Dr. Shields is passionate about making Jacksonville smile! Born and raised in the area, she returned to her hometown to open her dental practice. Dr. Shields holds a Bachelors degree in Microbiology and Cell Science from the University of Florida where she also minored in Dance. She continued her studies in Gainesville at the University of Florida College of Dentistry where she graduated at the head of her class.
Dr. Shields husband, Don, is a United States Army veteran who served in Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan. She is a proud mommy of two beautiful children, Donnie and Brooklynn, that keep her busy and full of joy. Dr. Shields is very active in her church. She enjoys volunteering weekly and seeing God change lives. Her favorite Bible verse is Trust in the Lord with all yourheart,and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths. Proverbs 3:5-6.
Every team member at Smiles by Shields understands that oral health is part of overall health and wellness. You just cant have one without the other. We want your dental experience to be relaxed, comfortable, and stress-free. Were happy to meet you and honored to make you smile!

My family absolutely loves Dr. Shields and her entire staff. We've never had a bad experience and have always been treated extraordinarily well. Not only are we treated well, but the staff cares about our wellness and ensures safety and care with every visit. We've had her correct a mistake from a conventional dentist (oh gosh - please avoid conventional dentists), and she is current in the process of removing my toxic amalgam fillings. Would recommend Dr. Shields office to anyone looking for any dental needs.

Dr. Shields and her team are Amazing, professional, excellent results and have stellar bedside manners. I have a complex case from another dentist's root canal mistake. I never thought I'd be able to find a dentist who takes a totally different approach and believes our teeth play a huge role in our overall health. I have a long journey ahead to repair the damage and feel so blessed and grateful that Dr. Shields is by my side through this.

The staff is really friendly!! I'm not a fan of the dentist, but they put me at ease. Dr. Shields, was very gentle and considerate as she fixed my tooth. I will definitely make an appt in the future for a cleaning, because I appreciated the respect that was given to me, even with my extreme anxiety of dentists.

I have dentist nerves but was encouraged by many others to go see Dr Shields. I'm SO glad I did. Every employee I encountered was kind and friendly and made me so comfortable. It was truly a great experience.

She is listed as holistic dentist but insists on x-rays. I am 72 years old and need a teeth cleaning. I can't get one here unless I have x-rays. The other two holistic doctors I went to only did x-rays if absolutely necessary. I know x-rays are a lot more money not sure if that's the reason. I was told I would have to have x-rays every year as long as I was a patient. Don't understand I understand if somethings wrong but just to do them to do them. Unfortunately she's not the only one.

Awesome experience. Going to the dentist sometimes brings on a bit of anxiety. They always take the time to explain everything and make sure I am comfortable. From the front desk, insurance, hygienist to the doctor these are an amazing group of people.
