An endodontist is a dentist with special training in diagnosing and treating problems associated with the inside of the tooth. They do only endodontic procedures in their practices because they are specialists. To become specialists, they complete dental school and an additional two or more years of advanced training in endodontics, one of the nine specialties recognized by the American Dental Association. They perform routine as well as difficult and very complex endodontic procedures, including retreatment of previous root canals that have not healed completely. Endodontists are also experienced at finding the cause of oral and facial pain that has been difficult to diagnose.Endodontists have advanced surgical and nonsurgical skills that make them uniquely qualified to treat routine as well as complex cases. The care that an endodontist provides is supported by intensive education on how to perform the very best endodontics. Endodontists also attend continuing education courses after they are in practice, so they are knowledgeable about state-of-the-art research, clinical procedures, and technology.
Dr. Vladimir Tismensky was born in Latvia, near the Baltic Sea. He moved to the Detroit area in 1991 to pursue his graduate studies. Subsequent to graduation from the University of Detroit Mercy Dental School, Dr. Tismensky entered the Endodontics Residency Program at the I.B. Bender Division of Endodontics, Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia, P.A. He was elected to Omicron Kappa Upsilon, the National Dental Honor Society, in 1999.
Dr. Tismensky has been in private practice as an Endodontist since 2001. He has taught Endodontic surgical techniques to endodontic residents as a part time faculty at Detroit Mercy Dental School until moving to Chicago in 2007. Dr. Tismensky is active in numerous dental and endodontic organizations. His special expertise includes complex non-surgical re-treatments and microscopic Endodontic surgery.
Dr.Vladimir Tismensky speaks fluent English, Russian, and Latvian. In his free time he enjoys music, photography, theater, downhill skiing, tennis and weightlifting. He resides in Chicago with his wife and three children.

I had a great experience at this practice! Starting with the friendly front desk staff, to the beautiful and modern/high-tech office, to the warm and caring assistants, and the excellent, knowledgeable, experienced, and kind Dr. Tismensky. I have never had a root canal before and he made it a PAIN-FREE, quick, and pleasant experience. He explained the process and kept me informed throughout the entire procedure. I highly recommend Dr. Tismensky and his amazing clinic to everyone including my family and friends!

I had a root canal in this office. Dr. Tismensky was very easy to deal with. He double-checked the need for the procedure and clearly, in great detail explained everything before and after the procedure. The procedure itself went really well -quick, painless and well done. This was my first visit to this doctor, but if needed, I will go next time only to him. I would recommend Dr.Tysmensky to my friends with no reservations.

I was in excruciating pain following a filling and my dentist called Dr.Vladimir Tismensky and they were able to see me the same day! I needed a root canal done and they did it the same day I went in there. The entire staff is warm and welcoming and they explain everything from insurance coverage to the procedures exceptionally. The procedure was completed with ease and the Doctor and his assistant (I believe her name was Marta) were the perfect team-quick, Easy and painless. Would highly recommend this practice, this doctor and this team!

I don't understand the negative review here. I was referred to Dr Tismensky by my other dentist and I'm very satisfied. He's not rude, he's professional. He did my root canal after another dentist messed it up. And the front desk assistant, Marta was very nice and she answered all my questions, call me to remind about my appointment - great job and great team!

Dr. Tizmensky is a professional, thorough, skilled, conscientious, and honest provider. Went to see him to evaluate a crown placed by a dentist and the need for a root canal. He knew the cause of my symptoms right away without me even having to explain them. He recommended against a root canal and that I give the crown more time to heal, even though it had been months. And he was absolutely correct! The pain slowly went away and I am pain free. The office was impeccably clean, the staff was patient and kind, top of the line technology, and I only waited a few minutes before heading back to the procedure room. Highly recommend for people who want a top notch, honest endodontist.

Thank you Dr. Tismensky for taking such good care of me. I woke up in so much pain like I never experienced before, my general dentist referred me to Dr. Tismensky. I explained that I was in lots of pain and the staff were very understanding and accommodating and told me to come in same day. Dr. Tismensky diagnosed the problem right away and did emergency root canal, he also follow up with me personally next day because I was so swollen when I came in to his office. I highly recommend Dr. Tismensky, he is a wonderful doctor.

Dr. Tismensky and his team are really great. I never had a Root canal treatment before and was very scared, but I was in and out of the office within an hour, it was not painful at all, and doctor was very nice and professional. Doctor's assistant called me the next day to make sure I was feeling fine and didn't have any questions, which was unexpected and nice. If I ever need another root canal I will definitely return to Professional Endodontics of Illinois to see Dr. Tismensky.

This dentist was so incredibly rude and disrespectful. He has no compassion or empathy for patients or his staff members. I would never recommend this dentist to anyone I know. Please save yourself the time and money and find a new endotontist!
