Pushed by another boy, Dr. Barr fell face forward against the edge of a table. One of his front teeth popped out. Rushed to a dentist's office, the tooth was reinserted, but it never properly re-rooted.
Nonetheless, the experience shaped the direction of his future career. The son of a family physician, Dr. Barr was naturally inclined to follow a path toward medicine, and steered into dentistry. He graduated from the University of Florida in 1979 and earned a doctor of dental surgery from Emory University in Atlanta in 1983.
While at Emory, one of the nation's leading dentists offered to permanently repair his damaged front tooth in an instructional operating theater before hundreds of practicing physicians. Dr. Barr agreed, and now smiles with complete assurance that no one can tell which tooth was replaced. He enjoys helping his patients achieve a similar feeling.
Upon graduation, Dr. Barr was offered space by his father in his medical practice office. He opened his practice in 1983 on Oakland Park Boulevard in a room down the hall from where his father saw patients. The father and son practiced together until 1994, when Dr. Barr moved his practice to the current location in Plantation.
When patients sit in one of Dr. Barr's seven dental chairs, they can expect an often enjoyable experience. Engaging and light-hearted, Dr. Barr has an easy rapport with children, teens and adults. His stories and jokes overlay a serious and professional mind that immediately diagnoses patients' dental problems. Check ups are quick. Treatment is painless and efficient. He uses a small video camera to show patients what is going on inside their mouths, and explains the course of treatment that is needed.
Dr. Barr is conservative in his treatment philosophy and caring about his patients. This means that he'll figure out the most cost effective way to solve your dental problem. He will talk to you about it first, then offer options.
Dr. Barr's staff are, like him, personable, easy to get along with and interested in you as a person and a patient. They'll take the time to listen and talk about your oral care, as well as catch up with you and your family.

I have been going to Dr. Barr for about 15 years seeing Cheryl my dental hygienist, "THE BEST"!. The whole staff is, professional, courteous and friendly which is the result of Dr. Barr himself. Dr. Barr " bed side" manners is undescribale.He truly cares about his patents. I had two teeth pulled at different times and he called me each time to make sure there were no complications. Now how many Doctors you know would personally call to check on his patents?

I just went here for the first time, and everyone I met, from the moment I walked in, was extremely friendly and helpful. The office is bright and inviting and the services provided were excellent! I haven't had a regular dentist in a little while, but have found the place I plan to keep returning to. if you're looking for excellent dental care, look no further!

I have always had great experiences at Dr. Barr's office. I am always treated with respect. I've been going to Dr. Barr's office over 20 years. I can only say, I am glad I found Dr. Barr's office many years ago.

As always, another great visit to Dr. Scott Barr's office. The dental hygienist does such a great job, I always leave with a sparkly clean feeling and a big smile! Thank you, Dr. Barr. See you in six months. Just had another visit with Dr. Barr for my grandson who needs braces. I have been to three orthodontist's offices and they all agree that my grandson's case is "unique." Because I trust Dr. Barr, I brought the case to him to get his opinion. Dr. Barr reviewed my grandson's mouth and reviewed dental x-rays. He then got another orthodontist to come up from downstairs in his building to give his opinion. I have such faith in Dr. Barr. He is always honest and willing to do the best thing for any patient.
