Dr. Bar-Zion was raised in the San Fernando Valley and attended the University of California at Irvine where he was involved in academics as well as research. Dr. Bar-Zion continued his education at S.U.N.Y at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine where he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree. He completed his dental school education at S.U.N.Y at Buffalo and graduated first in his class with highest honors and was designated Summa Cum Laude. Following graduation from dental school, Dr. Bar-Zion was accepted into the University of Florida Orthodontic and Dentofacial Orthopedics program. There he obtained his Orthodontic Specialist Degree as well as his Masters. After completing his Specialty training in Orthodontics and receiving his Masters Degree from the University of Florida, Dr. Bar-Zion moved back to Southern California. Shortly after he settled in Newbury Park, he opened the Moorpark andNewburyParkoffices. Both offices are equipped with the latest and state of the art technology.
Dr. Bar-Zion is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthodontics and is currently an assistant Professor and faculty at the University of Southern California department of Orthodontics. There he engages in various research projects including the development of an in vitro cell stretching technique and apparatus as well as a chewing machine to validate a 3D jaw motion tracking device.
Dr. Bar-Zion is also a nationally recognized speaker and lecturer, and has been invited on numerous occasions to lecture at the American Association of Orthodontists annual meetings. His primary focus is technology and its application in clinical orthodontics. He has lectured around the country in such places as Hawaii, Chicago, Orlando, Miami, San Francisco, and Philadelphia to name a few and his presentations are very well received as the growing use of technology is an existing and sought after topic. Recently, Dr. Bar-Zion was a member of the organizing and focus committee for the AAOs inaugural Office of the Future presentation, he also frequently reviews scientifc articles for the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics and served as the Website Editor for the CAO.
When Dr. Bar-Zion is not treating patients, lecturing, teaching, or attending continuing education and study clubs, he enjoys spending time with his family and engaging in hobbies. Dr. Bar-Zion and his wife Mandy have two children, Emma and Ryan. They enjoy going to the beach, museums, and fairs. Dr. Bar-Zion also enjoys archery, construction projects, hiking, skiing, mountain biking, and watching movies.

Dr. Bar-Zion graduated at the top of his class from dental school, receiving numerous awards. During his orthodontic training, he was chosen to be the Chief Resident carrying additional responsibilities in education, research, and clinical care. Dr. Bar-Zion has subsequently become Board Certified by the ABO, faculty at University of Southern California, lectured nationally on Orthodontic Technology, published numerous articles, served on orthodontic associations, and participated in countless study clubs. My three children have all had their orthodontic work done by Dr. Bar-Zion. All 3 had very different plans of treatment and each of them ended up with beautiful smiles!! The staff is super friendly and always accommodating when the unexpected problem arose. We are so thankful for all the years we've worked with Dr. Bar-Zion and his staff!!!

My daughter has been coming to Dr. Bar-Zion for over 13 years. He has always been meticulous with his work. She recently had a double jaw surgery which required her to wear braces before and after her surgery. Dr. Bar-Zion made sure her teeth looked perfect before her braces were removed. Her teeth look spectacular!! She is sooo happy!! His office staff is delightful and friendly, as well. We highly recommend Dr. Bar-Zion for orthodontic work!!

My son started treatment just as Covid surfaced and the staff along with Dr Bar-Zion handled his treatment with style and grace. They setup up their office above what the mandated protocols required for Covid. We felt safe with each visit. The staff is always friendly and dependable and the Dr is very knowledgeable. Their equipment is top notch. It has been such a pleasure receiving treatment for our son. I highly recommend seeing Dr Bar-Zion for orthodontic treatment.

Been coming to Dr. Bar-Zion Orthodontics for 3 years for my daughter's braces. Dr. B and staff are always friendly and professional. My son smiles a lot , but I don't think we'll ever see him not smiling as he looks even more handsome along with extra confidence. Both my son and daughter saw Dr. Bar Zion for their braces. At our initial consult, Dr. Bar Zion's office was very clear about the process for each of them (different treatment plans), as well as the cost. Braces off for both and we are happy. The office staff was great at accommodating our scheduling needs with school and sports, and we always could get in for a broken bracket or a poking wire. Dr. Bar Zion and his staff are very efficient, with Dr. Bar Zion taking time to explain next steps, answer questions, etc. My kids teeth look fabulous - the before and after of my daughter was night and day, with an under/cross bite to adjust, expander work, and phases of braces. I would recommend Dr. Bar Zion to anyone looking for an orthodontist.
