Dr. Scott L. Goldstein, DDS - General dentist in Medford, NY

In 1976, Dr. Stephen Gold started one of the first pediatric dental practices in Suffolk County with a staff of 6 people. The colors of the time were blue, green, and bright yellow. A 4-year-old boy commented that the yellow chair looked like a giant banana. Hence the banana chair was born. Since then, our pediatric patients have taken over one million rides on the iconic banana chair. Suffolk Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics has grown from that small office to 5 busy locations in Port Jefferson Station, Wading River, Sayville, and Medford, NY.

I have never had a bad experience at this office. Between Dr. Scott and the staff, they are all so welcoming and take such care of all of my kids. My oldest daughter went in for a tooth extraction this morning and had some fillings and we opted for no laughing gas and Dr. Scott talked with her throughout the entire procedure and she remained calm the entire time, he even had her laughing. He is also very good with special needs children. My middle daughter is autistic and when she was little had a lot of issues with the dentist, when we went to see Dr. Scott he changed that for us and now when we have appointments she counts down the days until we go and get her cleaning done. I highly recommend this office.

Dr. Scott is THE best dentist you can take your kids to. I have been personally going to him since I was 7 years old & it breaks my heart knowing I have to find a new dentist soon. Dr. Scott can make anyone feel comfortable in his chair & creates such a bond with his patients. I could not recommend a better place to go.

Dr Goldstein is probably one of my favorite dentist. He is amazing with my girls. My girls are 5 and 7 and they love going to see him. They were scared at first as any kid would be when they went at 3 for cleaning. My little one had to go for two crowns and let me tell you she didnt even cry! He knew how to talk to her and get it done in a timely matter for young kids yet do a great job! A plus is they had a iPad over there face hanging to distract them if needed. Obviously anything to make the kids feel comfortable.

You know I really hate to leave nasty reviews but I see other reviews regarding the same thing so I think it's extremely important to speak on it. First let me say this negative review is solely for Doreen the nastiest receptionist I have yet to encounter with at a pediatric office. I watched her speak so nasty to my wife that my wife was in tears!!!! She speaks to people nasty in person and over the Phone. We have been going here for 5+ years and have recommended so many family and friends but I've had enough. Dr.Scott and the other ladies in that office are so wonderful I don't understand how she even fits in there, it's the total opposite of everything he stands for. He is the best but unfortunately I will have to start looking elsewhere as well as inform those we recommended although they have all told us plenty times before Dr.Scott is amazing however Doreen is not.

I started using Dr. Scott about two years ago, he is beyond amazing and I will never take my kids to another dentist...ever! When my daughter was less than two she fell and cracked her tooth, when I took her to the dentist (not dr.scott) I had a horrible experience. She needed very extensive work done, at their suggestion the four front teeth needed to be pulled , which is traumatic enough as a parent but especially when it's your first child. The dentist was just absolutely rude and nasty about everything. Needless to say we did not go back, instead we started the hunt for a great dentist. The next dentist seemed great initially but when we started her treatment they quickly switched the plan we had in place for her. They told us they could save her teeth and wound up last minute (kid strapped to chair screaming, kind of last minute) pulling her two front teeth, I am not gonna say they didn't need to be pulled because chances were they did, but they presented me with this scenario that her teeth were going to be fixed and we wouldn't have to pull them, it felt like they were trying to blindside me all along. Again it was a terrible experience we left the dentist with a toothless screaming child, and I was in tears and just felt defeated. On to a third dentist. This dentist had a super fancy office themed for the kids, I thought great! The dentist we seen in the practice was newer so she didn't feel comfortable performing the things my daughter still needed done, so she referred us to the head dentist, he didn't even bother coming in, instead he sent a message that it would have to be done in a hospital, which again was just devastating. So we left again defeated, and I felt completely at a loss. When I went to my dentist appointment I had mentioned the scenario to one of the receptionist she told me about one of her co workers children needing similar work and she had a great experience. She handed me over dr.Scott's card, so I gave a call. Honestly my expectations were not high but she said he did do work in the hospital if necessary so I thought well I don't really have a choice do I and so I went. From the moment we met dr.scott I felt like he just cared about my children as human beings rather then just another mouth in the seat. I was still apprehensive, just because we had met nice dentists before but at some point it would go south. But dr. Scott laid everything our for me, he never promised something and did another. He was super upfront and that helped me feel a little more confident. He said he didn't see the need to do some of the work that had been suggested or in the way it had been suggested. Don't get me wrong my daughter still needed a ton of work, but the fact that he was so upfront with it all made me feel confident enough to be okay with that. So we went ahead with the work, he was so good with my daughter as she isn't the easiest of patients . The short of it, she now has no work that needs to be done and it's been a couple of years and her teeth are coming in beautifully. Now my son needs work and instead of feeling sick over it like I did with my daughter, I feel confident that it will be fine and he is in good hands. The purpose of mentioning my other experiences was not to bash other dentists but to show how desperate I was for a great dentist. In all with my daughter we visited four plus dentists and now the search is over because we found a great dentist. Someone who truly genuinely cares about my kids teeth the way I do! I recommend Dr.scott to everyone and I genuinely wish he did adults as well because he's that great. His work has stayed great for my daughter over these last few years and anytime I have a question I feel like I get an answer and then some. If your looking for a great dentist look no further! So appreciate for dr. Scott and his staff!!!

Dr. Scott is an incredibly passionate and kind dentist. My special needs son has a cranial facial condition and Dr. Scott is extremely knowledgeable in this area and shows my son such love and compassion. He is available whenever there is a dental emergency, even during the pandemic. He will always make time for us if there are any issues, and genuinely cares about my son's well being. If you have a special needs child I highly recommend him.

Today was my son's first appointment with Dr. Scott. This is my first child, so we both needed a lot of reassurance and explanation. Everyone, from the reception desk to Dr. Scott himself, was so patient and kind. I highly recommend Dr. Scott and this office.

My 3 son's have been seeing Dr. Scott for the last several years. Dr. Scott has always been kind and compassionate with my special needs children. Today my special needs son had to have a cavity filled and Dr. Scott explained everything in a way that my son could understand. He let him feel some of the devices he was going to use and also let him look in a mirror to see how "silly" he looked. The staff is also very kind and understanding. It is always a great experience at Dr. Scott's office.
