Panorama Valley Obstetrics and Gynecology was founded in 1989 by Drs. Grove, Woodworth, and Holmsten to accommodate the healthcare needs of women in the Penfield area. Under their direction, they created a practice widely recognized for offering compassionate, attentive, and comprehensive high quality healthcare services to their patients.
At the same time, they moved forward with a plan for the practices future. Over the years the practice expanded in size, added skilled OB/GYN physicians, changed locations for easier patient access and convenience, and changed the practices name to Penfield Obstetrics and Gynecology. Today, the physicians at Penfield Obstetrics and Gynecology continue the tradition of providing patients with expert healthcare in a compassionate and attentive atmosphere.
Beyond pregnancy-and-childbirth related procedures, the practices capabilities for gynecologic procedures has surpassed traditional open surgery and conventional laparoscopy to include the use of robotic surgical equipment (da Vinci) that interfaces with the surgeons. Penfield OB/GYNs partners, Dr. Laroia, Dr. Piquon, and Dr. Klimek, immediately recognized that in the hands of experienced and highly trained surgeons, robotic surgery offers patients a vastly improved experience.
They introduced robotic GYN surgery at Rochester General Hospital and were among the first in upstate New York to perform robotic GYN procedures. The doctors have also trained other surgeons in robotic surgery due to their renowned level of skill and expertise.

Dr. Laroia, a very experienced obstetrician and gynecologist, takes a special interest in Urogynecology and Pelvic Reconstructive Surgery. He and his partners are pioneers in introducing Robotic Gynecological Surgery in upstate New York.
Dr. Piquion has an excellent academic and clinical background in Obstetrics and Gynecology. After graduation from the University of Virginia she completed a Masters in Public Health at George Washington University with a focus on maternal and child health.
Her background includes pregnancy research at the National Institute of Health. These studies in public health have given her an added understanding of prevention strategies, as well as, curative approaches to conditions affecting patients. Dr. Piquion has been in private practice since 2002, where she cares for female patients from their early teens through postmenopause. A special interest of Dr. Piquions is treatment for incontinence. She is very experienced with laparoscopic and robotic surgery. She is among the first in upstate New York to perform robotic hysterectomies. She provides gynecologic services which include advanced laparsoscopy robot-assisted, laparoscopic hysterectomy and myomectomy (fibroid removal), anti-incontinence, as well as,other gynecologic surgeries. Dr. Piquion is also certified in obstetric and gynecologic ultrasound.
Status as an accredited surgeon mean that Dr. Johann Piquion has met nationally recognized standards. Surgeons and facilities seeking accreditation by SRC undergo an extensive self-assessment.
