Dr. Tony K. Yoon is originally from San Francisco, California. He received his bachelors degree (B.S. Biochemistry)from the University of California at San Diego and hisdental degree (D.D.S.) from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, California. Dr. Yoon then served eight total years as a general dentist in the US Army where healso completed a 1 year Advanced Education in General DentistryResidency (AEGD) in that time. After his honorable discharge from active duty, Dr. Yoon went on tocompletehis endodontic residency at Tufts University in Boston, Massachusetts. Dr. Yoon is a member of the American Association of Endodontists, American Dental Association andMaryland State Dental Association.
When not at the office, Dr. Yoon, enjoys spending time with his family: his wife Alexis and two children 8 year old Jianna and 6 year old Noah. He is an avid follower of all major sports, loves the sun and any outdoor activities, and is willing to try various foods or dine 'the next best restaurant.'
Dr. Loken M. Patel grew up in Central New York, where he received his bachelor's degree (B.S.) in molecular biology from Colgate University. He then completed his Doctorate of Dental Medicine (D.M.D) from the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Patel pursued an additional year in post graduate training with the US Army in their Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) program. As an Army Captain, he was stationed in Fort Carson, Colorado;Yongsan, South Korea; and Ft. Myer, Virginia. Dr. Patel was honorably discharged from the US Army in the rank of Major. Dr. Patel completed his post doctorate in Endodontics at Rutgers University.
Dr. Patel is a member of the American Association of Endodontists, American Dental Association, Virginia Dental Assocation and the Northern Virginian Dental Society. Heis a Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics and has been in practice for over 13years. He loves spending time with his wife and daughter when not at the office.

Dr. Yoon is THEE best. I am not a fan at all of anything dental-period. However coming to Dr. Yoon is a walk in the park for your root canal. His entire process is excellent, and the best part is that it is PAINFREE! Literally nothing at all! You wouldn't even know he was doing something if you didnt hear the drill. If you need a root canal you have to come here, or dont and feel the pain your choice.lol

I highly recommend Dr Yoon. I had an emergency root canal and the office managed to fit me in to their schedule last minute. The office is welcoming, the staff is attentive and kind. I felt very safe in their care. I also appreciate Dr Yoon checking in on me hours after the procedure to make sure I was okay. For an awful situation - Dr Yoon and his staff were amazing.

Dr. Yoon performed my first root canal yesterday morning. I have some pretty strong anxiety about going to any type of dentist, not other doctors for whatever reason, just dentists, but Dr. Yoon and his staff were great with a big baby like me. Was completely numb, felt no pain throughout the process, and only needed to take Advil one time when I got home. If you have anxiety about getting a root canal I'd definitely recommend this doctor.

I went to this practice to have a root canal. I have a very difficult mouth to work on and am very difficult to know. I work with doctor Patel and could not give him higher praise. His bedside manner was outstanding and his services were very professional and well done I felt taken care of the whole time and would highly recommend him and his team to anyone who needs additional dental work Period

Dr. Patel was excellent. I was very happy to see how professional and transparent he and the rest of the staff were. I let them know I have a little bit of anxiety and therefore got a little nervous. They always made sure I knew what was being done, and they constantly checked on how I was doing.

Dr Yoon did a root canal on my son yesterday. He had no pain or problem during and after procedure. No need for pain Medication after procedure. His office and staff were superb and clean . I recommend him to anyone

Ok, the need for a 2nd root canal pretty much blows, so I was already prepping for the the worst again (painful injections, 2-3 days of being sore around the tooth and with the jaw in general). I am not a fan in any way shape or form of going to the dentist. Excel will change your opinion. Starting off with the experience on the phone and with front desk once you arrive. They are an extremely caring and courteous staff. It continues to get even better with the very friendly and highly skilled Dr. Patel and assistant HIlary. Heck even the checkout at the end with Melissa was a good experience. Obviously I would prefer not to have to do this again, but if I do I am 100% going back to Excel Dental Specialties, no question. I woke up the next morning with zero pain or soreness. Incredible !

Did not feel a single thing during my root canal. Very very minimal discomfort in the 48 hours to follow. Staff was wonderful and made me feel at ease.

Fantastic office! The staff was extremely accommodating and understanding. My daughter needed an emergency root canal done. Not only were they able to fit her in sooner they were extremely professional knowing her health conditions. I appreciate the fantastic work done and highly recommend.
