From an early age, Dr. Donald C. Schmitt learnedthe joy and satisfaction that comes from working with children. His father started the practice in 1959 and Dr. Schmitt grewup seeing how the care his father provided helped children to lead healthier, happier lives.

Dr. Schmitt is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. The ABPD certifies pediatric dentists based on standards of excellence that ensure high-quality oral healthcare for infants, children, adolescents, and patients with special healthcare needs.

Certification as a Diplomate by the ABPD provides assurance to the public that a pediatric dentist has successfully completed accredited training and a voluntary examination process. This rigorous processis designed to regularly validate the knowledge, skills, and experience requisite forthe delivery of quality patient care.

For many years, Dr. Schmitt has served on the faculty at the University of the Pacific Dugoni School of Dentistry. At UOPhe teaches dental students the unique skills needed to care for children in the dental environment. Thisalso provides numerous opportunities for Dr. Schmitt to consult with other faculty members and stay current on the latest materials and techniques being used in pediatric dentistry.

Dr. Schmitt has served as treasurer and on the executive committee of the board of the California Society of Pediatric Dentistry. This volunteer organizations mission is to serve the public by advocating for the optimal oral health of infants, children, and adolescents. His work with the CSPD has given Dr. Schmitt a greater appreciation for the oral health needs of Californias children.

Dr. Schmitt is also an active member of the Danville Rotary and serves on the Danville Rotary Foundation Board. This organization supports a variety of local causes, including the Discovery Counseling Center and the Food Bank.

When hes not seeing patients, Dr. Schmitt can often be found with his family, including their dogs and cats, at their home in Alamo. The family enjoys snow skiing, along with playing and attending sporting events. Dr. Schmitt also coaches his sons basketball, baseball, and soccer teams.

Dr. Rinku S. Saini is dedicated to providing each patient with age-appropriate care, without relying on sedation for treatment. Instead, he takes time to gain the childs trust and engage with each boy or girlin a friendly and non-threatening manner. With his calm, patient, and reassuring presence, he helps even the most anxious youngsterrelax and feel secure.

Dr. Saini believes the one doctor for one family treatment model provides stable continuity of care and builds trust between the family and doctor. He is skilled at explaining technical processes in an easy-to-understand manner, encourages questions from his patients and families, and thrives on earning a childs heartfelt smile.

A father himself, Dr. Saini knows each child is an individual and requires care that meets all clinical, emotional, and developmental needs. He talks with patients before, during, and after treatment, and constantly offers encouragement and praise as children develop healthy smiles and habits.

Prior to attending dental school, Dr. Saini was a fifth grade teacher in Southern California. This experience helped guide his decision to become a pediatric dentist and continues to inspire his interest in education.

Dr. Saini was a full-time faculty member at Columbia University School of Dental Medicine and the University of the Pacific (UOP) School of Dentistry in San Francisco. At UOP, he lectured on oral health of children with special needs, dental management of pediatric patients with complex medical conditions, and management of pediatric dental trauma.

These organizations offer numerous continuing educational opportunities, including meetings, seminars, lectures, and hands-on courses. Dr. Saini takes advantage of every opportunity to learn the latest information, and to study advancements in technologies and treatment methodologies.

Dr. Sainis happiest times are spent with his wife, Pelin Cinar-Saini, MD, and their young son, Ari. The family loves to explorethe Bay Areas beauty and nature, and enjoys bike rides, attending concerts, and watching the Warriors and Lakers play.
