Dr. Scheffel completed his undergrad at PSU in 1982 and moved on to OHSU to complete his doctorate of dentistry in 1986. He too was elected membership into Omicron Kappa Upsilon by the OHSU Honorary Dental Society. Upon graduation from dental school Dr.Scheffel opened the first ever Faculty Practice at OHSU. While also teaching there, he earned the Deans Award for Faculty Achievement from the department of operative dentistry and is still, to this day, very much admired by the dental community. He left the Faculty Practice in 1996 to join Dr. Roger Lawrence in private practice and continues to treat patients in Beaverton. Dr. Scheffels passion and expertise is restoration of the entire mouth, with focus on multi implant prosthetics. He enjoys bow hunting, exercising, and white water rafting.
Dr. Lawrence graduated Magna Cum Laude from Biola University in 1982 and then moved on to OHSU to complete his doctorate of dentistry in 1986. Upon graduation, he decided to further his experience by accepting a dental residency at Denver General Hospital until 1987. His hard work over this period of time elected him memberships to Delta Epsilon Chi from Biola Honor Society and Omicron Kappa Upsilon by the OHSU Honorary Dental Society. He has been in private practice since 1987 and joined Dr. Steve Scheffel in 1996 where they currently practice together in Beaverton. Dr. Lawrences character and ethics have produced for him a reputation that is revered by his peers. Aside from his love of dentistry, he enjoys backpacking, woodworking, spending time with his wife Joanna and their three grown children, and tending to his Christmas tree farm.
Wendy has been with our practice since early 2015. However, she isnt a stranger to the dental field. After starting out as a dental assistant in 1986, she found her calling to work in the front office. Over the years she has worked all aspects of the administrative side to dentistry. Wendy will usually be the one to greet you and is enjoying getting to know everyone. She feels blessed to work with such dedicated and compassionate people. She enjoys time with friends and family, her three cats, crafting and reading.
Holly joined our practice in 2013 after completing her Bachelors Degree in Public Health from Oregon State University. She has enjoyed expanding her dental knowledge, as well as getting to know our wonderful patients. Holly is grateful to work with such a fantastic staff who exhibit excellence and integrity every day. When not thinking about teeth and dental insurance, Holly loves spending time with her family and friends, especially if that includes a nice cup of coffee. She also enjoys yoga, walks, and getting lost in a good book.
Rose enjoys working for dentists who are not only excellent in their field, but also truly care about their patients health. Rose graduated with a B.A. in Human Services from the University of Oregon in 1992. After taking time off to stay at home to homeschool her four children, she started bookkeeping in 2010. She has kept books for three (and now four) different companies and multiple clients. She has been married for 30 years and enjoys art, language, and being involved at her church.
Rachel has been with the practice since 1991 and has been a chairside assistant to Dr. Lawrence for this time. She feels very fortunate to have had the opportunity to assist one doctor for so long and develop great relationships with the patients. Her mission is threefold: serve patients, be available, and keep the doctor on time! Rachel enjoys spending time with her husband, Brett, their two sons, Cody and Gunnar, knitting, and working on never-ending home improvement projects.
Vickie joined our practice in 2019. She began dental assisting in 1999 but took a few years off to work with a hospice agency and then a cataract surgery clinic. She is grateful to have the opportunity to work alongside this unique team of professionals who make patient comfort and quality care a top priority. Vickie enjoys caring for our patients, helping them feel at ease with their dental procedures. In her spare time, she likes to go for walks and bike rides; garden with her hydroponic tower garden; shop with her daughters; and make healthy meals. She also enjoys time with her grand-dog, Buck.
For over ten years, Shelly has been working alongside Dr. Scheffel as a dental assistant. After staying home with her children for 12 years, she decided to go back to school to learn something new and exciting. She graduated in 2010 and immediately started in our office at that time. She loves learning new techniques and is excited about meeting all of our patients and helping them with their dental needs. We love her constant happy personality, as do our patients. When not working, Shelly enjoys being home with her husband, two sons, a dog, a cat, and four chickens.
Shideh received her dental assisting certificate in 1991 right after she moved here from Tehran, Iran. Working with Dr. Scheffel at OHSU was her first job as a dental assistant. While working full time she pursued her dream job and received her Masters Degree in teaching. After 22 years of working part time at the dental school and part time with us, she is happy that she chose to stay in the health care industry. She is inspired by people who help others for a living. She enjoys spending time with family, traveling, practicing yoga, and enjoys cooking for family and friends.
Linda graduated from Portland Community College in 1983. We have had the privilege of having Linda as one of our hygienists since July of 1987, over 30 years. Her compassion, gentle touch, and caring personality continually put her patients at ease. You will never see Linda without a smile on her face. She loves spending time with her family and dog (Lillie) at the beach, mountains, or just in her own backyard.
Barbara has been with our practice since August 2015. She worked as a dental assistant for over 15 years before going back to school for dental hygiene. She graduated from Portland Community College and was the recipient of the Golden Scaler Award which honors the outstanding achievements of dental hygiene students. Barbara has a passion for dentistry and promoting health with a gentle, compassionate approach. She has joined a Periodontal Study Club, as she enjoys learning and keeping up with current techniques. For leisure, she enjoys the outdoors, including biking, hiking, and walking the dogs. Barbara and her husband recently welcomed their first child and are enjoying the new adventure that this brings.
Abby is a Portland Community College hygiene graduate with a passion for oral health. She loves working with patients and providing gentle and quality care. After attending college in Southern California, Abby and her husband lived in Virginia for two years before heading back to the PNW to settle down. She enjoys going on walks, spending time with family, and reading a good book.
Meredith graduated with a bachelors degree from Oregon State University in 2008 with an emphasis in health research. She later found her passion in dentistry and graduated with honors from Portland Community College in 2012. Her gentle but thorough touch has been a great asset to our patients. On Merediths time off, you will find her camping, hiking, and enjoying the outdoors with her husband.
Rachel was trained as a hygienist through Mt. Hood Community College, where she graduated with honors in 2016. She also studied biology at Trinity Western University in Canada. Her interest in dentistry started as a teen when a pediatric dentist who worked with special needs kids hired her as a sterilization tech. Her strong clinical background, thoroughness, gentleness, and great people skills make her such an asset to our practice. She and her husband are native Oregonians and enjoy being involved at their church. They have three kids who are active in sports. Rachels hobbies include camping, fishing, horseback riding, snow skiing, and water skiing.
Marcy brings 30 years dental hygiene experience to our office. She enjoys getting to know her patients. Her soft touch helps them feel comfortable and at ease in the dental chair. Marcy grew up in Northeast Portland and graduated from Portland Community College. It has been exciting for her to witness the many advances in dentistry through the years. Marcy lives in Hillsboro with her husband of nearly 36 years and her son. She is an animal lover, so her Border Collie named Gabby is also a beloved family member. Marcy enjoys gardening, walking the dog, being involved in her church, visiting with friends and generally being anywhere outdoors in our beautiful Pacific Northwest.
