. I have been practicing orthodontics for more than 35 years and received specialty training in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics. In addition, each year my staff and I take continuing education courses in order to provide the best treatment possible.
My academic background includes a Bachelor of Science in microbiology and human anatomy from Pacific Union College. I obtained my Doctorate of Dental Surgery from Loma Linda University and continued with Loma Lindas orthodontic residency program and earned a Master of Science and specialty degree in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics, Ive also had extensive experience in cleft palate treatment and orthognathic surgery.
Each year, I continue to take more than 60 hours of continuing education to remain current on the latest technological developments and surgical treatment. In addition, I help to educate future generations of orthodontists by lecturing at local or national meetings.
It has been my honor to receive the Table Clinic Research Award from the California Dental Association, and the Foundation for Orthodontic Research Award. It has also been my privilege to publish articles in the American Journal of Orthodontics & Dentofacial Orthopedics as well as deliver various continuing education presentations. My membership in several professional associations includes:
When Im not in the office, I love to be outdoors: gardening, hiking, running and snow skiing. I also enjoy creating art and watching sports events. That being said, Disneyland is one of my favorite places because I refuse to let the kid in me grow up.
At Dunn Orthodontics, our goal is to provide patients with the same type of care we expect for ourselves or our family. Not only do we believe excellence begins with your first visit and continues throughout your treatment, we also believe you become part of our family once you step into our office.
Dr. Dunn uses clinically proven orthodontic techniques to ensure our patients achieve the best possible smiles. Traditional metal braces are the gold standard for treatment of children and teens, and adults can take advantage of clear braces and ClearCorrect clear aligners.

The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that children be examined by anorthodontist between the ages of five to seven years old. During the examination, we will evaluate whether your child would benefit from early treatment.
Early treatment, known as Phase One or Interceptive Treatment, typically begins around age eight or nine. Phase Two will begin around age 11 or older. The goal of early treatment is to correct the growth of the jaw and certain growth problems, such as underbite or a crossbite. Early treatment can also make room for permanent teeth and avoid impactions.
Orthodontic problems such as crowded teeth or too much space between the teeth, jaw growth problems, protruding teeth, and bad bites can be caused by a variety of circumstances. These circumstances may include genetics, injury, early or late loss of baby teeth, or thumb sucking.
