He then attended a General Practice Residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. He also received his specialty training in periodontics at the UT Health Science Center in San Antonio. He completed three certifications in moderate intravenous sedation and holds certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Pediatric Life Support. He was in specialty practice in Dallas for three years before moving to Austin, Texas, where he is now one of the leading innovators of implant and periodontal therapy.
Dr. Yu has lectured nationally to general dentists, specialists, and hygiene professionals about wide-ranging topics such as biologic mediators, tissue engineering, virtual planning of implant placement, immediate implant therapy with provisionalization of implants, 3D-assisted surgery and All-On-4 (or Teeth in a Day). His unique skills have honed his practice towards aesthetic surgical periodontics.
50+ lectures (2001-present) on varied topics in including immediate implant placement, All-On-4, periodontal plastic surgical procedures, biologic mediators, and implant designs. Lecture invitations has included: Texas Dental Association, Texas Academy of General Dentistry, Capital Area Dental Society, Dallas County Dental Society, UT Houston Dental School, UT Health Science Center San Antonio Dental School and Periodontics Department, Star of the South Dental Meeting, El Paso Dental Meeting, Southwest Society of Periodontics, Fort Hood, Houston Society of Periodontists, and Louisiana Society of Periodontists, American Academy of Periodontology Annual Meeting, and World Bone Congress Madrid, Spain.
Dr. Litizzette practiced in Knoxville, Tennessee for three years before moving to Austin, Texas. As a periodontist in Knoxville she worked in several general dentistry offices where she was the only specialist responsible for all periodontal concerns. Her practice focused on treating all levels of periodontal disease as well as implant dentistry.
In her spare time, Dr. Litizzette is busy with her three children. Her husband is a native of Austin and a commercial pilot. She enjoys traveling, cooking, scrap-booking, reading, biking, and spending time with her family.

Dr. Yu and his whole team are amazing. I am so nervous of the medical procedure Dr. Yu is going to do on me. Dr. Yu and his nurse Ashley made my dental procedure not painful. Dr. Yu is very patient to explain the procedure, what to expect and what his next move is so that I can be prepared. They gave me the time to rest patiently during the procedure. On the same day of procedure, Dr. Yu will call me to follow up how I feel and sometimes reinforce what I shall do to deal with the swelling and pain. Dr. Yu is very knowledgeable and kind, during the procedure, he always say kind word to encourage the patient. I would highly recommend Dr. Yu and his whole team.

Dr. Yu extracted one of my back molars in just a few minutes. It was painless. I had opted out of the IV sedation which would have been absolutely unnecessary for the procedure. He has a great upbeat and comforting manner, making the whole experience as pleasant as possible. He even called to see how I was doing this evening. My favorite dental professional ever!

I'd heard from 3 different dentists that Dr.Yu is the best oral surgeon in Texas & beyond. Now I know why that was said. Dr. Yu & his warm staff provided clear instructions, pain care & healing beyond what most doctors & surgeons do. His oral surgery is performed like art & sculpture; work is precise & clean. Best of all, Dr. Yu is attentive & encouraging. Doesn't get better than that.

Dr. Yu was so great and really took the time not only to listen and field all my questions but to also suggest there may be an alternative treatment to my concerns that could possibly save me the stress, time, energy, and money than the implant(s) I was sure I needed. It says a lot about a doctor who provides information to you that takes $$ out of his own pocket and redirects that business to another dental provider who can possibly fix the problem with an entirely different approach (root canal) rather than implant surgery. Thanks, Dr. Yu! Update (9-27-22) One year (and a lot of procrastination later), after exploring if the root canal approach might save my tooth -- no such luck -- tooth was beyond saving. So yesterday, Dr. Yu extracted #20 and the experience was amazingly easy, comfortable and professional. His process is geared so much toward "a biologically sound" approach than any of other doctors I've seen in the past for tooth extractions (and sadly that is numerous). Dr. Yu's emphasis on proper healing techniques (e.g. anti-infection measures, ozone treatment, dental curretage, anti-oxident gel, bone-grafting) are in a completely different realm than any other practitioners I've looked into. It was so reassing to have he and his team watching out for me as I come with special health issues -- two heart surgeries and a previous bout with endocarditis -- both of which require the highest standards of infection protection. Dr. Yu is the man!
