William H. Truax III D.M.D. (Dr Billy) is a third generation Dentist and was born and raised in Fort Myers, FL. He studied at the University of South Florida and obtained this degree in Biomedical Sciences and minored in Biomedical Physics. Dr. Billy then attended the University of Florida College of Dentistry. There he received two prestigious awards for the study of Implants and an award for outstanding Oral Surgery Skills. Upon graduating from the University of Florida he returned to Fort Myers and started practicing with his father, Dr William H Truax II.
Dr. Billy is married to his high school sweet heart Amber. They have two beautiful children Savannah and Hanson. The family enjoys the outdoors as much as possible. In the summer they are boating and fishing, and in the winter they can be found camping and hunting.
Dr. Billy prides himself on providing the highest quality dentistry possible, and does that by performing the newest concepts in dentistry with a mix of time tested procedures and materials to get the best result possible for you. He also can confidently give you the best care possible since he constantly takes continuing education courses in all aspects of dentistry. Dr Billy has spent countless hours at the Dawson Academy studying and learning the newest concepts in complete dentistry so that your new filling, crown, or smile doesnt just look great, it feels great. He has also taken many other courses around the country so that you have the best options and outcomes for whatever your needs are.
Dr Billys office has over a fifty-year history in Fort Myers. Dr. Bob Anderson opened the practice in 1961. After a short dental career here, he felt the calling to be a missionary for the Downtown Riverside Baptist Church. So in 1976 he packed his bags and moved to Africa to provide dental care and Preach. After completing his tour in the Navy, Dr. Billys dad, Dr William Truax II, purchased the practice from Dr. Anderson in 1976. 32 years later Dr Billy, Dr William Truax III, joined the practice. And Finally in 2010 Dr Billy purchased the practice from his father.

The staff and all who work for Dr. Truax are a joy to be around. Clean office and work spaces, good hygienists and Dr. Truax is a great dentist.

I absolutely love going to this dentist office. Shout out to Lindsay, the best dental hygienist ever! Friendly office staff who are super funny. And a very special thank you to the lady (Sandra) who paid for my dental cleaning today when she found out my insurance didn't cover it. That was so lovely of her, I'm going to pay it forward.

I just recently started going to see Dr. Truax. He and his staff are amazing! They always make you feel at ease and you can definitely tell that they genuinely care. You guys are awesome!

Don't go to this office for ANYTHING. They scheduled an appointment for me, 1st time patient. And they told me 3pm. I get a call from them stating, am I on my way? I said my appointment is not until 3pm. Basically the girl on the phone made the appointment and wanted to twist it around onto me making it my mistake.... And kept saying "the appointment was always at 10:30am". I see patients from 11am until 2:00 pm. I NEVER schedule my appointments during that time. After going back and forth with her on the phone and her talking over me, and saying I'm yelling at her, which I was not as I'm in a room with other workers. Then the person on the phone said " I think it's best you find another dentist " WOW!! Dr. Truax , you hire people that talk to your future patients and professional people that are in the Healthcare business. I'm appalled at the way I was just treated by your staff......

Really great dentist. Easy to talk to. Answered all my questions. Great staff. They are cracking jokes at 8am which makes everything a little easier. I would highly recommend him to anyone.

Billy is the best dentist I have ever had bar none. Super friendly, relatable and informative. Doesn't try to milk ever dime out of you. Gave a list of my options and let's me decide which direction to go in. If you're in Fort Myers and need a great dentist he's the guy.

I called and got an appointment for the next day, Dr Truax removed my infected wisdom teeth in 4 minutes. He is an outstanding professional dentist together with a warm friendly office.

Dr Truax and his staff are so friendly and welcoming. They were able to get my father in who is working there in Ft Myers from out of state, very quickly and he was very satisfied with the care he received. I highly recommend this dental practice.

My entire family goes here and they are all treated like family. The dentist hears our concerns and keeps us involved in the decision making process. My children requested to see Dr Billy over any of the pediatric practices in town because they love him! Staff is courteous and really work to fit us in the schedule when life gets crazy. We couldn't be more pleased!

I had been looking forward to checking out a new dentist. After sitting in the waiting room for awhile, I couldn't bring myself to use these people. This was the only message they had in the waiting room. It read loud and clear to me that these people are insensitive to people not like them. Vote with your money and go somewhere else.

Hands down the best dentist I have ever been to. I have always had bad teeth and a lifelong mortal fear of dentists but Dr Billy always makes me feel at ease. He removed all my top teeth and created my denture and I could not be happier with both the experience and the final product. He has literally changed my life. 10/10

I am not one who likes going to the dentist and have actually taken a Xanax in the past for my exams, but my first appointment at Dr. Truax's office was not just good, but exceptional! It started with them helping me get my old records, to enjoying the photos of old Fort Myers and their patriotic sign in their waiting area! Then Dawn brought me in and she was not only personable, but she is so gentle. I have tooth sensitivity and she uses techniques that really helped me with that. Then, after a rapid and painless cleaning, Dr. Truax came in and had an equally fun and calming manner. He examined my mouth and teeth and off I went in under an hour! BTW, not everyone can be done in 45 min, but relative to my past experiences, this was an easy 15 mins quicker and me and my dental-anxiety could not have been more pleased. My husband and I just moved here to Ft. Myers and I have officially found my new dentist and hygienist! Love them!
