With 20 years of experience and a passion for excellence, Dr. Edward Longwe promotes the health of his community by providing exceptional oral surgical services in a timely, compassionate manner. Dr. Longwe became an oral maxillofacial surgeon to help people. Having experienced dental pain in the past, he understands what his patients are going through and is committed to providing them with the relief they deserve.
Originally from Malawi, Africa, Dr. Longwe attended Indiana University for his undergraduate degree. He continued his studies at Meharry Medical College for his Doctorate of Dental Surgery and Howard University for his oral and maxillofacial surgery training, as well as his residency. After completing his formal training, Dr. Longwe held the position of assistant professor in the oral and maxillofacial department at Howard University.
To stay abreast of current technology and trends in the oral surgical field, Dr. Longwe participates in continuing education every year by visiting the AAOMS annual meetings and courses held by the conference.
Dr. Longwe lives not far from his office in Chantilly. He is a family man with a wife, daughter, and son. When hes not in the office, Dr. Longwe enjoys playing soccer with his children and visiting local farmers markets for freshorganic produce. He is also a big fan of basketball and football, and participates in community runs for charity.

Great experience. I had a broken molar root that my dentist couldn't extract after hours in the chair. Dulles fit me in their schedule the next day, and Katie at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. Dr Longwe was fantastic and did the extraction quickly and pain free. I drove almost 2hrs to their office and it was well worth the trip for the professional service they provided. Highly recommend them.

I can't not say enough good things about this place. It's amazing! Dr. Longwe, Katie, and Megan were so kind, considerate, and just downright wonderful. I had terrible anxiety about having the surgery. They answered all my questions and made me feel so comfortable. I'm a little over 2 days out from surgery, and recovery is going great. I would definitely recommend this place for all your oral needs.

Great experience staff and doctor wise. The staff were very professional and understanding to my concerns. They helped me getting scheduled and nurses lsitened carefully to my teeth complaints. Doctor Edward was wonderful and knows very well his profession. He took on his behalf to discover the real issue of my pain and resolve it. He was very determined to help me. Surgery went quick and sucessful. I went to so many dentists for the same issue before and nobody was able to give me a straight answer to my concerns which was an evidence of their ill-knowledge. Doctor Edward has a very nice personality and a happy smile on his face whick spread comforts in patients surgery enviroment. I did the surgery today. I already feel much better. I would always come back to Doctor Edward clinic.

Amazing experience over all! i have terrible dentist anxiety and they helped soothe any worries i had!! i had all my wisdom teeth pulled and I'm on day three and feel great!!. thank u to all the nurses and dr L who helped make this surgery as smooth as possible.

My Dentist referred me to Dr. Longwe because I needed an emergency extraction, due a poorly done root canal by another dentist. Dr. Longwe was off that day, however he agreed to come in and extract the tooth plus the other tooth next to it that was already broken. His chair side manners and services were superb and so was the services of his technician. They were both extremely gracious and empathetic, given the level of pain I was in.

After my appointment to extract my wisdom teeth was unexpectedly cancelled by another local provider due to their decision to stop accepting my insurance, I called Dulles Oral Surgical Center to see if they had any last-minute end-of-year appointments available. From the initial conversation through the procedure itself, this office did an amazing job of getting me in and making me feel so comfortable and reassured with every aspect of the procedure. I had been putting off this surgery for years due to anxiety, but they answered every question I had with care and assured me every step of the way. I had a difficult extraction because two of my four wisdom teeth had not yet come in, yet the doctor and his team expertly performed the surgery with no complications. I had the best experience and will absolutely recommend them to everyone who inquires about a local oral surgeon.

I had my impacted bottom wisdom teeth removed by Dr. Shinwari and he did an EXCELLENT job! Not only did he thoroughly explain the procedure and associated risks, he also was very professional, calm, and helpful during the consultation and procedure. The staff are very warm and accommodating; they were kind enough to roll me in a wheelchair all the way out to the car, help me get in, and even gave me a blanket to keep warm since it was cold, and I didn't even ask! It has been a little over a week since my surgery, and my mouth has healed very well! I am back to eating regularly and can hardly tell I had surgery. Great experience all around, I definitely recommend that you schedule a consultation if you need your wisdom teeth extracted.

I had such a great experience at this place. Every single staff member from the oral surgeon, to the assistants, and front desk were all very helpful and welcoming. I usually have anxiety when going to the dentist or doctors but they definitely put me at ease. I highly recommend this place and will definitely come back if I ever need any further services from them.
