Dr. Whited has practiced orthodontics for more than 25 years and has practiced exclusively in Collierville since 2000. A long-time resident of Collierville, he and his wife, Rita, have two grown daughters, and four grandchildren.
Dr. Whited has served as president of both the Memphis and Tennessee Association of Orthodontists. He has also served as an assistant professor at the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry, where he earned both his dental and orthodontic degrees. He is board certified by the American Board of Orthodontics.
The mission of Dr. Whited's practice is excellence in orthodontic care combined with a friendly, caring office environment. He has been blessed with a staff who shares this vision and whose greatest joy is helping to develop happy smiling faces.

Orthodontic appliances are made of metal, ceramic, or plastic. They may be removable or they may be brackets bonded to the teeth. By placing a constant, gentle force in a carefully controlled direction, braces slowly move teeth to the proper position.
Gone are the days when a metal band with a bracket was placed around each tooth. You can now choose clear or metal brackets and, in some cases, the color of your appliance. Wires are far less noticeable, and the latest materials are designed to move teeth faster with more comfort. Today, any age is a great age to wear braces!
Treatment time varies and can last between one and three years, depending on several factors including age, treatment method, and how minor or severe your case is. A big factor in a successful treatment is you! The more involved and diligent you are, the more efficient your treatment will be. For children, receiving interceptive or early treatment can also help provide a quicker treatment time.

Grateful for the patience this company has given me! We had a crazy month this month and I'm a month away from treatment! Julie was very kind and patient with me and settled a situation very very well. I love dr whited so much! I was behind on bottom trays and he never made me feel bad for it and said no biggie let's catch you up! By far one of my favorite ortho practices! Can't wait to finish treatment next month with them! Well worth it to drive the 25 minutes I was debating to use them!

Best team in the world, they greet you with a smile, and their spirits are extremely high, they check on you, and Dr. Whiten is just a gentle humble spirit. And I got nothing but the best treatment plan care from him/them! I would recommend this office to anyone that is look for an amazing orthodontist and team. I'll be back to get my braces (I'm 26 yes old) and I can't wait for my next greetings with them! Also Ms. Georgia is the best hands down! Shout out to you Ms. G!!

Total class act. He emergency covered for our regular orthodontist on zero notice first thing on like a Tuesday for a couple of broken brackets. Everybody there was great, got us right back and out in like 20 minutes. Highly recommended.

I rarely give a company 5 stars...but this isn't just a company. Dr. Tommy Whited and his staff have been family to me since I was 7 years old. "Miracle work" doesn't come close to being able to describe and justify how they transformed my mouth in just 3 years. He still sees me regularly (18 years later) because he and his amazing team are THAT dedicated to their clients. Thank you Dr. Whited and all of you amazing ladies for always taking care of me.

We love Dr. Whited and the office staff. Orthodontic work is expensive, even with the best of insurances. Not only is it a financial commitment, but it also takes time and dedication to see results. Who wants to take on something like that with no guarantee that you will see changes? I certainly don't, but we came up with a comprehensive plan with Dr. Whited that addresses all of the issues my son has and the best course of action to treat them. We found Dr. Whited and his staff to be very knowledgeable and up-to-date with the latest techniques. I love how efficient the office runs: we are always in and out quickly, able to get through to a real person in the event of an emergency, and able to resolve billing questions with just a phone call. My son has no problem with caring for his braces using the tools and instructions given in the office and I know that I am investing in his self-esteem for the future. I would recommend Dr. Whited's office to anyone!
