Dr. Stephen Johansen was born and raised in Salt Lake City. After graduating from Hillcrest High School he attended Brigham Young University and received his Bachelors ' of Science Degree in Biology. He then attended Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska and was awarded the degree of Doctor of Dental Surgery. He also received the 'Dr. Ridder Operative Award' which is given for excellence in Operative Dentistry.
Dr. Johansen has a private practice in Sandy, Utah. Since graduating in 2000 Dr. Johansen has completed numerous continuing education programs on all aspects of dental care.By pursuing this training, Dr. Johansen has developed the clinical skills necessary for treating simple to very complex dental problems.
Dr. Johansen provides dental care in a slow paced, relaxed fashion. Generally only one patient is treated at a time so that his undivided attention can be given. Modern, quality oriented dentistry takes time and a meticulous approach, using the best in dental technology, optics, materials and labs.Dr. Johansen hopes that this practice style will attract patients that appreciate and share his philosophy.

My experience with Dr. Johansen and the staff there was amazing! They were able to turn a traumatic experience I had with my teeth into a very comfortable experience! I felt very safe a reassured. After a bad skating accident I thought my front teeth would be ugly and ruined forever, however thanks to Dr. Johansen not only are my teeth healthy but they look great! No one ever notices the work that's been done on them! Not to mention he was the first dentist to respond to my emergency at 12:30am! He worked singlehanded on my teeth until past 2:30am and still did an amazing job! A million thank you's to Stephen and his staff!

Dr. Stephen Johansen is the best dentist I have been treated by. I had a crown on a tooth that broke, he replaced it with a new crown that was absolutely natural looking and felt amazing, just as though it was always there. He also did other work I needed done. He is so gentle and his work is beautiful. The staff in his office are super friendly and on top of things. I had porcelain crowns on my four front teeth, they match my other teeth perfectly. I highly recommend Dr. Johansen to all my family and friends.

I have the worst dental anxiety and this dentist office is my dream. I haven't had a cavity since starting to go to this dentist. My teeth have never looked better or been healthier.

The entire staff is great. I was looking for a dentist for an emergency fix and decided to give Dr Johansen a shot because of all the great reviews. Glad I did. I really like everyone that works there and I'm super happy with the work I've had done. Update 3/16/20: It's been over 4 years and I still go to Dr Johansen, best dentist I've ever been to and would recommend to anybody looking for a Dentist.

Dr Johansen responded promptly when a family member needed emergency dental evaluation, and not only assessed the problem but went ahead and completed needed the treatment on a Sunday! This is above and beyond what most other dental clinics offer. The timely intervention was very much appreciated!
