Our dentists and dental team have been practicing in the Rocky Mount area for several decades, so were truly tied to the community. We love being able to see glowing smiles that we helped create whenever were out and about, and we truly enjoy putting unique, special touches on every patients experience. We get to know our patients as people, not numbers; unfortunately, that has become an uncommon style of care to provide nowadays.
As a child, Dr. Belton had an uncle who worked as a dentist, and seeing such an up-close-and-personal look at the dental field certainly inspired him. His uncle truly loved his job and practiced well into his 80s! Through him, he learned that good dentistry was much more about the people than it was about simply fixing teeth. Dr. Belton even had the amazing privilege to work directly with his uncle for a little while after graduating dental school and all these years later, he stills feels confident that following in the mans footsteps was the perfect choice.
Dr. Belton is a proud 1985 graduate of the University of North Carolina Dental School. In the mid-90s, he attended the Dawson Academy and strove to elevate his technical prowess. This was followed by eight weeks at the Pankey Institute, where he combined his newfound technical talents with the essential relationship component of dental care. Dentistry truly requires lifelong learning, which is why he continues to attend courses regularly through various prestigious institutions. Hes also passionate about teaching and mentoring the next generation of dentists, which is why he spent several years working as an adjunct faculty member at the ECU Dental School.
More recently, Dr. Belton has been on a particular journey to help patients overcome untreated sleep apnea through custom oral appliance therapy! He is also a member of the following dental organizations:
Dr. Belton has been married to his wife Amelia for over 40 years now. They have four grown children named Amy (who works as his chairside assistant), Erin, Katie, and Daniel. They are a very outdoorsy family! Hes always been a lifelong exerciser and loves running, as well as coaching other runners. He recently bought a road bike and has been enjoying that as well. Additionally, he and his son have a passion for classic cars and are currently working on the restoration of a 1968 Camaro.
Dr. Schrimper has been working hard at improving smiles for well over 25 years so far! Dentistry allows him to use both the problem-solving side of his brain and the artistic side every day, and he always finds it very rewarding to care for patients, whether they need help with escaping dental pain or simply feeling more confident about their appearance. From a very early age, Dr. Schrimpers mother encouraged him to pursue a job in the medical field. She believed in him and wanted him to succeed more than anything, and that unwavering support has been a huge source of inspiration throughout his life.
As a kid, Dr. Schrimper also spent lots of time hanging out with his best friends family especially his dad, who was a dentist. Getting to see behind of the scenes of what it was like to have that job left a big impact on him, and soon enough, he found himself pursuing the same path. Today, he couldnt imagine doing anything else!
After completing his undergraduate degree at North Carolina State University, Dr. Schrimper pursued his Doctor of Dental Surgery at the University of North Carolina. Once he graduated in 1994, he began practicing right here in Rocky Mount, staying close to his hometown of Raleigh. Continuing education is a big passion for him to this day as well! He has completed many of the prestigious Pankey Institutes courses, as well as available trainings at the Nash Institute and Dawson Institute. Some of his main focuses include cosmetic dentistry, TMJ treatment, CEREC restorations, and root canal therapy. He is currently a ClearCorrect provider and a member of the American Dental Association and North Carolina Dental Society.
Dr. Schrimper spends plenty of time with his five children, who range from teenagers to grown adults in their mid-20s. Four are currently attending college at UNC Chapel Hill and UNCW. His father is a retired faculty member at North Carolina State University, while his mother has recently passed away. As for hobbies, hes passionate about music (particularly the guitar), watching college basketball/football (GO PACK) and the NFL, gaming, fishing, and keeping up with the latest documentaries/series on Netflix.
