Dr. Colasanto was born in Alexandria and grew up knowing that dentistry was his calling. His father was a general dentist, and Dr. Colasanto spent many years working in the office as a teen. He was inspired by his fathers dedication and close relationship with his patients, attributes that are implemented in his practice to this day.
As an active member of the American Association of Periodontology, Dr. Colasanto regularly attends local and national seminars and conferencesallowinghim to stay up to date on the latest advances in periodontal and implant treatments. In addition to furthering his own education, he was also member of Virginia Commonwealth University Department of Periodontics part-time faculty and enjoyed giving back by teaching new generations of practitioners.
Dr. Colasanto met his wife and partner Dr. Maryam Monfared during his postdoctoral residency at Medical College of Virginia. They have two active sons who keep them very busy with school and extracurricular activities. Some of Dr. Colasantos hobbies include cooking for large family gatherings, traveling to local and distant destinations, reading, and working on artistic projects with his kids.
Dr. Colasanto feels very fortunate to be so connected to the community. He enjoys volunteering at his sons school and extracurricular activities such as Boy Scouts and Crew, and regularly participates in local park cleanups.

Dr. Monfared became interested in dentistry after spending a lot of time in a dental chair as a child, and was encouraged by her family dentistone of the first female dentists in Long Island, New York, where Dr. Monfared grew up. She loved the idea of being connected to the community in a way that allowed her to make an impact on peoples health, happiness, and well-being.
As part of her commitment to providing the very best possible patient care, Dr. Monfared stays updated on new and emerging advances by attending local and national seminars and conferences. For several years, she was also a member of the VCU Department of Endodontics part-time faculty, both in the doctoral and postdoctoral programs. She looks forward to continuing to give back by returning to teaching on a part-time basis.
Dr. Monfared was lucky enough to meet her husband and partner, Dr. Michael Colasanto, in dental school at VCU/MCV. They have practiced together for more than 20 years. Their two active boys are their pride and joy, keeping the family busy with their many activities. Drs. Monfared and Colasanto do find the time to attend music and theater performances and spend time with their extended family whenever possible. They also volunteer as a family in local nursing homes and in community cleanups of local parks.

We work closely with you and your general dentist to determine the best course of treatment and customize it to your individual needs.
We are a well-established, professional, and patient-centered practice. Wetake pridein performing a high-level of specialized care in a friendly gentle manner. This includes comprehensive gum disease treatment, tissueand bonegrafting, aesthetic gum treatment, and endodontic therapy. In the case where a tooth cannot be saved, we also offer placement of dental implants.
