Rude, rough, shoddy work and his staff is worse.

I went to a checkup yesterday and found Dr. Hites to be kind, caring and gentle. I like that he took the time to educate me about his holistic approaches and also give me practical advice about how to stop the cavities: brush 5 min 3x per day, floss daily, cut out carbs and sugars to almost nothing - grains, fruits, fruit juices. I like that he is good at explaining how he works because some dentists are terrible at being open and telling you about everything they do. It's great that he uses muscle testing! Also it's really great that he tests his patients for which dental materials will work with them! I went to Dr. Hites in 2007 and I found him to be a skilled dentist in terms of the fillings he did for me at the time - I had no complaints at all. In 2007 I left a negative review, which I took down later, because I realized it was unfair. He had a ton of patients and was in a hurry one time when I was there, and I asked him not to poke really hard into my decay as I wanted to remineralize my teeth. He was going quickly and did poke not having registered my request. I was upset. However, now I realize that that is how dentists assess where the healthy tooth structure is under the decay, and it's just part of the way they work. It doesn't damage the healthy tooth structure which is very hard. Also, I have empathy for how fast he needed to go in order to fit everyone in who needed his help on that day. I felt bad about that when I realized that review only was for a small percent of the overall experience of Dr. Hites being friendly, helpful, informative, and skilled at holistic dentistry, so I took that down. I think overall he is a great dentist.

The service was stellar and they were very accommodating. I was from out of town and had an emergency (chipped crown); they saw me the next day and took care of the problem. Would recommend to anyone, and would definitely make them my dentist if I lived in the area. Very friendly.

Family dentist at it's finest. I feel safe with Dr Hites working with my children. No unnecessary treatments and holistic approach to dentistry.

Although it was many years ago, I was very alarmed when Dr. Hites told me I had temporomandibular joint disorder, when I don't. I have never had a problem with TMJ (my jaws, teeth, etc.are fine), and have had several other dentists since, none of whom has ever told me I had this problem. When I declined a followup for the "TMJ," the receptionist put me on hold, and Dr. Hites came on the phone to personally try to get me to come in for this nonexistent problem. He does have a nice looking office though.
