Dr. Armstrong has been in Waco since 1971. After graduating from dental school, he had the joy and privilege to make friends here, and he now treats them as patients to this very day, almost 50 years later. He especially enjoys the restorative aspect of dentistry, helping people find their confidence and transform their lives. His hobbies outside of practicing dentistry include golf, racquetball, volunteering for Mission Waco and working as a Cub Scout master.

Dr. Endsley is a third-generation Wacoian and lives on a ranch here with his wife and five children. When he isnt working, he is taking care of his property and all his animals. One of his favorite ways to give back is through his medical mission work with his church. He has traveled all over the world to provide dentistry to those in need in unique places. Dr. Endsley knew from the young age of 4 that he wanted to be a dentist. In fact, it runs in his family. His uncle is also a dentist along with his two cousins. Waco is home to Dr. Endsley and always will be. After going away to college, he came back as soon as he could because he missed the town and the people so much and couldnt wait to raise his family right here where he grew up.

Dr. Parva Patel was born in India and attended dental school there and in the United States. Dr. Patel received his DDS degree from the University of Southern California in 2017. Right after graduation, he moved to Texas. Before joining our Legends Dental team, he worked in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Dr. Patel believes that the most expensive this in the world is not gold or diamonds; it's trust. Why? Because it's always in huge demand but is often in short supply. As a result, Dr. Patel believes in providing comprehensive care and practicing honest dentistry, keeping the goal of treatment to what the patient needs. He enjoys all aspects of dentistry, especially the surgical aspect, such as dental implants, surgical extraction or bone grafting! Dr. Patel is married and loves to cook, read history books, spend time with his wife and play chess in his free time.

Many years ago, the human jaw was much bigger than it is in modern-day humans, and it could easily accommodate these extra teeth. With a reduction in human jaw size, these molars have become highly prone to impaction, or not enough room to erupt through the jaw.

Most adults will have all four wisdom teeth but some may only have three. Increasingly, researchers are finding that wisdom teeth are congenitally absent (people are now born without them) in more individuals than ever before, making wisdom teeth a vestigial feature of the body.

The test was a 'whole-mouth identification' assessment, which incorporated five different concentrations of sucrose, sodium chloride, citric acid and caffeine. Each concentrated solution was sipped, swished in the mouth and then spit out.

Individuals in the extraction group had better taste results in each of the four categories, suggesting that people who had their wisdom teeth extracted had a 3 to 10 percent improvement in their ability to taste.

There are two possibilities for this. One is the fact that wisdom teeth extraction causes damage to the nerves that are connected to the taste buds at the front of the mouth, which can, in turn, affect the rear of the mouth and cause increased whole-mouth tooth sensitivity. The second possibility is that hypersensitivity can develop and improve after peripheral nerve injury such as that caused by surgery.

Some studies about hypersensitivityy in animals have found that repetition, like chewing, can increase neural responses from previously irritated tissue. These improved neural responses can improve long-term hypersensitivity. The Penn researchers are unsure at this time if this is true for taste.
