Helping people look better, feel better, and be healthier is why Dr. Susan Plourde decided to become a dentist over 30 years ago. This desire to improve the quality of life of those around her reflects in all aspects of her practice, as Dr. Plourde and her team have a passion to provide great service in a comfortable environment. Using state-of-the-art technology and a gentle touch, Dr. Plourde helps patients of all ages achieve the beautiful smile they want and the oral health they deserve.
A native of the Agawam community, Dr. Plourde attended Springfield College for her undergraduate education, earning a Bachelor of Science degree. She continued on to Tufts University School of Dental Medicine where she received her Doctorate of Dental Medicine.
Since completing her formal education, Dr. Plourde continues to advance her knowledge and training in the ever-changing field of dentistry. She has completed courses through the L.D. Pankey Institute for Advanced Dental Education in periodontics and removable prosthodontics, as well as through the Millbrook Study Club. She is a certified laser dentist and LANAP practitioner. As it is her goal to always provide the highest quality of care to her patients, Dr. Plourde understands the vital importance of staying current in dental technology.
Dr. Plourde is dedicated to all the members of her community, especially the furry four-legged ones. She is the founder and President of Feline Friends, Inc., a nonprofit organization that serves as a sanctuary of last resort, rescuing, rehabilitating, and finding forever homes for cats. She is also a rabid recycler and tree hugger, vegan, and animal welfare activist.
I help ensure my patients achieve and maintain ideal oral health by providing gentle yet thorough cleanings, periodontal maintenance, and preventive education regarding tooth decay and gum disease. Joining Agawam Dental Associates in 2002, I have over 24 years of experience in the dental field. Over the years, Ive gotten to know so many interesting people, and each day brings something new and exciting! Working with Dr. Plourde has been a wonderful experience. She follows a comprehensive approach to care and is committed to staying on the cutting-edge of technology.
When Im not in the office, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, skiing, walking, gardening, cooking, and entertaining. I have also taught water fitness class at Fitness First for over ten years. To keep me company at home, I have a great little cat named Hope.
As one of Dr. Plourdes hygienists, I help our patients achieve good oral health through regular cleanings and exams, as well as by providing education on effective home care. I began my career in dentistry in 1973 and was happy to join the Agawam Dental Associates team in 1990. I love the interactions I have with each patient I meet and feel so fortunate to work with an amazing dentist who shares my values of patient care.
As Dr. Plourdes dental assistant, I work alongside her with all aspects of patient care. Joining this team in 2003, I have over 23 years of experience in making patients as comfortable as possible while providing them with outstanding customer service. I truly enjoy working with our patients and taking care of their individual needs.

I am very happy with the work Dr. Plourde and her staff have done on my teeth. I recently relocated to the area, and did some extensive research on local dentistry before making the decision to schedule an appointment. Having avoided going to the dentist for some necessary repairs and maintenance I was pleasantly surprised at how efficiently and painless the overall treatment was. Agawam Dental is a very friendly environment with an incredibly helpful staff that takes pride in transparency and teaching the ins and outs of oral care. I would recommend Susan and Robin to anyone seeking a good honest and caring Dentist.

I have been a patient of Dr. Susan Plourde for 30 years! I used to hate going to the dentist, but the last 30 years have been fine for me. It's painless and they do good work on cleanings and fillings and stuff. My husband used to have such a phobia of going to the dentist, he used to get sick before his appointment. Now, he has no problem when going to Agawam Dental, they are great.

I always feel very comfortable during my appointments at Agawam Dental Associates. Dr. Plourde has been great, I rarely have to wait to be seen for my appointments it is a very easy process which is awesome.

Had an emergency, Agawam Dental was on the ball. I called, they got me in that day and took care of me. They are always on time, get you right in with the doctor. I highly recommend them.

The reception area is quiet, no telephones ringing or other people hearing your information because the office area is in a separate area. Music played is smoothing and calming. When I went to Dr. Plourde practice for the 1st time I had a consult which was really great as to my opinions about going to a dentist, my treatments and what my long term wellness plan was. All of the staff is very friendly and well educated. You not a number to this practice and you get individualized attention. If they don't have the answers, they will tell you and get back to you. I used to be afraid to go to the dentist for just a exam and cleaning and now I'm now longer afraid and anxious.
