Originally from Chicago, Dr. Christopher is a 3rd generation dental specialist. Her grandfather, father, and 2 uncles practiced orthodontics for the US Army and in Chicago for many decades. Dr. Christopher received her undergraduate education at Wellesley College, in Massachusetts. She received her dental training at the University of Illinois-Chicago School of Dentistry where he also taught dental students as an instructor. Following dental school, Dr. Christopher served as a General Dentist for the U.S. Public Health Service serving Native Americans in New Mexico. She continued her education at The Ohio State University earning her specialty certificate in periodontics and also received a Master of Science degree in Oral Biology with her research focus on DNA fingerprinting of bacteria and peri-implantitis. Dr. Christopher was a clinical instructor at theUniversity of Maryland Dental School and was voted as a faculty of the year and selected by the 1999 graduating class as one of the 3 faculty members to award their doctoral of dental surgery degree during graduation ceremonies. Dr. Christopher has been active as an instructor as she is an examiner at the VCU Dept of Periodontics for the mock boards. Dr. Christopher is a guru in the area of gum grafting. She has developed a modification of the tunneling technique using allograft and has presented her technique in many meetings in the US and internationally in many countries. She has been invited to present her periodontal plastic surgery (gum grafting) techniques at 4 annual meetings of the American Academy of Periodontology.
Dr. Christopher and her husband Dr. Favagehi have been practicing in Falls Church since 1999. They have both been selected by their peers as the best periodontist, or 'top dentist' in multiple surveys conducted by the Washingtonian, Northern Virginia magazine, and Virginia Living magazine.
Dr. Favagehi graduated from Medical College of Virginia School of Dentistry (Virginia Commonwealth University) in 1994. He completed his specialty training in periodontics & Dental implant surgery at The Ohio State University in 1997 where he also received a Master of Science degree in Oral Biology and received a research award for groundbreaking research on surgical wound healing.
Dr. Favagehi has been an adjunct faculty member (Clinical Assistant Professor) at the Dept. of Periodontics (VCU School of Dentistry). In 2011, he received a Teaching Award from the American Academy of Periodontology. He is a member of the American Dental Association, Virginia Dental Society, American Academy of Periodontology (AAP) and Academy of Osseointegration (AO). He has served on various committees with AAP, and AO including chairman of Research Submissions Committees (AAP, and AO) and Editor of Academy News (Academy of Osseointegration). Dr. Favagehi is an active presenter at many dental meetings in the USA and internationally. He has presented at annual meetings of IADR, ADA, AAP, AO, AAOMFS, CAOMFS, and many state and regional dental societies, etc.
Dr. Favagehi received his undergraduate degree (BS Biology) at George Mason University in 1990. He married Dr. Christopher about 25 years ago and they both live near their office with their daughter Dana, and son Zachary.
We treat our patients as our own family. Our first and foremost focus is patient safety. We take sterilization, infection control measures and cleanliness very seriously at our office. Our infection control and sterilization includes special filters and chemicals to protect as biofilm. We use 3 autoclaves in addition to chemical and/or UV disinfection prior to sterilization. We use a 3rd party testing agency as the quality control to make sure our sterilization is effective.
We use digital x-rays and the latest 3 D cone beam CT scan technology to minimize x-ray radiation by as much as 90%. We do not use amalgam (mercury) in our office and never have used any chemicals to process traditional x-rays (we were digital from the beginning of our practice).
We started our practice in 1999. In 2010, we purchased the practice of Dr. John F Armstrong who practiced in Falls Church for over 33 years. We also merged our practice with Dr. John Deutsch- Periodontist who practiced in our office until 2012 when he retired after over 40 years of practice in periodontics.

We had an amazing experience with Dr. Favagehi. He took time to thoroughly explain each procedure my daughter needed, and the results of her surgery were phenomenal. Both the dental care support team and the administrative staff were extremely professional and courteous. The atmosphere is welcoming and friendly. I highly recommend this practice if you're looking for a warm, friendly office with a superbly qualified periodontist that provides excellent patient care, and has great customer service skills.

Dr. Favagehi completed a full mouth restoration for me that included 12 implants (6 in the upper jaw and 6 in the lower jaw), a set of full arch implant-supported fixed dentures, and all necessary preparatory procedures including bone grafting and extractions. He completed all of these complex and challenging procedures flawlessly without any complications. His immense knowledge, extensive experience, and meticulous planning made it all possible. I am extremely happy and thankful for the new teeth that he made for me, which are both aesthetically beautiful and remarkably functional. In addition to being an excellent dentist/oral surgeon, Dr. Favagehi is a compassionate person, who cares deeply about his patients' well-being. Before each surgical procedure, he would make certain that I was physically comfortable and psychologically relaxed before starting the procedure. His calm demeanor projected confidence and reassurance, which helped me to feel calm and relaxed in turn. After each surgical procedure, he would check on me the following day to make sure I was doing well. Dr. Favagehi is the best dentist/oral surgeon I have ever had and I am truly fortunate to be under his care. I highly recommend Dr. Favagehi and his office to anyone who needs dental implants and/or other related dental procedures.

Dr. Favagehi is a superb periodontist, providing a variety of services at a reasonable price. I have had 3 implants from Dr. F, one in progress. He teaches periodontics to other dentists at VCU. He uses up-to-date technology, and advanced bone-augmentation procedures to make the implant strong and long-lasting. He explains what he is doing and avoids dental-pain. His fees are much more reasonable than, for example, Clear Choice. He impresses me with his skill, knowledge and demeanor. He deserves an award, in addition, for answering all of my many questions. His office wall is full of awards from regional organizations as a (or THE) top periodontist.

I am now moving from the area and will miss receiving their care. I have been a patient of Dr. Favagehi since 1999 and was impressed at first with his delight in using the latest technologies and his personal interest in making sure that every detail of my situation was addressed. I don't think there's enough space for me to describe just how fantastic Dr. Favagehi is! I'm someone who is terrified of the dentist and when I found out I needed an implant, I felt physically ill. My dentist actually recommended Dr Favagehi and after my consultation I knew he was a great choice for me. Unfortunately he doesn't accept my insurance. After doing a lot of research and seeing his name at the top of all of the "Best of" lists, I decided to pay for my procedure out of pocket. After having the first part done (the extraction), I know that I made the right decision. He was generous with his time with me, explaining the procedure and did everything possible to make it less scary. I had NO PAIN during the procedure/extraction nor afterwards. He was gentle and his demeanor was very calming to me. I was going to pay a lot of money for the IV sedation but he assured me I'd be okay...and I was! No problem at all and I was comfortable the entire time. You won't be disappointed choosing Dr. Favagehi. Both he and his staff are amazing!

If you want world class care, Drs Christopher and Favagehi are simply the best periodontists. I have had surgical extractions, a sinus lift, bone grafts and dental implants. In each case, Dr. Favagehi and/or Dr. Christopher provided expert skills, gentle touch and thoughtful explanations. Their office is bright and cheerful; their staff is courteous; they are on the cutting edge of technology; and they make a special effort to be sure their patients are comfortable. Moreover, I have family members and friends who are patients of these wonderful doctors. We all agree ... good dental health is very important. Drs Christopher and Favagehi have made a very special difference in all of our lives. They have been pivotal on my road to good dental health. I highly recommend their services.

I am very pleased to have referral from Dr. Kirsten S. Lee , D.M.D. to see both Dr. Lourdes Ann Christopher DDS, MS and Dr. Mehrdad Favagehi, DDS, MS. I had a molar removed by Dr. Christopher first. Then recently, I have to redo 3 molar implants done badly from a different Implant Specialist. Dr. Favahegi explained very thoroughly the different options for me. I can see the progress of my procedures and know the hardware were installed at the right angles to my gum so the placement of the new implants will be more secure. Dr. Favahegi uses the latest techniques and does it with confidence and ensure me each step the success of my implants. There was hardly any blood loss from the laser treatment on my gum. The bone graft procedure was clean and helps with better gum retention. I have to report the services I received are excellent. The office environment is clean and tidy and professional staff always with a smile. i am so glad to find an implant specialist that I can trust.
