Dr. Vincent Prestipino is a leading dentist in the field of implant dentistry. He holds membership in the American College of Prosthodontists, is a Fellow in the Greater New York Academy of Prosthodontics and in the Academy of Osseointegration. Dr. Tassos Sfondouris is a periodontist as well as a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology and holds membership in the American Academy of Periodontology and Seattle Study Club. Dr. Tassos Sfondouris was born and raised in Annapolis, MD, and received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Clemson University. He went on to attend the University of Maryland, School of Dentistry where he earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery in 2007 as well as his Specialty Certificate in Periodontics and Dental Implants in 2010. Following the completion of his Periodontal specialty program, he completed a 2-year fellowship training program in Implants, Periodontics, and Prosthodontics. This advanced dental training focused on simple to complex restorative procedures such as single to full arch fixed and removable prosthetics, as well as cosmetic dental procedures.
Dr. Sfondouris is a former clinical research associate at the National Institute of Health (NIH), where he was involved in the clinical trial, Oral Microbial and Immunological Characterization of Patients with Immune Dysfunction.
Throughout his years in practice, Dr. Sfondouris has been committed to advancing his skills and knowledge through continuing education. He trained directly with the most prominent Clinicians and Institutions including Interdisciplinary Dental Education Academy (IDEA), Dr. Jack Turbyfill, The Pikos Institute, and Spear Education. In addition, Dr. Sfondouris has received advanced training in techniques including Ceramic Restorations, Microsurgical and Plastic Surgical Techniques, All-on-Four Immediate Dental Implant Placement, Periodontal and Bone Regeneration.
In addition to his education and training, Dr.Sfondouris and Dr. Prestipino joined together to create a local Spear Education Study Club in 2016. This study club consists of a group of dentists and specialists who are committed to providing quality comprehensive treatment options for their patients. This group meets monthly to discuss clinical cases, dental topics, new techniques and technologies that help advance their collective dental knowledge.
Dr. Sfondouris is also a current member and past president of the Alpha Omega, Dental Society, DC chapter, as well as a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology, Academy of Osseointegration and the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry.

Dr. Prestipino received his D.D.S. degree from the University of Maryland School of Dentistry and his post-doctoral certificate in Prosthodontics at New York University School of Dentistry. He had held a position as an Assistant Clinical Professor at New York University and was Associate Professor in the Department of Prosthodontics at the University of Maryland School O Dentistry. Dr. Prestipino has lectured nationally and internationally on esthetic and implant dentistry and actively contributes to postgraduate education. He has also developed and patented more than 7 patents in Dentistry.
His early involvement with aesthetic implant dentistry has led to the development of several implant components. He co-developed the first all-ceramic dental implant abutment and obtained the FDA 510(K) Clearance, upon which all ceramic abutments are permitted to be marketed within the USA.
He has several publications on different topics in Dentistry. Dr. Prestipino is a Fellow of the Greater New York Academy of Prosthodontics, the Academy of Osseointegration, a member of The American College of Prosthodontists, The American Dental Association, and several Dental Societies in the State of Maryland.
Abstract:The invention includes apparatuses and methods for implanting dental implants in a patients mouth that ensure that the implants are in the proper rotational position and depth. In one aspect, the invention includes a surgical guide with a guide tube having an indexing mechanism that mates with a corresponding indexing mechanism on a flange of an implant mount when the mount is used to screw an implant into a patients mouth. This mating signals that the dental implant is in the proper rotational position and depth.
Abstract:A bone-embedded implant fixture is interfaced with an aluminum oxide abutment post through which a variety of different arrangements and types of prosthesis superstructures may be supported, including those having separate coping portions surface bonded to the abutment post. An access bore in the abutment post accommodates threaded insertion of a screw fastener carrying a deformable washer to hold the dental implant assembled and seal the gum tissue region into which the abutment post is fitted.
Abstract: Dental prosthetics, including implants, crowns, and bridges, made from nanophase materials. The nanophase materials are generally manufactured by evaporating a metal or other solid substrate by heating it to a temperature at or above its boiling point in a vacuum to form a vapor. The vapor is then condensed back to a solid state through contact with cold gas. In the first method, the nanophase material is heated until it is in a fluid state, then it is poured into a mold and cooled to form all or part of a dental prosthetic. In a second method, the nanophase material is placed into the mold in a powdered form, then heated so that the grains form a solid mass. Nanophase crowns and bridges should generally be formed in one piece, but the upper surface of a nanophase prosthetic will usually be covered with porcelain or another non-nanophase material.
