Grand Dental was founded by Dr. Steve Napier and Dr. Mark Kaschube, We were two young doctors who enjoyed working hard and having fun together' Dr. Steve recalls. Dr. Steve wanted to build a dental office that focused on dentistry with integrity and strong commitment to the community. After 32 years of practice, Grand Dental has proven to be authentically tied to the communities it serves. In the early days, Dr. Steve coached and was a board member for the Leyden Bears Football program. Dentists have continued this tradition by coaching little league baseball and hockey teams. Our own dentals teams also regularly volunteer at community service organizations and events. Dr. Steve feels that one of the best parts of practicing dentistry is seeing generations of families. He loves finding himself in the special position of treating children as they grow into adults and then see their children as patients. In fact, one of our current Grand Dental doctors began as a patient of Dr. Steve's when she was only 3 years old. How cool is that!
Born in Mount Prospect, Dr. Steve chose to stay in Illinois for his higher education. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and his Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
Dr. Steve and his wife have 3 daughters who are now in high school and college. He is an accomplished guitar player and has played at the House of Blues in Chicago and the infamous Whiskey a Go-Go in West Hollywood, California. Over the years hes had the honor to play with Kevin Cronin and Dave Amato of REO Speedwagon, Foreigner, Night Ranger, Jim Peterik of Survivor and the Ides of March, and Rich Redmond, Jason Aldeans drummer!
Dr. Nierzwicki, or Dr. Joe as he is known to his patients, has been with Grand Dental Franklin Park for his entire 10-year career. He believes the most fulfilling aspect of being a dentist is getting to work alongside a team he loves, in his own community.
Dr. Joe grew up with family in the healthcare field and experienced firsthand the value of providing care to the community in which you live. He loves finding solutions to dental problems to help patients live a life free from dental pain and anxiety.
Dr. Joe is a Chicago native, and grew up minutes away from Grand Dental! He completed his undergraduate degree at Chicagos Loyola University. After, he travelled to Omaha, NE to attend the Creighton University School of Dentistry. He received his Doctor of Dental Surgery 2010 and was inducted into Omicron Kappa Upsilon, the national dental honor society. He returned to Chicago to practice dentistry near home.
He has completed several continuing education courses, including ones focused on composite restorations, crown and bridgework, endodontics, dental implant restorations, and sleep apnea therapy. He is also currently a member of the American Dental Association, Illinois State Dental Society, and Chicago Dental Society.
Dr. Joe enjoys rooting for his favorite Chicago sports teams; the Bears, Bulls, and White Sox. He stays active by running along the lakefront and participating in local racing events; he has even completed the Chicago Marathons three times! Recently engaged, Dr. Joe also loves cooking and spending time in the kitchen with his fianc.
Dr. Svjetlica, known as Dr. Lilly, has 20 years of dental experience, starting her dental career in Serbia. When you visit Dr. Lilly, you can expect more than great dentistry, Dr. Lilly keeps her patients and the Franklin Park staff entertained with singing and jokes.
Dr. Lilly sees patients of all ages but has a sincere passion for working with children. As a child, Dr. Lilly watched her older sister struggle through negative dental experiences and wished she could ease her discomfort. Dr. Lilly learned the importance of having a dental provider that places an emphasis on communication and building trust, even with very young patients.
Originally from Novi Grad, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dr. Svjetlica earned her a dental degree from the Medical University of Nis College of Dentistry in Serbia. After moving to the United States, she graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry with her Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry.
Over the decades, she has diligently pursued continuing education, particularly focusing on Invisalign and implant dentistry. Today, she is a member of multiple professional organizations including the American Dental Association, the Illinois State Dental Society, Academy of General Dentistry, and Seattle Study Club.
