Dr. Sara E. Gigani, DDS

Dr. Romo graduated from the University of Illinois College of Dentistry in 1997. After graduating, he worked as an associate for several private practices and as a clinical extern for the University of Illinois at Chicago Pediatric dental department for two years. Dr. Romo has a passion for dentistry. He is currently past President of the Hispanic Dental Association Greater Chicago Chapter. He is also past President of Chicago Dental Society North Side Branch and the University of Illinois Dental Alumni Board as well as a board member for Delta Dental of Illinois.

He was a member of the UIC Campus Alumni Advisory Board, chair for the Campus Alumni Awards committee, and member of the UIC dental alumni board as well as a trustee for the Chicago Dental Society North Side Branch and trustee for the Illinois State Dental Society. He has received numerous awards including the UIC trailblazer award, a community leadership award by the Chicago Southwest Chamber of Commerce, and was selected as a flame torch bearer at a UIC Flames basketball game. Dr. Romo extensively attends continuing education courses to provide his patients with the latest trends in dentistry.

He is married and has three boys and a girl. Dr. Romo is a die-hard Cubs fan. In his free time, he enjoys tennis, golf, and running. He completed the Chicago Marathon in 2009 and 2010. Throughout high school, college and dental school, Dr. Romo was a Disc Jockey at multiple night clubs and a radio station (90.5 FM, WCYC). He was routinely featured at numerous concerts and festivals. His DJ name was Gino Rockin Romo.

Dr. Sara Gigani Nunez grew up in the Brighton Park area and is happy to be serving children and adults in the neighborhood she was raised in. She attended the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign where she graduated magna cum laude earning her undergraduate degree in Psychology. She received her Doctorate in Dental Surgery in 2005 from the University of Illinois in Chicago.

Dr. Gigani is an active member of the American Dental Association, the Illinois State Dental Association, the Chicago Dental Association, and the Hispanic Dental Association. She attends many continuing education classes in all fields of dentistry which enables her to better serve her patients. She enjoys participating in programs that provide free dental services to people in countries without sufficient access to dental care.

When Dr. Gigani is not practicing her passion of dentistry she spends most of her time with her husband and newborn baby girl. She loves to travel and hopes to one day visit all the new wonders of the world.

Dr. Escobar graduated from the University of Valle College of Dentistry in Cali- Colombia in 2003. After graduating and practicing in her native country for a year, she decided to come to Chicago where she started her way to obtain her Doctor in Dental Surgery degree at the University of Illinois College of Dentistry. This goal was achieved in May of 2011. Since then, she has been working at Romo Dental providing quality dental services for children and adults. She is also a clinical faculty member at the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry and is passionate about educating her students to give them the necessary tools to succeed in the dentistry profession.

Dr. Carla Delafuente attended the University of Illinois at Chicago where she double majored in Biology and Spanish. She received her Degree in Dental Surgery in 2007 from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Throughout her dental school career, she volunteered to travel and serve indigent populations in Mexico and Guatemala. Dr. Delafuente also served as president to both the Hispanic Student Dental Association and American Association of Women Dentists. Dr. Delafuente excelled academically in dental school and served as a tutor and mentor to other dental students.

Dr. Delafuente is an active member of the American Dental Association, the Illinois State Dental Society, and the Chicago Dental Society. Her passion for dentistry and dedication to her patients is evident through her constant search for innovative practice techniques through continuing education courses.

When Dr. Delafuente is not practicing dentistry, she spends most of her time with her husband and her puppy, Whiskey. She and her husband enjoy traveling, cooking, watching movies and spending time with their family and friends. Dr. Delafuente and her husband plan to continue traveling to underserved regions of the world and continue helping those in need.

My name is Jessica Vicario. I've been a dental assistant for over six years and I've been at Romo Dental since 2009. I am certified to do coronal polishings and sealants. I have a newborn baby boy. When he looks at me and smiles, it always brightens my day. I enjoy spending time with my friends and baking with my two nieces. I love being a dental assistant because Ive developed many friendships throughout the years with our patients and my coworkers. Working at Romo Dental has been like a second home for me. Our dentists and staff will go far and beyond to make your smile great!

My name is Ana Lemus. I've been a dental assistant for over twelve years and I have been at Romo Dental since 2005. I am certified to do coronal polishings and sealants. I love spending time with my husband and two boys. I also enjoy cooking, traveling, and dancing. As a dental assistant, I love working with children. My name is Lorena Garay and joined Romo Dental in May 2012. I feel very fortunate to be given the opportunity to work here because I work with an amazing team of dentists and staff.I graduated as a dentist in Colombia back in 2005, and since I moved to Chicago in 2007 I have been practicing as a dental assistant. I am certified to do coronal polishing and sealants. The part that I love most about my job is getting to know the patients and making them feel comfortable every time they visit us.When I am not at work I love spending time with my family!!!

I'm Leticia Garcia. I have been working at Romo Dental as a receptionist since the summer of 2012 immediately after graduating from Lane Technical High School. I am currently taking prerequisites for dental school at Morton College and I intend to transfer to UIC to pursue my career in dentistry. In the short time I have been working at Romo Dental, my interest in dentistry has grown immensly. My experience at Romo Dental has been the key influence in my decision to major in dentistry.

When I am not occupied with school or work, I spend my time on the soccer field. I have been playing soccer since the age of six. Aside soccer, I am a huge sports fanatic. I enjoy watching football and basketball. The opportunity to work alongside such a professional and dedicated group of individuals makes everyday at the office a great experience.
