Life Smiles Dental Care is proud to offer you a full in-house dental experience between our three convenient San Diego locations. We won't have to refer you out to another dental office for dental procedures and our high-tech facilities means you will have the most comfortable experience that is hard to find anywhere else!

Your comfort and time are things that we know are extremely meaningful when coming in for a dental visit. This is why we have gone to great lengths to provide you with the benefits of state-of-the-art technology. This allows you to receive dental services and treatment in as little time as possible. Below are a few pieces of equipment we use to provide these benefits:

The i-CAT x-ray machine (a.k.a. Cone Beam 3D Imaging System) allows us to take a digital 3D model of your entire skull. This system means dental implants are precisly placed where they have the best chance of success. We can also use this system to detect looming issues with wisdom teeth before their removal.

We use a laser for dental procedures involving the soft tissues in your mouth such as gums, cheeks and lips. Laser dentistry (a.k.a. LANAP Therapy) means these dental procedures are pain-free and healing times are significantly shorter when compared to the same procedure being done with a scalpel.

Dr. Samuel Hayatt, DMD - General dentist in La Jolla, CADr. Samuel Hayatt, DMD - General dentist in La Jolla, CA

Dr. Hayatt is dedicated to the area of cosmetic dentistry, providing preventative maintenance and restorative dental health for our patients. He is an active member of the CDA, ADA and SDCDS and has received many awards for implants, esthetics, restorative and prosthodontics. Dr. Hayatt is consistently educating himself and his staff with many continuing education courses to keep up to date with the latest advancements in dentistry as well as orthodontics. Take advantage of our modern dental facility and Dr. Hayatt's advanced knowledge of treatments available for you and your family.

Our cosmetic dentistry options can dramatically improve the appearance of your teeth. Straightening, whitening and repairing cracked or damaged teeth can enhance your smile while improving how you feel about your appearance. We are a full service provider of cosmetic dentistry options including teeth whitening, inlays & onlays, veneers, Invisalign as well as traditional braces. Give your child the gift of a beautiful healthy smile with our two phase orthodontic treatment options.

The i-CAT 3-D dental scan system is well in advance of any x-ray system. The i-CAT provides 3-D images of the teeth, jaw, sinuses and skull structure in 1/20th of a second with significantly less radiation than a medical CT scan.

The 3-D scans from the i-CAT provide anatomically accurate data and surgical predictability for:- Implant placement- Impactions- TMJ analysis- Airway assessments- Panoramics- Cephalometrics- Orthodontics- Orthognathic surgery

We use a highly-sensitive precision wand to digitally scan the section of your mouth where a dental restoration will be placed. As the wand scans the area, it builds a virtual model of your mouth on a screen right in front of your eyes. You and Dr. Hayatt can fine-tune the area until the virtual model represents your mouth exactly.

Once the digital model of the dental restoration area have been finished, Dr. Hayatt will digitally design a restoration right there on the screen. It will be designed to be fully functional and fit exactly in the area where it needs to be place.

From there, this digital restoration will be sent to a milling machine where a color-matched block of porcelain will be precisely milled into the final restoration. This restoration is NOT a temporary, but rather the same restoration we expect to receive from a dental lab.

The final restoration is test-fitted to the area and any final adjustments are made before securely bonding the restoration to the tooth. You will walk out of our office wearing the final restoration in a single dental visit.

CrownsCEREC crowns are the preferred dental restoration for damaged teeth or after a root canal or dental implant placement. CEREC crowns are color matched to blend in perfectly with surrounding teeth.

Inlays & OnlaysFor when a filling might ruin tooth structure integrity but a crown is unnecessary a CEREC inlay or onlay is the perfect dental restoration to restore a tooths functionality yet keep a natural appearance.

White FillingsHigh-strength fillings and color matched to the tooth the dental restoration is being placed in. CEREC retain a natural biting surface that is otherwise lost in some typical filling methods.

VeneersCEREC veneers are created to perfectly fit over a prepared tooth that was originally damaged or discolored. The final product is a fully functional, color-matched dental restoration ready for use.

CEREC restorations are the quickest way today to receive a final dental restoration. Because of their 'single-visit' nature, they are typically associated as a high-cost dental service. This is not always true and in many cases, a CEREC restoration costs about the same as a traditional restoration.

In any case, a same-day dental restoration is easily affordable at Life Smiles Dental Care. We are a proud CareCredit provider which means your dental restoration can be financed in most cases with no interest rate for a set financing term.

I have been to Dr. Hyatt's office twice now, once for a normal cleaning/ x-rays and a second time to have my wisdom teeth removed. Both times I had an amazing experience. The staff was very friendly and helpful in answering all my questions. Dr. Hyatt is amazing as well! He is very kind and comforting, takes time to answer questions and walk you through procedures, and is very skilled at what he does. I had all four of my wisdom teeth removed and the entire procedure went as smoothly as it possibly could've. It was done within 25 minutes. The next day, I had very minimal pain and after two days, I feel pretty much like normal. I highly recommend Life Smiles and Dr. Hyatt!

Dr. Hyatt and his entire crew are truly the real deal. I went in so embarrassed and anxious about my teeth and so far the experience has been beyond my expectations. I have a lot more work to be done, but I am beyond happy.. All the fear is gone and I can't wait to show off my smile.

I have hypoplasia, which is malformation of teeth enamel when I was growing up. Because of my hypoplasia I have always been very careful with my teeth, brushing it at least 3x a day and flossing, as well as regular cleanings and dentist visits (every 6 months). I went to Dr Hayatt because it was convenient and well located, so I thought he must be good. They did a complete set of X-rays on my teeth and he told me I had FOUR cavities that I needed to treat asap. They gave me a bill for over US$1000 if I wanted to treat the cavities. Dr Hayatt was not courteous to his staff, nor to me. I paid the $25 so they would release the X-ray and the pictures they took at the appointment and I could consult with my dentist growing up and my newer dentist what they thought. They both said there were no signs of cavities. Later I scheduled an appointment with a dentist that was recommended to me, and she confirmed I had no cavities. Luckily I didn't trust his diagnosis, otherwise I would have 4 holes in my mouth that I would need to maintain for the rest of my life.

I have been a patient of Dr. Hayatt's for about 5 years now. I Google'd his name a couple of days ago to get their number to call and confirm my up coming appointment I had today. When I got to the Google page he was on, I also noticed all the reviews and decided to read them. I was honestly shocked at what I began to read of almost all negative reviews claiming all sorts of issues. There are not a lot of reviews here on Google, but most are bad. Hopefully my account will help others if they read the reviews. Today I had a crown, two fillings and a cleaning performed all at once. I have had two other crowns done, plus a couple of other fillings, a root canal and cleanings every 6 months. My wife who can't stand going to the dentist also goes here and has no issues. Neither of us have had any of the issues described in the reviews, in fact my experience has been good enough that I have referred several co-workers to him. I have felt his service has always been very good, never any pain with the procedures and no problems yet with any of the fillings or crowns. He seems very knowledgeable and gets the work done quickly, again without pain. I am not sure what else you can expect from a dentist for basic dental needs. I have tested four other dentists in the area and have found Dr. Hayatt to be the best, the nicest, the most up to date equipment and office setting. Hopefully my review will help people understand that he is a very good dentist in my opinion and I think certainly worth going to for dental care.

Do not waste your time or money here! From the very start, I did not get a sense that I was a valued patient, I was just another person to be rushed through. My appointment was at the end of the time, and they had requested that I arrive 15 minutes early to fill in paperwork. That was fine, so I arrived at the time they specified, and just as I walk in, the receptionist says "There you are, I just left you a voicemail". I listened to the voicemail later, and she was asking me where I was! And I was there 15 minutes early! Then I get in and they inform me that they want to take x-rays since I am a new patient. I told them I just had a full set of x-rays done 6 months ago, and I would prefer not to do a full set, so they said okay, we'll just do bite wings. Then apparently the doctor told them he wanted a full set of x-rays, so they start doing the x-rays, and I had to ask them why they were doing the full set when I specifically asked not to have them done. The technician then informs me that the doctor insisted that I get the full set, but that they would only be charging my insurance for the bite wings. This made me a little ticked off, but fine, I gave in. Then the actual exam happened. I have never had a cavity in my life, and so of course I was suprised when Dr. Hayatt diagnosed 4 cavities using a new sonographic machine that measures enamel thickness. I am in the medical field as well, so I am not opposed to using technology. However, there was no discussion of what the options were, he just assumed that I would agree with his diagnosis and pushed me to schedule an appointment to have the fillings done. I felt so pressured that I made the appointment, but later cancelled because I just didn't have a good feeling about it. I have since gone to another dentist for a second opinion, and the new dentist has confirmed that I do not have any cavities.

Didn't get my teeth right after two attempts. After Dr.Hayatt performed deep cleaning and filling at my teeth they became very sensitive and weak even after 5 weeks. Not to mention he and his assistant got distracted by the huge TVs in the operating room while performing on me. (it freaked me out to see them looking at CNN instead of of my month while holding their power tools) The filling he put in the molar had too high of a bite the first time; it caused lots of discomfort for two weeks and required me to go for another time for an adjustment...and it still felt weak after the second appointment; I simply don't have much faith to go in a third time. You are not seeing many negative reviews here because he and his staff try very hard to harass unhappy patients to remove negative reviews. For more info, refer to Yelp; there are many super negative reviews on him along side some very positive ones. I don't know where the good reviews comes from, but I am switching to another dentist for sure.
