My familys legacy in orthodontics began in 1963 with my father, a wonderful example of an orthodontist, educator, and parent. He taught me to always strive for excellence and to be kind and compassionate to patients and their families. Dr. Steven Dugoni has been in private practice since 1981. He received his Doctorate of Dental Medicine from Tufts University and his Masters degree in Orthodontics at the University of the Pacific, Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry. Dr. Dugoni has been board certified by the American Board of Orthodontics for more than 30 years.

Dr. Dugoni belongs to the Peninsula Orthodontic Research Group (PORG), which meets quarterly to discuss orthodontic topics with review orthodontic cases and emerging technology. He also belongs to the Northern California Angle Society, which meets quarterly and is comprised of private practitioners and educators. The latest orthodontic research is presented at these meetings. Both PORG and Angle Society are by invitation only to high quality orthodontists in the Bay Area.

In addition to Dr. Dugonis commitment to his practice, he also makes time to teach at the University of the Pacific, Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry. Dr. Dugoni has been an Adjunct Associate Clinical Professor and Director of the Mixed Dentition Clinic in the Graduate Department of Orthodontics for more than 25 years.

Dr. Dugoni is a published author of articles in the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, the Journal of the California Dental Association, and the Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists Bulletin. He has lectured on orthodontic care both locally and nationally.

Dr. Dugoni has two children, Emily and Patrick, as well as a 12-year-old cat named Wally. Dr. Dugoni enjoys spending his free time playing golf, riding his bicycle, walking, reading, and being with family.

Adrienne Joy is a Bay Area native and attended high school locally. She earned her Bachelor of Arts (AB) degree in Chemistry from Princeton University with a certificate in Materials Science and Engineering. After college, she spent one year doing research at Stanford University. Pursuing her passion to help others, she attended dental school and obtained her DMD degree from the University of Pennsylvania. While at Penn, she was selected to join the Clinical Honors program, which focused on producing highly proficient dental practitioners and future leaders. After spending eight years on the east coast, Dr. Joy returned to San Francisco, where she earned her Certificate in Orthodontics and Masters degree from the University of the Pacific, Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry. Her Masters thesis research involved analyzing changes in airway dimensions in adult orthodontic patients that had premolar extractions compared to those who were treated non-extraction. She received awards from the ADA Foundation/Colgate Research group, Hinman Symposium, and Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontics for her research.

Dr. Joy enjoys staying up to date with the latest advances in orthodontics, and she is an Adjunct Clinical Instructor in the orthodontics department at the University of the Pacific. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, hiking, tennis, skiing, and playing the guitar.

Our Registered Dental Assistants include Cheryl andJamie. Bothwomen graduated from the College of San Mateo Dental Assistant Program. Between the three of them, Cheryl, Jamie, and Vinnyhave more than 40 years of dental assisting experience. They will work closely with you throughout the duration of your orthodontic treatment.
