Dr. Kalra enjoys an international reputation in orthodontics. He has invented several orthodontic appliances that are used around the world. He is regularly invited to lecture to orthodontists around the world on techniques he has developed, and given more than 80 llectures and courses in 25 countries, including the prestigious annual meetings of the American Association of Orthodontists.
Dr. Kalra has published numerous articles on orthodontic treatment in leading international journals. He is a consultant to several orthodontic manufacturing companies, as well as leading scientific journals.
Dr. Kalra has been teaching orthodontics for 30 years. He is a clinical associate professor at the University of Pittsburgh, where he teaches graduate orthodontic residents and is also involved in research. He has previously taught at the University of Connecticut and Case Western University. He has won several awards, including 'Best Clinical Instructor and 'Outstanding Instrutor'
Dr. Kalra is a member of the prestigious Angle Society of Orthodontists. Membership is by invitation only. Only the top leaders in the field of orthodontics from around the world are invited to join after a rigorous appraisal of their credentials and an examination, including the presentation of results of patient treatments. Dr. Kalra is the only member in the Youngstown/Boardman/Salem area, and only five orthodontists from the state of Ohio have been invited to join the Angle Society.
Dr. Kalra regularly attends continuing education courses to stay current with the latest knowledge and technology, in order to provide the best possible care for his patients. He is active in several organizations:
Dr. Kalra and his wife Nanette have been married for 21 years and have two children, Anna and Christopher, and a dog named Dosa. Outside of the office, Dr. Kalra loves to spend time with his family, and enjoys traveling, playing golf, fishing, and hiking. He also enjoys photography and painting.
Dr. Kalra is actively involved in the Austintown, Salem and neighboring Ohio communities. He sponsors numerous sports teams and supports several youth organizations, as well as several other activities in the area schools and communities.
We have an excellent staff. All members of our team are highly trained and experienced in their jobs, and we all work as a close-knit team. There is a relaxed atmosphere in the office and our staff members are all very polite, friendly, helpful, and upbeat, yet very professional. Patients enjoy coming to our office because of the comfortable, happy environment created by our team.
Dr. Varun Kalra has more than30 years of experience in state-of-the-art orthodontics. His extensive education, memberships, teaching positions, and lecturing make him uniquely qualified to tend to his patients needs.

10/10 HANDS DOWN AMAZING! Dr. Kalra and his team were phenomenal from start to Finnish! As an adult going through treatment I was a little more nervous going through. The staff and dr. Kalra made me feel so comfortable and reassured me about all of my treatment. They always made me feel comfortable and treated me with respect. I couldn't have had a better experience. Every step of the process was well explained and I felt so comfortable and was never worried about my care. My smile looks amazing. I truly could have cried looking at myself in the mirror. Although my changes might not have been outrageous, Dr. Kalra still made SUCH a difference in my life. Thank you so much. Lastly for the staff who were so very kind and helpful every appointment. Keep doing your very best. Thank you so so so so very much. I'm forever thankful for such an amazing experience.

Dr. Kalra and his staff are absolutely amazing. They all go above and beyond and make you feel so welcomed every time you step foot into their office. I would absolutely recommend him! I couldn't be happier with the new smile he has given me!

Dr Kalra and his team are amazing! I had braces put on at 30 years old, and taken off at 15 months and 5 days TODAY! My smile looks great and feels comfortable and healthy. Everyone in the office is friendly and helpful- they always take the time to answer questions and learn about you. Happy to be a patient here!
