you be the judge...my dentist noticed that I have a root canal abscessing because it wasn't done correctly so he recommended a specialist to retreat the tooth which incidentally, was the same oral surgeon who performed the root canal 3 years prior, Dr. Bowie. When I called the office to schedule the appointment, I found out that retreating a tooth is more than $1500, more money than having it done initially. So I mentioned 'shouldn't the doctor assume some responsibility being he is a specialist?' The secretary replied 'well its like heart surgery, nothing is guaranteed.' Interesting reply, they choose to compare a root canal to having heart surgery. Regardless, she went on to add 'you should come in for a consultation first and that will cost $300' which in itself doesn't make any sense, the original consultation with my regular dentist showed it is abscessing. So let me see if I understand this...your specialist dentist messed up a root canal that 3 years later you want me to pay extra to have retreated and in addition pay a $300 consultation fee?? What bothers me the most about the experience is the utter lack of attentiveness and compassion and no personal accountability. This is not a slam on Dr Bowie, I had an extraction not long ago that he handled without incident and I understand sometimes a procedure may have complications. But the root canal issue is of itself poorly handled and I am highly disappointed they can behave in such a callous and insensitive manner. If you are going work under the banner of being a specialist, then your results should be held to a higher standard

Dr. Bowie is a great oral surgeon and I highly recommend him. Both of my parents had minor oral surgery procedures done by Dr. Bowie and were very happy, so when I needed a tooth implant I chose him. I was very impressed by the efficiency, cleanliness, and speed of the procedure. Dr. Bowie is a master at his craft, and his staff is professional and compassionate. Also they have good music in the lobby and free wi-fi.

I went to him a long time ago and I enjoyed it. I didn't even have pain when I had tooth extracted. He even called later to check up on me!
