Dr. Yoon grew up in Seoul, South Korea, and Orange County in southern California. She attended BIOLA (Bible Institute of Los Angeles) University, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry in 1998.

Her interest in dentistry took her to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where she received her Doctorate of Dental Medicine (DMD) from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine in 2003. She attended a one-year General Practitioner Residency program at Virtua Hospital, during which she affirmed her desire to work with children. The next year Dr. Yoon was selected to a residency-training program for pediatric dentistry at Temple University Hospitals Episcopal Division. She served the second of the two-year program as Co-Chief Resident, and received her specialty certificate in 2006.

We recognize that all of our young patients are unique and deserve to receive dental care that reflects their individual needs. Our experienced and talented dental team is committed to working with you and your child to create a comfortable, stress-free, and rewarding dental experience every time you visit our practice.

A childs first visit to the dentist should be enjoyable. Children are not born with a natural fear of the dentist, but they can fear the unknown. Our office makes a special effort to use pleasant, non-frightening, simple words to describe each treatment. We want you and your child to feel at ease from the moment your family arrives at our office.

Children should visit the dentist by their first birthday. It is important that your childs newly erupted teeth (erupting at six to 12 months of age) receive proper dental care and benefit from proper oral hygiene habits right from the beginning.

Your childs first primary, or baby, teeth will begin to erupt between the ages of six to 12 months, and will continue to erupt until about age three. During this time, your childs gums may feel tender and sore. To help alleviate this discomfort, we recommend that you soothe the gums by rubbing a clean finger or a cool, wet cloth across them. You may also choose to make use of a teething ring.

Your childs primary teeth are shed at various times throughout childhood. Permanent teeth begin erupting at age six, and continue until age 21. Adults have 28 permanent teeth (32, teeth including wisdom teeth).

As your childs teeth erupt, be sure to examine them every two weeks, looking for lines and discoloration that may be caused by decay. Remember that sugary foods and liquids can attack a new tooth, so take care that your child brushes his or her teeth after feeding or eating. We recommend brushing two times a day for optimal oral hygiene.

Brushing can be fun, and your child should brush as soon as the first tooth arrives. When a babys tooth erupts, parents should brush the tooth with a soft-bristled toothbrush and a pea-sized amount of toothpaste. For children younger than two, do not use fluoride toothpaste unless advised to do so by your dentist or other healthcare professional. We suggest reviewing proper tooth brushing procedures with your child.

Flossing is also a part of good oral hygiene habits, and your dentist will discuss with you the right time to start flossing your childs teeth. If you notice signs of decay, contact your dentist immediately.

Tooth decay is caused by sugars left in your mouth that turn into an acid, which can break down your teeth. Children are at high risk for tooth decay for a simple reason: many children and adolescents do not practice regular, good oral hygiene habits. Proper brushing and flossing routines combined with regular dental visits help keep tooth decay away.

Your child should visit the dentist every six months for regular dental cleanings and checkups. We recommend fluoride treatments twice a year along with cleanings to keep teeth their strongest. Tooth sealants are also recommended because they seal the deep grooves in your childs teeth, preventing decay from forming in these hard-to-reach areas. Sealants last for several years, but will be monitored at your childs regular checkups.

My kids are on the spectrum which makes dental procedures very challenging . Dr. Tak and her staff are well trained to handle children on the spectrum. They earned the trust of my children which makes dental visits a thing to look forward too.

Dr. Tak is so incredibly patient and attentive to my 2 older kids and I (the parent). She asks and answers all questions we may have, and gives good advise and plans to implement so our kid's teeth can be in the best shape possible. And she's so kind and always has a smile ! The entire office is rated a 10/5!

Dr. Tak and staff are amazing. Dr. Tak's extensive knowledge and skill in the field of dentistry, along with her kind and calm demeanor put us at ease with the treatment our 5 year old received. We cannot say enough good things!

Read all reviews before taking your kids not made for children. The old lady at the front office needs to retire. Simply Rude. Dentist not made to serve young children. Can barely understand her accent. Didn't care for my child's feelings. Simply wanted to rush the job. Eager to charge insurance. Don't recommend. Go somewhere else.

Love Dr. Yoon Tak, we have been taking our 11 year old since his first dental appointment. She is kind, gentle, and patient with kids and she has never requested any extra dental work like I have heard other doctors do. All of her staff is welcoming and in a great mood every time we have been there. 11 years and not a single cavity later, we still see her even though we moved from Grand Prairie two years ago. Would highly recommend her to anyone.

Today was our first visit with Dr. Yoon and I have never had such a great dental experience. All of the staff was very friendly, Dr. Yoon explained everything to us EXTREMELY well and answered all of the questions that I had. The dental hygienist was also very great and explained everything that she was doing as she was doing the dental cleaning. It was a great experience and I HIGHLY recommend this dental office.

My boy loved it here! He said it was fast and the doctor was nice lol. I really like that this dental clinic is down the street from me, they confirm appointments prior, all paperwork is electronically, they are very puntual with their appointments which is always a plus, we were in and out in an hour.

Dr Tak is amazing and so is her team. We love it. They always make my kids feel comfortable especially my little boy because he gets very anxious but they talked and calm him and make things so much smoother for him. Thank you so much.

I've been taking my kids to Grand Prairie Children's Dentistry for years and the Dentist and Tech's are amazing. I would give more stars but I was disappointed with the check out person who may be new since I haven't seen her before. Honestly, I didn't care for her attitude and not so great customer service skills. At check in, I asked for school notes and she said she said she would have that info. ready for me at checkout. However, when the my teens came out to the car no notes were given. I had to go back into the office and wait in line and she didn't have the note ready and she looked annoyed that I was asking her for it.

The best children's dentist around! Dr. Tak talks to my kids, makes them feel comfortable. She has been seeing them since they were 2. My son had a dental emergency and she was on the phone with us after hours evaluating photos and saw him first thing the next morning. Thank you Dr. Tak for everything you do! Your opinion and expertise are so valuable to our family.
